  1. Don't discount the capability of the KFX. If it is bone stock, you will crush him. If you run across one with pipes and a clutch that is tuned in, watch out. They are a capable enough machine that I was convinced to buy one. They are tricky to tune because the CVT controls the RPM the motor operates at. From the factory, they are tuned to run about 1500 rpms below their peak power output. Now, imagine you riding your Banshee and shifting 1500 rpms too soon all the way through the gears--that is what the stock KFX does. When the clutch is tuned in and the air/exhaust is flowing better they are a flat out wicked machine.
  2. Quicksand Motorsports
  3. Quicksand's products are the most gorgeous pieces of work that I have ever seen. LSR and most of the other brands look like a high school kid's shop project compared to Gary's work. The TIG welds are simply flawless, and the fit is spot-on. You can argue about better deals out there, but the simple fact is there is not another company out right now that has $500 arms with the quality of the Quicksands. Gary's products rival the quality of the best in the business and his customer service is without doubt second to none. When you pay for Quicksand you are not paying for name, you are paying for the work of an artist and perfectionist. 'Nuff said.
  4. I've got a Kawasaki V-Force, and with the simple mods that I have it will make that Polaris Scrambler look like a Power Wheels toy!! It is easily as fast as my Banshee with all the bolt-ons. A lot of people write the bike off as a utility quad without racks, but the people who line up next to me tend to change their opinion of it Here is a little photo of my trail beast.
  5. Look a little closer
  6. You can get a heavier spring for your shock for less than $100. If you call Eibach springs, you can give them your info and they will send you a spring that is damn near perfect for you. You have to be sure not to preload the spring past the point stated in your owner's manual. If the spring is preloaded too much, it actually will bottom out on the coils rather than the bumper on the shaft. You will also have to adjust the rebound to compensate for the addtional load associated with a higher load spring. With a simple spring change and some toying around with preload and compression you should be able to dial that shock in perfect.
  7. I have ran Works on all my quads for 10 years now, they are the most underrated shock on the market. For my last 'shee, I sprang for the Works Pro-Series piggyback shocks and let me say they are the best shock I have ever ridden including the likes of Elka. Works is a great company to deal with and their customer service is excellent. If you are unhappy with the setup on your shocks, you just send them in and they change your setup for free. Works products are great and have a much more attractive price tag than their competitors.
  8. I was one of the very first people to own a set of Quicksand arms about 3 years ago, and Burgards are what I replaced with the Quicksand arms. Burgard's quality is right at the bottom of the heap with American Star. I thrashed through 2 sets of Burgard arms in less than a year, then they told me my "lifetime warranty" was no longer in effect. To make a long story short, I bought the very first set of MX a-arms that Quicksand ever built and they are still running strong 3 years later. You can find products with as good of quality as Quicksand, but they are priced WAAYYY higher. Most of the other products in the $500-$600 range don't even hold a candle to Quicksand.
  9. Those articles are over a year old guys, the machine they are talking about IS the YFZ450.
  10. AVI is the only format I edit video in, Adobe has been flawless for me using the .avi format. Any other format compresses the video too much and ruins the quality. MPEG is okay for posting to the net and watching the post-edited video, but raw footage for editing, .avi is the only way to go.
  11. If you want to be serious about editing video with a PC, there is only one option for software. I run Adobe Premiere and it is absolutely the best. The Macintosh computers are actually better for these types of applications, but Adobe is a real good solution for use on a PC. You will be able to produce professional looking video with a MiniDV camera coupled with Adobe. The firewire cards are readily available on eBay for a little bit of nothing--you should be able to pick up a card and cable for 10-20 bucks.
  12. Check these out. They are not cheap, but are bar-none the trickest covers on the market. They have a ton of fabrics to choose from and can do some really trick stitching in the tops. Jettrim Seatcovers
  13. Stay away from those as well. The price range you are looking at I would go with Quicksand, JD Performance, or Janssen. The American Stars are junk and the Action ones look cheesy as hell to me, but thats JMO.
  14. Magnum stuff is junk, stay away from it. Go with one of the better names and you'll be glad. For just a few more dollars you can get top notch stuff--check out Quicksand Motorsports
  15. Quicksand Motorsports A-1 quality at reasonable prices--it is tough to beat a set of Quicksands.
  16. Actually after reading the rule book for GNCC, there is no displacement limit in the Pro-Production class. So theoretically, you could run a Raptor or a V-Force in the pro-production class. Hmmmmm............ I was not aware of that! This is from the GNCC website. Q: What class can the Kawasaki V-Force 700 ATV compete in? A: The V-Force is eligible for the Utility Unlimited Class (for automatic tranny quads without racks), as well as the standard classes such as First Year Racer, the 4-Stroke Novice Classes, 4-Stroke Stock, Open A and B, 4-Stroke A and B, and Pro and Pro Production.
  17. Meat, Who said anything about Tim Farr racing in the GNCC series. I was unaware the GNCC didn't change the displacement rule, I was under the impression that they were governed by the AMA/ATVA just like the GNC series. The GNC series did not change the rule on displacement, that was implemented by the AMA/ATVA and effects every sanctioned race for the 2004 season.
  18. That was just changed for the 2004 season tx, hence the yfz450 being 440cc. Honda's pull in the sport is undoubtedly what changed that rule for the 2004 season as well.
  19. Here ya go, this is how Team Green fared this year at the GNCC series. Team Green Results
  20. The Kawi can't run with the pro or pro production class, there is a 440cc cap on the engine size. Four stroke stock and unlimited is the class most of the V-Forces run in and they absolutely dominate. I believe 6 out of the 7 Team Green Riders won their respective classes mounted on the beast.
  21. A Banshee costs right at 6 grand and a 700 is 6500. In the math classes I partcipated in $6500-$6000=$500. Even a used 'shee shouldn't be 4k less than a new 700, unless it is a ratty POS. I guess I should have known better than to try and use some logic in a post like this--there is no point in discussing this any further.
  22. Good reply Wassup, I agree 100% I love Banshees and I love the 700s and if the 700 had a manual tranny it would be my perfect quad. All the machines out right now are good machines and each has its place--The Banshee will forever be king of the dunes.
  23. So what you are saying is every snowmobile made has a piece of junk, unadjustable tranny--you are right those damn belt drives suck!!!! As far as the Hondamatic is concerned--it may be a good tranny, but the Kawasaki Prairie laughs at when it passes it with its shitty belt drive . Kawasaki broke the mold when they built the V-Force, and I was real skeptical of the bike at first. After I rode one, I was a believer and had to buy one. Some people are so closed minded it makes me laugh. Look past what is in your stable--there might just be a better quad out there.
  24. How do you figure the auto tranny sucks? You must have some extensive experience riding and tuning the 700. I would like to have you in my camp to help me with my clutching and auto tranny since you seem to be such an expert.
  25. banshee # 48, May I ask what type of clutch kit you are running?
