  1. I'm curious about this too since I have some of those grooves from the plates and don't feel like spending more money on a upgraded clutch basket but sounds like that's your problem if the plates are kinda like stuck in the groove and can't "walk" in and out but I'm still new to these things so waiting to hear from some others if smoothing those grooves thus widening the gap will affect anything. BTW on my evo 8 (mitsu lancer evolution) I have an exedy triple clutch which is pretty much a similiar setup with these clutches as far as clutch basket and plates go and when people have issues with the clutch dragging some people grind a little metal off in that same area to fix the problem so the plates can move in and out.
  2. By the way he sounded there's no way he could match there prices (with the tires anyway), but he called me up and said hes done mounting the tires which cost like 20 bucks, I was waiting for him to say oh they were under size and it took me forever to mount them or something so sounds like they were easy. and agreed with the amount of tires RM sells I'm sure there would be more info if they were selling junk tires or something.
  3. So a shop I've been going to was telling me that the tires from Rockymountain or any place that has them that cheap (Razr 2's for $115 or less each) must be blemishes, or oversized or undersized, been sitting around for years, or basically didn't come out perfect so they sell them at a cheaper price. Out of over 200 reviews on the site just for those tires I didn't see anything bad about them, then again I'm sure alot of people don't mount them themselves so can't go by that but I'm curious what everyone else thinks of this. I am NOT knocking rockymountain at all since they got good parts, prices and shipping, and currently get FREE money (credit) when you spend over a certain amount, the more the better. Is it just because RM is a huge wharehouse and I'm sure buys tires dealer direct by the truck load hence the cheaper price or maybe the shop owner is right? Obviously he wants me to buy tires from him but I know this happens with other things non atv related. This is the owner of the shop with over 20 years experience, not just some guy that is paid to sit there all day and press buttons on a register or something
  4. The offer totally got me to get the tires from them haha so got free 50 bucks instead of like $30 or w/e I would've earned without the price of the tires.
  5. Popped the clutch cover today and as I got the cover an inch apart I heard something drop....the nut that holds the clutch drive and oil pump gears on was what fell down, I would bet someone put it on with an impact cuz half the threads are gone in the nut and obviously not making the water pump spin but luckily the threads on the drive still look good. I got pics but can't post em since I'm on my phone. And good for me it already has a billet impeller and bearings feel tight but there's a buildup of redish (from the atf) chunky glitter material in the lower level of the case....looks like clutch material so I'm goin to pull the plates tomorrow to check em out, any other idea what it could be? Ill try and post pics of it when I get to a computer
  6. Check plugs and obvious but take off your intake so you can see the throttle slides and make sure they are "in sync" and open the same amount at then start to crack the throttle and if one slide is starting to open before the other adjust the screw and nut on top....if good can also check the airfuel screw but need a airflow tool or vacuum gauge...its prob not the issue but it doesn't hurt to check and makes a big difference in how the engine runs. There's a few good vids of it youtube but pull the plugs...how do they look? One side diff than the other?
  7. I had started looking on youtube for some vids on how it went together and worked but just looked at that page in the tech info section and it helped Alott. Thanks, I shall be pulling the cover asap. Someone has already been in there to change the impeller so hopefully they replaced all the bearings and seals already so I don't have to
  8. Damn, figured that....Sure glad I got a gasket kit for it and noticed it before it overheated and messed something up. I see someone replaced the stock piece with a nice metal impeller but I guess something made the gear break....time to pop off the case and hope nothing is too messed up
  9. Sorry I know this sounds like a retarded question but is the water pump impeller supposed to turn if you turn the motor over if you push down on the kick start? Mine doesnt....I just bought it from a friend and its been sitting and has maybe an hr or a few on the motor.... so I'm finding all the problems and fixing them first but I don't see why it wouldnt be hooked directly to the crank via gear driven or something....If so what would make it not turn with the crank? Broken gear or something? Thanks
  10. Its an 03 and thanks, ill check and retorque the big nuts. I'm a diesel mechanic so I have big wrenches and both air and electric impact guns that are no prob for those little nuts. I would like to rebuild the rear with new bearings eventually, how hard is that, I know I could do it but is there anything involved besides maybe a press?
  11. This is a new to me quad so going over everything and the rear sprocket has alot of play in it side to side. What holds that tight? Those 2 big nuts? or could it be bad bearings somewhere? I also found the left rear hub nut loose...if it wasnt for the cotter pin the nut would have came off (while the last owner was driving it anyway). Cotter pin ftw
  12. 1 fouled plug?
  13. What color smoke is it? Blue or white?
  14. I appreciate the help and non smartass comments....Since we're on the topic...What is the differences in all these diff brand heads? Is one better than the other as far as reliability and performance? I deff do plan on getting rid of the trininty heads and going with something else and need to order chain rollers and guide kit (TM design kit looks good to me?) so would like to order soon and take it out hopefully next weekend, as long as I get replacement tires for the paddles by then.
  15. Well I found the o-ring kit for like $22 bucks and says they're viton seals and was from Trinity or an authorized Trinity vendor anyway. Since the head looks like it can come off easily besides for taking off the tank which I'm going to flush out anyway I'm hoping I can get the head off the studs without taking much apart besides pulling the tank? Just was looking it over last night and I see there is a metal "spacer" (& obv 2 gaskets) between the jugs and crankcase....uhh is that normal or a ghetto fix to make a 4mill crank work? or for some other kind of reason?
  16. I've been reading alot of bad things about the trinity heads too, also sucks limited to there domes, not like I care since it's just a weekend toy but still. What makes this head bad and the other brand heads better? (besides leaking which I've been reading too)
  17. How's it going everyone....just signed up and got my first new Banshee yesterday, I own several diff dirtbikes and used to have an older suzuki LT230 4 stroke until my bro sold it on me when he got back from the service. Sooo just found a DEALL and got an 03 with a fully worked engine (4mill HR crank too I think), wiseco top end, full fmf exhaust, boyesen reeds, intake, trinity stage iv head and who knows what else but engine has like less than a days driving on so that's even better. Here's some questions....it has the stage 6 heads and I was told he installed the o-rings for a COOL head and not the head that's on it and then later found it burning some white smoke out of the right cylinder. Are the o-rings different for those heads and could be causing this issue? Also said might have pinched the o-ring during assembly.....So I plan on putting on new o-rings anyway just so I know it's all done right. Also has paddle tires and I need more suitable tires for hard/soft dirt/some road use. So question is where does everybody get there parts from and who has the best pricing? I do ALL of my own work so no install work needed. From what I have seen with my mustang/evo/and other bikes all the local shops always have higher prices than as if you bought it offline. And what's a good tire for what I need? Just the rears mainly Thanks, Sean
