Toomey T5's and might have a ported intake. Looks cool, sounds cool, and runs great. I recently changed the anti freeze, engine oil, spark plugs, new front sprocket, new chain, new rear brake guard, new seat cover, new hand grips, and freshly rebuilt carbs with all new jets ,gaskets, and orings. Email: [email protected] for pic Thanks, Justin Montgomery, IL

Best Jetting For My Banshee?
stringbeanbowler replied to banshee_kills's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
Some good info Gotta_GoFast. Just remember to start by only making one change at a time and see how it responds. Start by warming up the engine to full operating temp and see how the Main Jet "feels" (full throttle). If you can't tell by feel....after engine is warmed up, install new plugs, haul ass in 3rd gear and rev it out for about 5 seconds straight, immediately hit the kill switch and come to stop, pull the spark plugs and read them (or do a plug chop). (google how to read a spark plug in a two stroke). After you get them main jets set, then work your way down to the needle, and then pilot. The needle jet affects the "half throttle" and pilot affects idle to 1/8th throttle or so. You have to do it in that order though cause changing the mains after setting the other two will change everything slightly. -

What's a new chain cost? And, is there anything I would need to know about buying one? Thanks, Bean -

I'll have to take off the spring or at least compress it and check for smoothness of the piston. It did not come off of my quad, but my friend says it's good. -

I don't have the grab bar anymore and the rims are 10 X 8 and they do not fit on the rear spindles, only the front. -

I just want to make sure you read the previous posts and saw that they were not in working condition. And, I would like to keep the owners manual, sorry. Let me know about just the lights. -
Here are some pics of my red, white, blue, black Banshee. Let me know what you think

Mikuni Carb Adjustments
stringbeanbowler replied to stringbeanbowler's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I pulled the carbs apart today and I looked at the needle and didn't see any markings on it telling me what size it was. It also had 6 positions to place the clip when the clymer book shows that the stock one is supposed to have 5. Maybe an aftermarket needle? I have a question about the washer by the c clip. What side of the c clip does it go on? So here's my setup and dilema: 25 Pilot jet, 340 Main jet, needle clip in the #2 position from the top out of 6, air screw 2 turns out. With the air screw 1.75 turns out, the main jet spark plug reading was rich. When I turned it 2 turns out, the plug looked perfect at W.O.T., but I checked the plugs after an 1/8th throttle run and it was wet and had a little carbon on the rim, and I had the same result for 1/2 throttle. how can I fine tune that? -

I will, thanks. If I remember right..... only change one setting at a time, and start with the mains, right? Eventually, I want to experiment with the pilots and the needle clip position to find the best / safest combo. -

Thanks for the info. I'll do some testing -
Hey all, I bought a 1997 Banshee last year from my friend who said it was a stock motor. He had 260 main jets in it and it seemed a tad lean. The plugs confirmed it, but they weren't too bad. I recently took the reeds out to check em and saw that the intake was ported. I put some 320 main jets in there and it ran better, but my main question is the air screw and pilot jets. How many turns out should it be for my particular setup, and what Pilot jets should I try, if any? I know everything is trial and error, but there is usually a safe starting point. Mods: Intake ported (not polished), Toomey T5's, 2 into 1 Foam air filter pod (with outerwear) with air enclosure completely removed, Tors removed, Boost bottle (whoop de doo), 32:1 fuel ratio. If there are any other mods, I haven't seen them. I altitude is 600ft and temp is 50 degrees farenheit. I heard I should set the needle clip to 1 step leaner and increase the pilot jet, but not sure to what size. Thanks in advance. This is a great site and YES I did try the search field before posting this.

I talked to my friend that has those headlights in the pic and one of them is fine, but the other one needs a new case. The little metal clip on the bottom that holds the case together is missing, but the headlights work. He said $40 plus shipping and you can have them. -
New here and to banshees in general
stringbeanbowler replied to robs400's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I'm going to be a smart ass and say "check the fluid levels before starting" Also, hit the grease zerks every so often, and don't grease the brake bleeders. Welcome to Banshee HQ and enjoy your Banshee. They are a blast. -
Where do you live? Maybe someone is close by and can help. What do your spark plugs look like? Also, check to see if the mixture screw on the carbs are the same as the other

I bought a pair from F.A.S.T. (site sponsor) and they were $8.00 a piece. Good guys too. 1 (785) 364-5325

I would trade my red tank for your blue tank if you are interested. I doubt you are, but I'm just throwing that out there. It's in great condition.

I'm in the same boat. I bought a blue, black, and white graphics kit and seat cover, and I can't make up my mind to replace the red or not. I have it all done, just can't make up my mind if it looks good. I'm also not sure if I want to go with the gold wheels or stick with the polished. If anyone can tell me how to post pics in the text line, I would do that. Also, I don't have a pic of the quad with the seat cover installed yet. http://sz0174.ev.mai...t=1267559612826

One of the lights needs parts and the other works if I remember right. I'll double check later. The rims fit the spacing for the front spindles / lugs, but they are really wide. More like for a 4x4 quad. I believe the pic shows that they are 10 inches tall by 8 inches wide.
