  1. Been watching this thread for something I might have but I don't have many parts laying around and none needed. Really proud of all the folks here and their generosity.
  2. I will have to look into that. Not sure where to get race gas around Tulsa though. Hard enough to find any super unleaded above 91. Shouldn't be hard to figure out. Been looking into pipes and thinking PT Mids or FMF Gold Series Fatty's, T5's or Pro Circuits. Don't want to give up too much bottom end or I think I would be looking PT High Rev's. Oh well gives me something more to research. Maybe just buy a used set of shearer's for the trips to the dunes and keep my Gnarly's for the trail. Not that hard to change out.
  3. Hmm What next? I bought my girl with a lot work done already to the motor and I worked over the exterior and brought her back up to snuff mechanically and maintenance wise, added suspension as well. Mods in my sig. I am looking to see if there is anything else I can do to her performance wise without getting into the big buck items. They will have to wait a year or two if I go there at all. Thinking about trading my pipes for something more mid to high end centric as the Gnarly's are great on the bottom end but I find myself topping out on the revs but other than that, I am stumped. Can't think of anything else besides cheetah /cub cylinders or crank work. I ride a pretty even mix of trails, dunes and flat track style (not actual racing) Suggestions?
  4. I have read on here that the 01 raptor 660 rear shock will bolt up. 01 only though.
  5. Looking for a low end nhk cartridge style steering stabilizer, Denton, Noss, PEP, gibson etc (low end cuz I am a broke ass cheap bastid)
  6. If that doesnt work for you, go ahead and drill through the other side where the indentation is at. You are going to have to drill through it anyway and it lines up pretty well with the screw. I had same problem and the bit tore through the crew enough to pop it right out. Be warned tho, that kickstarted material is tough stuff. I burned up 3 drill bits before I finally got mine completed.
  7. Been googling and reading through here but not finding a lot. Seems everything is chrome. Found some T5's and Shearers but wondering who else may be making them in the raw steel. New or used, as when I am ready for some I will look used first so if they are not in production that's ok.
  8. Ok maybe it's the "windin down from the week booze" talkin or maybe it's that totally in love phaze with my first shee thing. You know like the first few months of an awesome relationship? Shee is all I can think, shee consumes my thoughts... I was listening to some old toons, (yeah I am on old dude) Pearl Jam's Ten cd, Candlebox, Tesla, Alice In chains and enjoying some cold ones. I am doing some Inet surfin and find a test from ATV rider magazine on the 03 shee. They are all talkin shit about it... old dinosaur, suspension sucks, why would anyone ride this? Only for nostagia purposes, can't compare to a modern 4 poke etc... blah blah blah..ad nauseum. PISSED ME OFF!! It got me to thinking too. Why do I love this quad so much? Why do we all love our banshees? I think for all of us the reason will be different but with some common threads. So I thought I would share mine and I would love to hear what makes her special to you as well. I know I am new around here but I think you can all see the love I put into my shee before I even took her for a ride! I worked on her for a month spending every spare dime before even cranking her over. My story goes back to 1982 when I bought my first dirt bike with money I had saved from bussing tables on fri and sat night at the steak house across the street. I was 14 and hooked on dirt. rebuilt my first engine at 15 including tooling my own cylinder in machine shop for an xr200. I rode dirt bikes for the next 4 years until I got married and lost my edge. I was worried about getting hurt, 'who would take care of my wife?' One of my buddies had bought one of the original quadracer 250's and we teased him about it. Real men did it on two wheels LOL. I had to try it out tho and found that I wasn't worried while on it about layin it over, everything felt so natural. I picked up a thrashed 85 LT250r of my own in 86 and restored it. I loved it! I was a YAMAHA man tho. My bro Brian was into Honda and Honda was king in the 80's offroad scene. Magazine shootouts were huge braggin rights through my teens and I always defended my Yammerhammers. 1987 and here comes the Banshee and I was instantly in love. Like a V-Max for the dirt! So much power and personality and looked so much meaner than the trx 250's and even my own Suzook. I was soon to be a first time father tho so no way I could afford one. I dreamed of having one some day of my own. That dream never completely died. Well 2 yrs later my wife split and stole my quadracer. I went through a messy divorce and picked up a cheap dirtbike again just to have something to ride. Rode it for a couple years and just somehow faded out of offroading. Fast forward 14 years. I met my current wife and she got me into street riding. I ride an 05 R6 and a 00 Sabre 1100 as well. I am now 40 and make a decent living. My nephew in law is running on hard times and is going to sell his dad's old banshee which just happens to have been the personal race bike of one of the NE Oklahoma's best banshee guru's. Nice fat tax return and bam, I know have realized a 22 yr old dream of owning my own banshee. That first ride was magical. I don't care about the suspension, the handling. I love the 'feel', the unmistakable sound and look of this one of a kind kick ass classic. I will keep this girl forever for personal sentimental reasons. Makes me want to buy another and tear it down and pack every part away in long term storage to ensure i will have parts after they stop making them. I don't care what the Raptor can do, I don't care how much plusher or better handling the YFZ 450 is. I don't even want to ever ride one cuz I am perfectly happy with my shee. One nice thing about being away for almost 20 yrs from quads, my body and mind still recall 1980's suspension and handling so I feel right at home and happy with my girl. Why would I want to ride something else without a soul and mess that up? I am an old fart and I love my banshee for who shee was, where shee has been and who shee is today. I always have...I always will. Rob
  9. Size 15 shoe here and I picked up a pair of brand new clearance AXO's 14's (they run BIG) off ebay. Still breakin them in but I had a pair of Axo's years ago and they did pretty well. For 47 bucks I couldn't pass them up. I am having some issues with them shifting tho. Hoping they loosen up a bit.
  10. I really wanted to buy new ones but this was a very unexpected purchase so they just were not in the budget. I cleaned up the old ones and started to sanding but they were in really bad shape with some scratches and gouges to deep to sand out. I bought a couple of cans of rustoleum bedliner spray, taped off the areas for the graphics and went to town. Worked beautifully and gave it tough flat black look with a light texture that covered the scratches very well. The Rustoleum has a very light texture, unlike the Rhino Liner of PlatiKote. Then I put three coats of Fusion black over the tops of the fenders to give it a little shine and provide a good mounting surface for the graphics. Applied the graphics and then two coats of clear coat to seal them on. It still looks mostly flat but when the sun hits the clear coat just right, it almost has a glitter effect to it. Cost about $50 in paint, liner and prep materials for the plastics, frame and wheels but very easy to touch up if needed and should get me through a year or two when I will pop for a new set and complete tear down for some powder coating. Cheers
  11. Thanks man, I am really pleased with the way it turned out. As to the hoses, I had read a post here on the HQ about a company that would give you a 5' sample. It was an older thread I had searched on but gave it a shot and they sent it right out. I was just honest with them and told them I liked doing resto work and had heard about thier product for this application and wanted to try it out but did not need 50' to start with. They were cool about it and cost me nothing. www.newageindustries.com Product number 2900611-S
  12. Anyone got a piece o' shit beat up seat laying around? I could use one but not desperate or anything so holding out for on around 20 bucks or so shipped to 74066. Hate to be a cheap bastid about it, but still paying off the parts for the resto and wife has been awesome about all the time and money I put into it but even she has her limits LOL I had ordered new seat cover from PowerPlay on ebay a month ago and they sent me the wrong one... twice. I finally talked to the dude and he was way cool about it and told me to keep the one you see below and he would send me the one I ordered as well. I like both of them a lot so figure I will wait for a steal on a trashed base/latch/foam and recover it with the new black and yellow cover and use it for sand and use this black embossed one for trail/dirt. So hook a brother up with some free/cheap shit will ya? Got a set of O'neal aluminum bars and a stock chrome rear grab bar with some rash on it that I could trade if that helps.
  13. LOL, I wouldn't flame ya man. I appreciate checkin my ride out. It's the original motor but not stock. It already had the 20cc domes, cool head, stator with advanced timing and race porting (and pwk's, K&N system, exhaust and Vforce cage and reeds) when I got it. Motor rocked already, but everything else was really rough and just plain shot. I had to do the less glamourous work, brakes, bads, controls, hoses, rust removal, kickstarter rebuild etc. I prolly would have done the 4 mil kit if I had to start from scratch but she screams as is. Motor was done by one of the top Banshee guys in this part of the state a few years back, previous owner didn't want to get into the bottom end tho at the time. It has pretty much sat since then so motor was still really tight.
  14. Love it man. Great contrast.
  15. Yeah it is actually, I shortened it up so it isn't touching now though. I didn't even notice it at first until I was washing it down after riding all day Saturday and not a mark on it. That 350 degree Silibraid is really good stuff. Still feel better with it raised up off the pipe now tho. The rear caliper is missing too, mine was seized up solid. Got one from baddshee on here but it didn't come in until sat night after i got back from riding.
  16. So how hard is it to get a tent campsite Snake Hunt weekend? We have a huge product roll out at work that week so I would only be able to go up for the weekend. Any chance at all of a tent site at 11pm friday night or even 10am sat morning? I see folks talking about reserving sites, if I got a group together to go, how do the reservations work? Would love to go and meet some of you guys but just don't see it happening arriving so late. May just go up the weekend before when not so crowded but being Easter weekend, not sure how many of the guys would go.
  17. Sounds like you guys a great time. Was hoping to get mine completed and ready in time but was not to be. I am planning a trip on April 11-12, Easter weekend. Prolly not a good weekend for most but hope to meet some HQ folks out there.
  18. Thanks for the compliments, so much more to do to it but didn't have much time to get it ready to ride for this spring. This was my wife's only brother's banshee and he was killed on his Busa 3 years ago by a drunk driver so we will keep it forever. Has a lot of sentimental value so no end in site on what I will do to keep refining and making it even more special. Was definitely a labor of love and worth it all when his son saw it completed and just stood there stunned with a tear in his eye and said 'pop would be proud', and gave me a big hug.
  19. When I got her she had a heart of gold, great engine and was sorely neglected every where else. This restoration job was my 6th, mostly dirtbikes though. 80% cosmetic work. Will tear it down next winter and do all the bearings and seals but I took her out over the weekend and popped her restoration cherry and she rode great. My first Banshee and I abso-freakin-utely love it. What do you think guys?
  20. I am at work and do not have my manual but I am pretty sure that they are 15/16" ID but 3/4"ID will work. I just changed mine out this weekend with some High temp clear braided and used 3/4". The engine sides are a little tight but I warmed up the tip in boiling water for a few sec and they slipped right on. Length is about 2 feet each.
  21. Went to change the rear brake pads on this Banshee I recently bought and found the caliper is seized up solid, can't even break it loose to rebuild it. Anyone got one laying around in good working order on the cheap? If so send me a quote for it shipped price to 74066 please. I don't need pads for it, just good mechanical condition. Sent a couple of pm's for ones for sale in the Sale forum but they are a little older threads so posting here too in case I don't get a reply or they are gone. Thanks!
  22. Yellow Steel Front Wheel 4x156 10x5.5AT markings on wheel. Bolts up to my 99 Banshee and I have heard it will fit a warrior, raptor and yfz 450 as well. Paint is not perfect around edges but wheel is in good shape. I need an aluminum 10x6.0AT so would trade with a few bucks kicked in or sell for $25.00 shipped to lower 48.
