I went through this last winter. No amount of heat, sledge hammers, or penetrating oil could loosen it. I had to pull the engine out and cut it off with a disc.

Well what good timing for me. Just bought the same axle. How in the hell does that nut come off? Snap ring first, then theTop nut, then inside collar slide off or something? And my nut is different than that. Sorry for the slight derail in the thread
