  1. I would imagine I'm pushing 50 with mods no? But yeah like I said we do a lot of woods and coal strippins and since the wife and the kid I don't go after the monster hills anymore...I also like the fuel mileage of it semi modded...

    But anyway.....

Real cause of the wiped out top end was the milling of the head was too much and had the squish point at thirteen thousandths...obviously we all know that is way to low...I did not know a lot about the squish point but with some research I have a pretty good grip in it now...

I guess this is how we learn....

Thank you all for your help..much appreciated!

    That blows, sorry mate.

I think NOW is a good time for a 4mil

  2. guyz , it seems u get me wrong , i know that honda dont do banshee engines , and what i mean is to put for example a cbr600 rr enigne on the banshee frame , i see around online some put the R1 engine on the banshee frame , i know it had to go through many modifications on the frame , engine mounts , ect.. , what i am asking about is you advice which to go through , also i am trying to avoide the 2 stroke problems , the carb problem with 90 degree wheelis while stunting , and starting problems , so the 4 stroke is much reliable in addition to the injection system

Not sure why you think four strokes are more "reliable" .....doesn't matter what kind of motor it is, any kind of motor can have problems

If you want to stunt, why don't you get a street bike like most people ? This is a QUAD banghead

  3. I have a problem with my rear brake ....I took it riding for a day and noticed my pedal was getting weak. Looked at the rear pads and the inside pad was wore completely out. The outside pad was still like new. Does this sound like the slide pins are worn/dirty or my caliper is sticking causing wear to the inside pad? Whatever it is I want to fix it properly.

    caliper piston is sticking

  4. this may be a really dumb question but if i dont gap my plugs can that make my quad miss out at high rpms?

Theoretically yes because the spark will have a longer travel between the electrode. But the gap would have to be WAY off. So just gap it at .020-.028

If your Shee is missing at high RPM you might want to check out the carbs/jets

  5. Dear all ,

i had a 1996 banshee frame , i am willing to start a summer project , i the main target is to had a powerfull quad for drifting , and as well some regular stunts , i choosed the banshee as for its light weight frame and rigidty as well , i would like to have ur valueble advice for this project , what engine do u prefer . . is the 600cc will do the job + a modified gear on the rear axel ( 4 teeth more ) , or the 1000cc will do the job right , for drifting mainly which engine will have the ability to stand the use , also i am confused , some say the honda engine will stand the purpose , others prefer yamaha engines , i dont know from where to start , i had many other clarifications but i dont wanna start too long :)

thank you all in advance .

    Moustafa

r u fukin serious?. is this a joke ?

  6. im gunna stash them back in my barn til i can muster up a shit to give. back to workin my my boat. its more important to see boobies than get a warrior running so I can sell it. got 2 banshees, a blaster, and a gasgas wild 300 to get to next. just picked up a 93kx125 in mint shape too.

    LOL amen to that !

    burn that fukin' warrior

  7. nobody knows or what?

You can't just "guess" the pilot size. Remove the carbs and look at the jets for yourself.

Every bike is going to require different jets, depending on your elevation and what mods are done to the bike.

What air intake setup are you using? Any other mods besides the exhaust? What is your elevation? What color are the electrodes on your plugs?

Help us answer these questions, and we will help YOU :)

  8. So I put the factory pilots back in and its running now but wont idle at all. I'm thinking putting back in the 200 mains as well. I have 240's in now but thats what caused my no idle in the 1st place... So if I revert back to all stock jetting I'll be at square 1 again but at least it idled... Im at a loss of what to do.

Check the domes on the slides, they should be facing the rear of the bike

  9. Im running a stock head thats shaved .040 and im getting some detonation on top end. Im running ported cylinders and 5 degrees timing with 340 mains in stock carbs also. Will a 50/50 race fuel and pump gas mix be ok?

Set the timing to 4^ and run race fuel ....don't run it anymore until you fix the detonation problem or you will pop that motor !

  10. Welcome fellow no0b !

Most of that stuff listed you can find on ebay for really good prices.

If you are thinking about a top end rebuild, get the jugs mic'd and then bore/port it. Then slap in some Wiseco prolites. They sell full kits on ebay including gaskets/wrist pins/bearings etc for $200-250

They a good machine shop could bore each jug for $50 a piece, or send it to FAST or a BHQ sponsor.

    Good luck ! :headbang:

  11. Do you have aftermarket pipes? What pilot jet are you running? What main jet are you running? Are the slides rising at the exact same time when you ease into the throttle ?

What is the current setting of your air screws (how many turns out) ?

Also as mentioned make sure the dome part of the slides are facing the rear of the bike.

  12. Any one replace there shift arm seal? Im new to working on atv's let alone a banshee. Mines leaking and i was woundering how hard it is to replace and what else i might need to replace during the process?

    Welcome aboard mate !

Just do a search on the board, and you can DL the service manual. It contains everything you need for this fix. Take your time and you will be OK as long as you have a small amount of mechanical experience. Have fun ! :headbang:

  13. Thanks for all the input. I will check my cap resistance but it seems I will be fine with the standard plugs. I do not have any special electrical mods that require the resistor plugs. You guys are great help. I appreciate it.

you know the saying, if it runs good, don't fuk with it !

  15. you're doing something wrong if the bolts are all the way in with a 104 chain/stock gears and still have 2" of slack. Standard slack is 0.6 inches from the middle of the chain on the top side.

loosen all 4 carrier bolt nuts, and tighten the chain by turning the lower two bolts clockwise.

Are you sure you have routed the chain correctly?
