  1. Dan can build fast shit no doubt about it. As can Mat. You will probably hear hatred toward both on this site. You will be happy with the results either way. May I ask how you came up with these two as your final choices?
  2. F1- You have any experience around the Formulas?
  3. ^^^ THIS
  4. Have you driven a Yaris? Pretty impressive automobile!
  5. Quite possibly the best advise in this thread!
  6. HA..... HE SPEAKS! It only has 100k on it. BUT I'm not interested in towing a big boat with a single rear tire 1 ton pickup with 38s on it. If I buy something that we are going to transport often then I'll buy a used 650. If it's only going to get towed 3 or 4 times a year than I'll use my buddies pickup. I called today and got a quote for studs, delete, turbo service, injector flow and service, FICM program, and a programmer. Luck would have it that I think I sold the propane sled today also so I guess I'm gonna call tomorrow and schedule an appointment. I remember years ago when I had stacked chips, propane injection and all sorts of other jazz. It was a blast to drive. Put it all back to stock when it puked the last time Ford fucked with it and it's been basically stock since. If nothing else I'm hoping to get some HP back. It won't pull a condom out of a faggots ass right now.
  7. Oh yeah. It's snappy if you feather the clutch real good, but it's a slug from 1k to 3k rpm
  8. Being that mine is a manual it is VERY doggy down low as you lug it from a stop in 1st gear.
  9. SMEVEN. .... that is not nice!
  10. Specialblend07 has some pretty trick heims... Hit him up!
  11. Back the the FICM thing. I should have the FICM done regardless if it needs it or not correct?
  12. I can't do it.
  13. Quite honestly when I figure out WTF we are doing for our next boat will dictate what I do for a new(er) vehicle. If we buy a 36-38 footer than I will buy a used Cummins powered F650 that is basically dedicated for the boat and keep this for sledding. If we buy something that is small again then I'll lower mine down a bit and rock it both seasons. I cannot get warmed up to the prices of say a new F450..... I don't see what you're getting for the $. I can spend $ with the best of them. I'm VERY good at it, but I've never been one to need a nice new vehicle every 3 years. Fack my daily is a 97 Honda Accord that's BEAT. I am upgrading this next week though, but still nothing "nice".
  14. Negative! 40 year old pussy might be used. BUT You can beat on it as hard as you can and it will never say "ouch" or "stop" It already knows what it wants so there is no learning curve. It has already been paid for once, maybe twice, so the cost per use is far less. It is older technology so typically it is simpler. They are more plentiful so parts upgrades are cheaper. Often times they come with change in the glove box. AND THE BEST... Sometimes they are owned by someone else and you get to drive them for free!
  15. South Commercial Auto has a diesel shop now. Last I asked they have done over 200 of them and they warranty their work. They have done more than 20 of them for my buddy who owns a car lot. He buys them out of the auction CHEAP (he only buys ones that have known head gasket issues) and then they go through them. Thus far, not one of his has been back for warranty.
  16. I've got 2 things going for me. I own it, and it's a manual transmission. It is 12 years old and just rolled 100k. If I can shove 4 or 5 grand into it and it will go basically trouble free for another 10 years than I'll do it. I drive the truck even less now than before and I dont have an 18k lbs toy hauler anymore, so I can only assume that it's will only see 60k in the next 10 years and will see a FAR easier life!
  17. I REFUSE to get involved in any of the newer rigs. I'll spend 4k, and smile before I drop 70k for the same or worse mileage and just as many problems. IMO all that new shit is JUNK!!
  18. Well fuck. This sounds like a 4k adventure for a pickup that's only worth 12k.... FFS
  19. Yep. Been flawless since that last trip to ford. If it ain't broke don't fix it is my attitude with this.
  20. You remember what you paid? If something like this is substantially cheaper than buying an all new unit then I'd definitely look at doing that. It looks like you can buy an entire unit for around 750-1000 bucks.
  21. I don't run any of that shit. Maybe it's an injector thing, maybe not. It gave the identical symptoms the last time it had FICM problems, but it was under warranty and obviously was replaced with an OEM unit. I've been thinking about sending it to the place here in town that specializes in these things and have them stud/delete/tune it. If I remember correctly they rebuild and or flow the injectors when they do it. I know they go through the turbo but I'll have to call about the injectors. I'll tear the fugger apart this week and put a meter on the FICM. I HATE WORKING ON VEHICLES!
  22. Just turned 100k. I'd have to find the crap from Ford the last time they had it apart (60k ago) to refresh my memory of what they did. I though they did something with the injectors but I don't remember for sure. I've had ZERO problems with it since the last time they put gaskets in it, but I also have not ran any sort of tuner since then.
