You cannot honestly think that some sugar crazed kid is learning about Jesus when he is looking for colored eggs in the yard or eating chicken shaped marshmallows. And you can't honestly believe that the same kid is going to be learning about Jesus while he's singing about Santa coming down the chimney to give him a new remote control car or a playstation. The point you are missing about the holidays is that they have not changed. They are still festivals to the pagan gods of fertility. What you are saying is that God has accepted these wicked festivals and that he has now for some reason completely reversed his hatred for these pagan celebrations and has somehow made them OK. That would make god the biggest hypocrite of all time. It would make him a terrorist, a liar, untrustworthy and pretty much everything else he has condemned. God does not change his views on matters, he cannot lie and he does not test people with wickedness. rjv... I have and continue to accept Jesus as the only way to salvation. Without his sacrifice, there is no forgiveness for sin. My religious affiliation and my past has nothing to do with this conversation. (Ephesians 4:19-24) 19 Having come to be past all moral sense, they gave themselves over to loose conduct to work uncleanness of every sort with greediness. 20 But YOU did not learn the Christ to be so, 21 provided, indeed, that YOU heard him and were taught by means of him, just as truth is in Jesus, 22 that YOU should put away the old personality which conforms to YOUR former course of conduct and which is being corrupted according to his deceptive desires; 23 but that YOU should be made new in the force actuating YOUR mind, 24 and should put on the new personality which was created according to God's will in true righteousness and loyalty. And how does that thought fit in with this scripture?...(Hebrews 10:26-31) 26 For if we practice sin willfully after having received the accurate knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice for sins left, 27 but [there is] a certain fearful expectation of judgment and [there is] a fiery jealousy that is going to consume those in opposition. 28 Any man that has disregarded the law of Moses dies without compassion, upon the testimony of two or three. 29 Of how much more severe a punishment, do YOU think, will the man be counted worthy who has trampled upon the Son of God and who has esteemed as of ordinary value the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and who has outraged the spirit of undeserved kindness with contempt? 30 For we know him that said: "Vengeance is mine; I will recompense"; and again: "Jehovah will judge his people." 31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of [the] living God. What you are saying is that God allowed his son to die for the benefit of people who trust in him and no matter how badly they act, they can say the magic word and Jesus will come in and save the rotten liar from God who would have otherwise destroyed them. The above scripture shows that by trampling on the knowledge of Jesus once you have received it, is an automatic death sentence. This is what I've been saying all along. You need to do more than just say what you believe you need to live it.

Maybe you should listen to one of Tori Amos' songs. Obviously she was being raped while everyone else downstairs was singing and praying. Sounds like a great time. I guess since they are all saved, Tori is just outta luck. Now if it turns out she liked it, should she "do unto" her kids? Of course that would not be the case. The fact remains that it doesn't matter whether we enjoy something or not. It matters whether God approves of it or not. If we are doing something just to please each other with no regard for God's laws on the matter, we are not slaves of Christ and thus purposely fail to please God... (Galatians 1:10-12) 10

I can see that you do not want to get into a discussion on the meanings of words because you like to dream up your own understanding and apply it to words of your choice. For example, you say that "Submit yourselves for the Lord's sake to every human institution" means "God wants his followers to represent the will of God "in every human intitution"." So you don't know or want to know what "submit" means. Anyone should be able to read this simple sentance and come to the understanding of what it says... Put yourselves under the authority of every human institution {An established organization or foundation, especially one dedicated to education, public service, or culture.} for the sake {Also for one's sake. Out of consideration or regard for a person or thing; for someone's or something's advantage or good.} of the Lord. Why are they allowed to have this authority??? "for the punishment of evildoers and the praise of those who do right". It's not hard to read what is actually there and understand it. It doesn't matter to me and it shouldn't matter to you. Are you going to send me gifts for Christmas now? Should I tell you what I want or are you going to just put the receipt in the bag? Better yet, just send cash. Jesus would want it that way

My parents were nazi skinheads and I got gifts on Hitlers brithday. I got the linching playset with little plastic black kids and the gas chamber playset with jews, gays and gypsies. It doesn't matter what I got and when I got it does it? In fact, Hitler was also "saved" and during his reign of terror, he was never expelled from the Catholic church. He was also the authority in that whole region at the time. Did God approve him? Afterall the church supported him and even had a papal "hands off" agreement with him. I don't know how you made the quantum leap from "submit yourself for the Lords sake" which means submit yourself for the benefit of the Lord to run out and vote for a human. Following your heart is a common idea among all kinds of people today but the bible says just the opposite. (Jeremiah 17:9) 9 "The heart is more treacherous than anything else and is desperate. Who can know it? And knowing that Jesus' followers would be no part of the world, you still recommend that followers of Jesus should immerse themselves in the world. What about all the "christians" who voted the opposite of the resulting outcome? In all the elections from this country's beginning, "christians" have voted for both sides. How have they done gods will by expending themselves to elect the opposite person who wins? First of all, there is no indication that God ever needed an election to install the person of his choice in any position. He put David, a lowly shepherd, as king of his nation. He used Moses the throw away child of a slave to lead his nation. He made Joseph 2nd in command of a world power. And thru all of this he never held 1 election. God doesn't ask peoples opinion before putting someone into a position he wants them in. He is God, he does what he wants and doesn't need any human help at all. It's amazing to me that you can read scriptures that tell christians to be no part of the world, that the world is under the power of the wicked one, that the rulers of the world will be destroyed by God's kingdom, that God's followers should not put trust in human rulers who have no way to bring salvation, that Satan acknowledges he has rulership over the world and you still suggest that burying yourself in every activity of the world is somehow acceptable. A few more scritures for you... (Luke 4:5-8) 5 So he brought him up and showed him all the kingdoms of the inhabited earth in an instant of time; 6 and the Devil said to him: "I will give you all this authority and the glory of them, because it has been delivered to me, and to whomever I wish I give it. 7 You, therefore, if you do an act of worship before me, it will all be yours." 8 In reply Jesus said to him: "It is written, 'It is Jehovah your God you must worship, and it is to him alone you must render sacred service.'" Intersting how Jesus said you must only render sacred service to God and not the world. (1 John 2:15-17) 15 Do not be loving either the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him; 16 because everything in the world-the desire of the flesh and the desire of the eyes and the showy display of one's means of life-does not originate with the Father, but originates with the world. 17 Furthermore, the world is passing away and so is its desire, but he that does the will of God remains forever. Speaking of the time just before God destroys wickness, {notice the "signs of the times"} the bible says that all will hate god's people... (Mark 13:8-13) 8 "For nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, there will be earthquakes in one place after another, there will be food shortages. These are a beginning of pangs of distress. 9 "As for YOU, look out for yourselves; people will deliver YOU up to local courts, and YOU will be beaten in synagogues and be put on the stand before governors and kings for my sake, for a witness to them. 10 Also, in all the nations the good news has to be preached first. 11 But when they are leading YOU along to deliver YOU up, do not be anxious beforehand about what to speak; but whatever is given YOU in that hour, speak this, for YOU are not the ones speaking, but the holy spirit is. 12 Furthermore, brother will deliver brother over to death, and a father a child, and children will rise up against parents and have them put to death; 13 and YOU will be objects of hatred by all people on account of my name. But he that has endured to the end is the one that will be saved. Are you saying that these courts and nations and "all people" have been put there by God to torture and kill his own obedient children? I admire your dedication to the thoughts you've developed. But when the Bible says to do all things for the sake of the Lord, and you tell me that means to go and vote for someone whose every action goes against what the Lord stands for, I'm hard pressed to go along with that.

Let me walk you thru this... Submit yourself for the lords sake. That means as long as it is approved by the Lord, submit yourself. ... to every human institution, whether to a king as the one in authority, or to governors. This means the proper authorities in the place where you reside and the governments in the country you reside in. ... as sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and the praise of those who do right. This means the governments are there to provide punishment for wrongdoing and commendation for those who follow the law. ... For such is the will of God that by doing right you may silence the ignorance of foolish men. Gods wants his followers to be obedient to the authorities so that his people cannot be accused of being against organization and so his followers will not be lumped together as trouble makers. ... Act as free men, and do not use your freedom as a covering for evil, but use it as bondslaves of God. We are all free to decide for ourselves what we want to do but God wants us to use our free will to slave for Him and not as an excuse for evil doing. ... Honor all men; love the brother hood, fear God honor the king. Pretty self explanitory here. What you don't find in this scripture is the requirement to obey the ruling authorities in all things. For example, Chritians in Germany were under no obligation to obey Hitler, Christians in Korea are under no obligation to drop nuclear bombs on the US, Christians in Afghanistan are under no obligation to poison their fellow man with chemical weapons, Christians in America are under no obligation to go to these other countries and kill the equally mislead christians on the other side. Again, the rulers of the world are just what Jesus said his followers would NOT be... part of the world. (John 15:18-21) 18 If the world hates YOU, YOU know that it has hated me before it hated YOU. 19 If YOU were part of the world, the world would be fond of what is its own. Now because YOU are no part of the world, but I have chosen YOU out of the world, on this account the world hates YOU. 20 Bear in mind the word I said to YOU, A slave is not greater than his master. If they have persecuted me, they will persecute YOU also; if they have observed my word, they will observe YOURS also. 21 But they will do all these things against YOU on account of my name, because they do not know him that sent me. Christians should see that not only do the rulers of the world in general not like them, they will actively persecute them if they adhere too closely to Jesus' example.

From the very begining, God has never transfered his rights to anyone else. He has commanded that obedience be paid to the governing authorities of the world as long as those authorities do not conflict with God's commands. From the times of Egypt God allowed his people to be under the rulership of unrighteous rulers but only until they went beyond his righteous standards. Then he would rescue them. In fact it is more often the case that even these immoral rulers would be blessed when they treated God's servants well and when they tolerated the worship that was given exclusively to God. Whenever there was a conflict between the 2, God comes first. In fact when Peter and the other apostles were faced with a demand by the leaders of their day, Peter said... (Acts 5:29) 29

And here is the point yet again... the scriptures you quoted say "if". So a person who says they are without sin cannot know if they are saved until they have faithfully endured to the end and God extends the mercy that is fitting. Think about it. If a person can gain salvation and then purposely sin with no adverse effects God's whole system of right and wrong is useless. How can you imagine that God punishes willful sinners and at the same time rewards sinners with everlasting life? I agree with the scriptures that show that God can put our sins as far away from us as the sunrise is from the sunset, but look at Psalm 103:17-19. It shows that those who fear him and are keeping his covenants are the ones that will have thrones in heaven. In addition to this you are saying that... How can the Devil win and yet the willful sinner gets the reward? Sin is sin and willful sin deserves death. (Ezekiel 18:4) 4 Look! All the souls-to me they belong. As the soul of the father so likewise the soul of the son-to me they belong. The soul that is sinning-it itself will die. So you ask if I trust in Jesus for salvation or some Jesus and some of me. The answer is salvation only belongs to God. He alone allowed his son to make this great sacrifice on our behalf, and only he can decide who he wants to extend that salvation to. I guess the difference between me and other "christians" is that I want to demonstrate on a daily basis that I appreciate this great sacrifice and I want others to be able to see a difference between a genuine christian and one who talks the talk but doesn't walk the walk. I love God and his son and like the love I profess for my wife, there should never be any doubt by anyone whether that love is real or not. A "christian" who says they are saved and then goes on to commit willful sin has abandoned everything Jesus stands for and they deserve death, permanent, final, irreversable death. Fortunately, God is the one who can read hearts and make that determination.

I am so so sorry to hear of this unspeakable loss.

Sorry for my absence. I will be reviewing the topics as we left them and I would like to know if I have missed anything so it can be addressed. As I recall it was stated... Once a person is "saved", there is no wrong they can do. Their salvation is guaranteed. However, the bible states that a person must not only accept the knowledge of the bible and the sacrifice of Jesus, but they must continue in it... (1 John 2:1-6) 2 My little children, I am writing YOU these things that YOU may not commit a sin. And yet, if anyone does commit a sin, we have a helper with the Father, Jesus Christ, a righteous one. 2 And he is a propitiatory sacrifice for our sins, yet not for ours only but also for the whole world's. 3 And by this we have the knowledge that we have come to know him, namely, if we continue observing his commandments. 4 He that says: "I have come to know him," and yet is not observing his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in this [person]. 5 But whoever does observe his word, truthfully in this [person] the love of God has been made perfect. By this we have the knowledge that we are in union with him. 6 He that says he remains in union with him is under obligation himself also to go on walking just as that one walked. I also recall the question being posed that if I accepted candy was I damned for that? What you don't seem to understand is that any activity that goes against the simple rules in the bible is a treasonous act. I'm confident that it's been abundantly explained that Easter is a pagan festival. Because of that, observing any aspect of Easter is a sin. To willfully sin is unforgivable since it is a purposeful rejection of everything God stands for. To willfully sin is a way of rejecting God and adopting the Devil. (1 John 3:4-8) 4 Everyone who practices sin is also practicing lawlessness, and so sin is lawlessness. 5 YOU know too that that one was made manifest to take away [our] sins, and there is no sin in him. 6 Everyone remaining in union with him does not practice sin; no one that practices sin has either seen him or come to know him. 7 Little children, let no one mislead YOU; he who carries on righteousness is righteous, just as that one is righteous. 8 He who carries on sin originates with the Devil, because the Devil has been sinning from [the] beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was made manifest, namely, to break up the works of the Devil. Many people will say that it's just a piece of candy but if it is a step away from pleasing God then it's a step I'm not willing to take. My parents have nothing to do with my behaviour and whether I fit in with everyone else is really beside the point. Each adult makes a decision as to the direction they want to go in life whether consciously or not. God does not go looking for reasons to punish his children but he also does not tolerate willful disobedience. God is never unrighteous or unreasonable. So he protects the innocent and keeps the innocent from contamination by the wicked. Like any good parent, he will adjust the child with mild direction and cast off the unreformed. And for any child who truly loves their parent, obedience is not difficult, accidents are freely forgiven by the loving parent and the bond between the two grows stronger every day. Like I said before, if you have any other questions, please post them in a clear order and I will be happy to reply.

brooke loves me The first of the 10 commandments is that "you should not have another God against my face". God condemned the pagans because they worshipped the things he created instead of worshipping the creator. Because of this I will not intentionally give him any reason to even question my dedication. Notice I said intentionally. I make mistakes every day and because he personifies love, I am confident that he can forgive me for those mistakes. Hypocrisy however is a form of lying because a person says one thing and does another. Hypocrites purposely say or do things to make others think in a way that is not true. Because God has condemned lying, there is no way he could acccept intentional lying from any of his servants. If he condemned people for lying but then accepted liars, he would be a liar/ 2face himself. God has given each person with a conscience. That conscience is the basis for many of the basic laws around th world. Lying is frowned upon in every civilization around the world. No if a man dedicates himself to a woman but every year on their anniversary he goes and has sex with his old girlfriend, how is he faithful? He still wants to be married, he has not pursued a divorce, still claims to love his wife. But annually he prove his treacherous intent by sleeping with other women. Even if it's once a year, it's still wrong. What you don't seem to be understanding is that no matter what you say, what you are doing shows what kind of person you are inside. The bible says that if you are "faithful in least, you are faithful in much". This is the same reason I would never vote. The bible says over and over again not to put your trust in humans yet millions of "christians" every year do exactly that. This too is treachery. To say you serve god but at the same time put your faith in a foolish man is to spit in the face of god. Which is a move I never intend to try. Did that answer it for you?
-
You misquoted me. And as a refresher, do you know what the 10 commandments are?
-
I fully understand that you cannot earn your way into salvation. It is only God who can make that decision. However faith and works must be seen at the same time. rj said it himself... faith without works is dead. When Jesus was asked how his followers would be identified he said... (Matthew 7:15-20) 15 "Be on the watch for the false prophets that come to YOU in sheep's covering, but inside they are ravenous wolves. 16 By their fruits YOU will recognize them. Never do people gather grapes from thorns or figs from thistles, do they? 17 Likewise every good tree produces fine fruit, but every rotten tree produces worthless fruit; 18 a good tree cannot bear worthless fruit, neither can a rotten tree produce fine fruit. 19 Every tree not producing fine fruit gets cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Really, then, by their fruits YOU will recognize those [men]. This plainly indicates that IF there is no obvious difference between a follower of christ and everyone else, then there is really is no difference. Like it says, you pick figs from fig trees and you cannot get good things from a rotten tree. It even goes on to say that even if someone cries out to him even in a crisis, he will not answer unless they are completely obedient to God and not just saying they are christian... 21 "Not everyone saying to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but the one doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens will. 22 Many will say to me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and expel demons in your name, and perform many powerful works in your name?' 23 And yet then I will confess to them: I never knew YOU! Get away from me, YOU workers of lawlessness. Even beyond that, it is explained that a persons behaviour in all things DOES effect the prospects for salvation... (Matthew 12:36-37) 36 I tell YOU that every unprofitable saying that men speak, they will render an account concerning it on Judgment Day; 37 for by your words you will be declared righteous, and by your words you will be condemned." So a persons actions are a direct result of what they are on the inside. If they are no different from the rest of the world, they are not Christian. In fact Jesus said that his followers would be nothing like the rest of the world. (John 15:18-19) 18 If the world hates YOU, YOU know that it has hated me before it hated YOU. 19 If YOU were part of the world, the world would be fond of what is its own. Now because YOU are no part of the world, but I have chosen YOU out of the world, on this account the world hates YOU. So hopefully that explains it. I am not trying to blend in because blending in is not Jesus' purpose. I do not celebrate christmas or easter because these are based on things that are opposite of what Jesus stands for. I do not vote because Jesus literally ran from the chance to be a politician and I have no faith in any foolish human to provide me with an sort of lasting security. I do not believe in Hell because the entire concept is a demonic idea developed by greedy religious hypocrites to make uneducated people afraid of God who personifies love. I, like Jesus, will never blend in to the world. (Mark 3:28-29) 28 Truly I say to YOU that all things will be forgiven the sons of men, no matter what sins and blasphemies they blasphemously commit. 29 However, whoever blasphemes against the holy spirit has no forgiveness forever, but is guilty of everlasting sin.". . . (Hebrews 10:26-29) 26 For if we practice sin willfully after having received the accurate knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice for sins left, 27 but [there is] a certain fearful expectation of judgment and [there is] a fiery jealousy that is going to consume those in opposition. 28 Any man that has disregarded the law of Moses dies without compassion, upon the testimony of two or three. 29 Of how much more severe a punishment, do YOU think, will the man be counted worthy who has trampled upon the Son of God and who has esteemed as of ordinary value the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and who has outraged the spirit of undeserved kindness with contempt? sooo... care to revise that?

It was spark plug boots for me. They were all messed up inside but I didn't see that until I took them off.

So are you saying that as long as I accept Jesus as savior, I can do anything I want after that and still be saved?

I've got a rear maier plastic. trade it off pretty affordable. Send me an email... [email protected]

Spray down the shock shaft with spray silicone. If that doesn't do it, take the pivot bolts loose and put grease on the insides of the dust caps. If you have skid plates on the A arms, they may be a little loose.

When Christmas, Easter, or a Hell for eternal torture find their way into the bible, I'll be there doin' it too. You can't honestly think that I would change my entire life to avoid tossing some cheap gifts to a bunch of unappreciative folks who don't want to give gifts either. And salvation is God's decision not mine. But The bible is chock full of simple instructions that anyone can understand that should help you see if your own behaviour is approved by God or not. Hypocrisy should be one of the easy ones.

As it has been adequately explained, easter is not a holiday to glorify God or his Son Jesus. It is a holiday that is firmly based on pagan fertility rituals that are offensive to god and that have now become a tradition that is by name only a celebration of Jesus' death. Saying one thing and doing another is hypocrisy. So when Jesus saw those who were not only in a prominant religious position but were also those in charge of the churches doing one thing and saying another, he told them... (Mark 7:5-8) 5
-
josh... a good chunk of that info on easter was posted early on in this discussion. It was a very well written expose' on the origin of easter. This conversation has kind of morphed into christmas too but the origins are similar. You have done well to find these things without having to be pointed in that direction. 98... maybe you should start a new posting {probably in the roosting room... religious discussion get's pretty passionate} I'd be happy to contribute. Just give me a holla, I rarely go in there. Maybe you could have a poll in there too

When did that change, from what it was then to what it is now, take place? I guess I come from the school of thought that if it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it's a duck. And what's wrong with the other 364 days of the year? The stiffnecked people of Israel repeatedly disobeyed God even after they were repeatedly saved by him and when they wanted to cover up their sinful worship of the pagan god they created, they called it a celebration to God. Sounds alot like christmas and easter. You quoted the scripture that shows that faith without works is dead. So when you express your faith in exactly the same way, on the same day, with all the same people that are engaged in a pagan practice, what kind of works are you using to demonstrate your faith? That's like saying... I smoke weed but I'm thinking of Jesus or... I'm beating my wife but I'm thinking about Jesus, I'm stealling cars but thinking about Jesus. I think you get my point. A thought from Ephesians... (Ephesians 4:17-24) 17

The simple answer to that is do what Jesus did. He told his closest followers to hold a remeberance of him on the same night as the passover celebration. This year it was last Thursday after sundown. When you go to a funeral for a repected member of the community or a loved family member do you go there and hand out chocolates, throw a party and name the party after the person who killed your dear friend? When I had the opportunity to visit the Arlington cemetary I went to the tomb of the unknown soldier to pay my respects for their great sacrifice. As I looked around just prior to the changing of the guard, people were reclined on the steps of the tomb, snacking on chips, kids running around making a bunch of noise. Just before the changing of the guard, a high ranking soldier explained that this was a place to show respect for the fallen soldiers and not a picnic area. He told everyone that it was appropriate to be silent and be standing to honor these fallen ones and as a demonstration of their respect. I don't think it would be too much to ask to show as much respect for Jesus who gave far more than any other person in history. Another personal example... I went to Venezuela for vacation. Some of the people in our group thought it would be a kind gesture to hand out some sweets to the kids on the day we planned to go into town. A couple days later, we rented a car and headed into town. As we approached town, there were cars parked all along the sides of the streets. Families were getting out and walking along the roads toward town. As we drove by, the people stared at us in an angry way. We were smiling like idiots because we were having a good time and planned to spread a little joy to the kids. Because the scowling was so pervasive, we decided to just drive thru town quietly and do the candy drop some other time. Once we got back to the resort we asked the guy at the rental place why there were so many people on the road. He said that the president of the country had died recently and the funeral service was being held in the town that we drove thru. As it turns out the president died under mysterious circumstances and the new president {who was staying in the resort across the bay from ours} was suspected of foul play. I can only imagine what would have happened if we had gone into town and desecrated their funeral observance by getting the kids all stoked up on free candy. Obviously it was a time to reflect on the memory of the fallen leader and show respect. So the remembering of Jesus great sacrifice should not be a time to party and certainly should not be an opportunity to promote the pagan beliefs that he worked tirelessly to protect his followers from.
