  1. im sea level. had a similar banshee with 27.5 and 290s that ran pretty perfect. so ill prob end up somewhere around there.
  2. yeah leak down tester is on its way..should be shipped by tomorrow so im going to do leakdown as soon as i get it. i cleaned gasket surfaces really really good but didnt use any copper spray or sealant.. Is that usually recommended? New gaskets all around (made sure it was right side up for head gasket), coolant plugs in bottom of jugs are good. I will look into pressure testing rad/cooling system. never done that before.
  3. fresh bore .20 over , new wiseco piston and rings, open air box, vforce 3s, full t5s, my jetting is 25 pilot 280 main which should be pretty close.
  4. yeah i used two stroke to lube also. i thought it sas just burning that off also but its def more smoky than it would be
  5. oring is good on tube, but think tube is a little out of shape, since it takes alittle more to get clutch side cover on over that tube
  6. Yeah im not running it anymore until i get it figured out. Weird cuz the head looks good and head gasket is brand new. How else would coolant be getting into cylinders? and what would plugs look like ? i checked them and they were like a light brown
  7. Just rebuilt banshee. (seized transmission-swapped and put in new top end and crank seals) All nuts and bolts are torqued to spec, all new gaskets, etc. Getting clouds of white steam / smoke out of both pipes after starting, and bike will only idle for a few seconds and then die. Thinking that coolant is getting into the cylinders and that is being burnt off? If there is an internal leak like that, how will you e able to see that from leakdown test?
  8. yes genuine mikuni jets. its about 35 degrees here at sea level. Plug chop shows very light brown. I'll try to post pic
  9. went down to 270 and wasnt much better. tried 300 and seems like it was a little more clear but at 1/2-full throttle theres just no power. ill go up a few more steps on main just to see how it reacts
  10. i appreciate the input. should i put the needle back in the middle and then drop down on the main? of keep it at the bottom and drop it down and see what happens?
  11. 87 banshee fmf fattys and power core II silencers, pro flow air filter (just cleaned), boyesen reeds. Stock carbs freshly rebuilt, jets all cleaned out. spotless. I CANNOT figure this thing out. 27.5 pilot, 290 main. compression test good and no leaks. Im also not the most experienced with jetting. I have another banshee with pretty much the same setup and runs absolutely perfect with 27.5 and 300. the 87 is not even close to running good. Starts first kick and idles all day, very slight bog off the start and will not get on power band. Just doing some experimenting with the needle clip, the bike runs the best with the clip all the way at the bottom. (**Gets worse the higher the clip goes on needle**) Any suggestions? do I need to go up more on main jet? Screws are about .5 turns out. Bike wants to die the further out i turn them. I thought reeds were the issue at first.. so i pulled them out and what do ya know.. there was a crack in one of them. So went and got boyesens and put them in, and fixed problem slightly but still not all the way.

  13. carbs available? price?
  14. do you still have the carbs?? and was tors removed or no? interested
  15. Old post, but picked up a banshee a few months ago in pretty rough shape. cleaned it all up and made it look nice. the plastics were all scratched, faded, scuffed up, etc. They were pretty much at the point of no return. Didnt really feel like spending 200+ dollars on new ones. I've painted plastics before using Krylon Fusion. As long as you prep well and do it the right way, it will last for a very long time. This time I decided to try something different. I got a few cans of bedliner spray (rhino liner), whatever youd like to call it. Did about 3 light coats and it came out awesome. This is very durable stuff. Holds up good and flexible. Cheap way to make the bike look nice and not have to worry about paint chipping. will try to get a pic up
  16. Front fender stays for both sides? (Fender mounts)
  17. whats up guys, looking for a set of banshee front fender stays for both sides if anyone has any laying around. Shipping to 08027. Let me know, thanks!
  18. not ignoring anyone..just trying to get some ideas.
  19. you think a smaller jet would get rid of the slight bog when i hit throttle?
  20. had trouble getting it to idle...had screw all the way in on the carb and was still dieing when i let off the throttle. so i took the screw all the way out and cut a little bit off of the spring that was keeping it from screwing in any further and as soon as i did that, it is idling perfect. just needed to get that screw in a little deeper. still a slight bog when hitting the throttle and when i give it a lot of throttle, it doesnt sound like it revs at high as it should. got a 52 pilot and 180 main jet..gonna try going up on the pilot to get this thing sounding right.
  21. thanks for the info guys, didnt really touch anything on it yet...just wanted to get some input on where i should start.
  22. will that get bike to idle without havin to give it gas?
  23. whats up guys, i picked up a really cheap 89 banshee recently. motor was just rebuilt, starts up in like one kick. has fmf pipes and has the trinity 2 to 1 carb setup. When quad starts up and when in neutral, there seems to be a slight bog when i hit the throttle to rev it, and it also does not idle--i have to keep giving it gas. What can i do to get more response from throttle and how can i get it to idle?
