  1. Hey Guys I really appreciate all the feedback and all the technical information. I know that most of the infomation that I have been questioning probably has been discussed before so with repetition in mind I try to ask solid questions so in the event another noobie with questions can search and find a lot of infomation in one thread...So once again thanks everyone for all the great information....
  2. Few Questions First: What are boost ports and what purpose do they serve? Ported Cases? Straight Cuts...Are you referring to the tranny? What are 6" PODS? Would you explain what you mean by "i love the way i can get in and out of the throttle on the hills and how it comes right back on the pipe" I can under stand the emphasis on tuning. I have seen on the RC side of racing where guys with basic engines that are tunes properly tuned put the spank to high end cars. So point taken..... ....... I still have a lot of research to do on jetting and carb syncing... But I really appreciate the feed back...Great information.
  3. Yeah Adam I will surely be going with 4 mil route. I have seen a few cranks listed on the forum the latest one was like 250 bucks I think. I had been reading who are / are not good people to purchase stuff from. I just may go the safe route and buy one brand new. I was reading a posting, but can't find it now. A few members were singing praise to about this guy, pretty sure he is familiar on the forum. But anyway the members were discussing the attention he puts into the cranks that he sell. From trueing to double penetration welds. I can't find the thread though... .... Anyway from what I can remember I don't think Weisco true their cranks and there was something that Hot Rod didn't do to their cranks, and the guy forum members were talking about pretty much does it all.
  4. Ok...Are Shearers low, mid or top end pipes. Currently I am running FMF Fatties Gold Series, pretty common pipes. From the research I have done I am coming to the conclusion the Gold Series are mid to high end pipes. I haven't been riding long enough to give solid feedback on a lot of pipes but seems as if the fatties are ok. I will be talking to all of the guys...one of them will be doing some work for me. Thanks for the advice.
  5. Hella Sweet Bike...!! FYI....Something that you may want to try next time you bring your bike in from the sand. You could try Tough Stuff automotive carpet and seat cleaner......I haven't tried it with sand but I have tried it after riding in the mud and dirt, no sand in these neck of the woods...None the less I sprayed the Tough Stuff in all the tough places and after it foamed all up I sucked it all out with a wet vac. Did that all over the hard spots then rinsed it with water. I worked really well. There was little to no dirt in the cracks and it didn't take very long. Cleaned all the tough places like in between the carbs, around the seat and under sides and the radiator area...My bike is pretty much stock and it cranked and fired when I was done. Just my 2 cents... Try Bleach White on your counter tops to remove crystal light stains, in the dryer to remove ink from pens left in your pants pockets and on white shoes....The shit is magical.
  6. "Troyz-A-Stain"...lol Whoa, that was a sweet bike, I really liked the red accent cover that you had on the radiator hoses. What made you sell your bike? About how much do you think you had in it..?
  7. I wonder what response you would get if you asked why is the bike going for that price and what mods have been made..? BTW what is the going price for an 06?
  8. No problem with the "set tips"...Sorta threw me for a minute, thought it was terminology that I wasn't familiar with. What really threw me for a loop is when I first started looking on this f.orum and a member referred to cylinders as "juggs" I was like WTF are juggs..? Then I fugured it out. Denny at flotek? I will have to look that up. I have heard names thrown up quite a few times, Kevin and another guys seems to be the go to guys. With a shorter swing arm I'm assuming its pretty hard to the front end down especially playing around the 70 hp range. What are Shears? With tons of low end power (pros) what are some things that aren't so good?
  9. I can't bring myself to call you Dumbshit, so if you don't mind can I call you Slow #2? Anyway, I have FMF fatties as well, I took them off a couple days ago and really is not sure if they are nice and snug. What are some checks I can do to ensure there are proper seals from the motor and along the sides where they couple to the silencers?
  10. True...Now here is a question for ya For the money, do you think purchasing a 4 mil crank and port job would be better or purchasing a cub or serval?
  11. Newb here...!! ...For anything to become something a starting point is Absolutely Manditory...So GIVE IT UP FOR The NEWBIES... Now go over to my most recent topic and start answering some damn question...!!
  12. Oh ok. Have you ever ridden a bike with a 7 mil set up...Its it more of a drag setup? How does it performs in regards to a stroked stock cylinder setup or a stroke cub setup?
  13. I think he forgot to click the attachment button. Brent, I am running FMF Gold Series and for the most part I am stock and my bike runs strong. From what I have heard the Gold Series are a good mid to top end set of pipes and so far I like them. My bike is rather snappy on the throttle. Also one guy said they run well on 34's
  14. Thanks for the info Shakar....Good Stuff..!! Currently is your bike stock? If not, what type of mods has your bike had and what were some of the noticeable differences from the stock setup? You mentioned that your buddy has ported stock cylinders on a 4 mil and 7 mil. Is is possible to run a 7 mil setup with stock cyliners? What were the differences between the two and do you know any additional mods on the 4 mil and 7 mil? For your upcoming build, will you be doing the work yourself or sending it a builder? What type of riding do you do with your current setup?
  15. Hey Zach, thanks for the feedback....Good Stuff...!! You mentioned that you enjoy the "set tips". If you don't mind, can you break that down a little more for me? I am not sure what you mean by "set tips". I have been trail riding a few times and when I rode on trials that were "slow pace" I think the stock carbs sorta loaded up. My bike began to pop. There was another banshee rider with us and he said that he needed to open up his bike a little. We made it to this gravel road and he made a couple passes. I did the same thing and the bike stopped popping as much. He said that banshees prefer the higher rpms and sometimes opening the bike up clears the carbs. Did you have any port work done to your cylinders? -2 swingarm..?? Are implying that your swing arm is 2 inches shorter than stock or 2 inches narrower? What type of Toomeys do you have 5's or 6's? What type of gas do you run and with your current set up how many HP do you have?
  16. Hey guys, new to banshees and trying gather information for next build. Starting off here is what I have 03 with +3 timing advance, tors removal, boost bottle, FMF fatties gold series, V-F3 reeds, tusks heavy duty clutch, stock cylinders and stock carbs. The bike runs great, not sure on the compression but at tops it only requires 2-3 kicks to start cold. I am trying to decide which would be a better route for the type of riding I do 4 mil crank stock cylinders or 4 mil Cheetah cub the type of riding I do is trails in some cases but mainly open flat fields, novice mx and sometimes 300 ft drag races,. I have searched this forum as well as a few other forums to get a somewhat detailed breakdown on pros / cons and or overview of one set up over the other. I am pretty sure this has been discussed, so to those who may have saved a link and or thread, please include in response. My questions: 4 mil ported stock cylinders vs 4 mil cub……Performance….. Would the ported stock cylinder set up perform the same or in the ball park of a 4 mil cub. Which set up would giver more over all power or faster set up. Can someone give a description of the difference in the two setup if they have had experience with both. What would be some additional items needed with each set up-such as carbs, pipes and gearing. Thanks in advance for the insight.
  17. A few postings up I asked if anyone had tried a arms from RPM Industries. Will someone give me a little insight on them?
  18. Hey thanks Nutwood. What do you mean by "crown"? And generally how long does reeds last?
  19. There are plenty of people that have put them in karts, to me thats just as scary as the atv frame swap but they seem to be more "fun" type builds. There are several vids on youtube. I would putting the egine on a kart. Maybe an older but sturdy margay frame.
  20. I was told that reeds are able to be "flipped" is this true and how often should reeds be changed?
  21. Though its not on the subject of banshees the main point would apply. What type of racing will you be doing? When racing RC cars several guys ask how fast is your car and and what size motor are do you have (not what type), its obvious these guys haven't been round long. These guys have .21 motors on 1/10 scale cars and they run like raped apes...Literally. Fast as shiz nitz. Once there was a newbie (as myself) out there on the track and decided to run laps against a stock Serpent. First they ran the straights and the Traxxis I think it was beat him a few times, by only a few feet. The the Serpent driver suggested to stretched the cars out doing some laps.....I must say I have never seen a car get lapped so many times in less than 3 minutes in life. So in short you can install a motorcycle engine on your quad and have a mean ferocious sounding toy thats a real L.A.M.B (Look At Me Bike) or you can spend your time and money wisely and put those guys running motorcycle engines to shame...The Choice Is Yours.. :headband
  22. I thought Banshees were stopped being made in 06?
  23. I recently spoke with a fabricator/builder about people that swap motorcycle engines into sports atv frames. Basically he said its a bad idea if you do not know what you are doing. The guy made several good points. He said that one of the main problems is proper weight distribution for the frame. In short ensuring the engine has the correct angle and other factors that would cause the weight to be off. Another topic was mounting points he was really firm on that. I think he had seen some examples of conversions gone bad because engine mounts gave out. If you do the conversion I advise you to speak with someone or a builder that knows his stuff before jamming in a motorcycle engine in a banshee frame. Putting a heavier engine rated at 150 HP into a frame thats rated for an engine with half the weight and power could yield some bad results.
