What should my timing be set at?
stageIVbanshee replied to jbones's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
what causes detonation? how can you find out before it blows? does it make a knocking noise and if so how loud is it? do i need 110 octane if i advance the timing? stage IV head w/ 20cc domes boyesen reeds fmf fattys with powercore 2 bored .50mm over 40mm single carb -
i ordered the adjustable ricky stator timing plate!!! cant wait til it gets here!!! i want to see if that is the problem with my baby!!
-
nope it has a metering rod so you just turn it to let more or less fuel in. i dont know if there is an air screw on the lectrons but i never looked for it so i will check tomorrow morning. i am going to get the timing plate and run 93, would that be ok for the motor?
-
its not a jetting issue because i have the single carb and it has no jets, but maybe i have it set wrong. would it be running lean or rich? i think it is the timing but i didnt know. i think once i get paid for the motor i just built i will buy the timing plate.do i need to run 110 octane?
-
would i need advanced timing with a stage IV head with 20cc domes and .50 over pistons on 93 octane gas? it like bogs when you start out and wail the throttle down. it just came to mind but it might not be that. i have gone through the all electronics on the bike. i think that is the problem
-
one of the reeds were stuck open and i think that was whats wrong but i dont know i didnt have time to check to see if it ran so i will see if that is the problem
-
.50mm i was thinking about resleeving it at one point. what would resleeveing it cost? i have never looked into it but boring is $90. and if you oned the cylinder too much would that make it get too much air or not have as much compression?
-
the left cylinder wont work right!!! i switch the boots and it runs the exact same but the right side has some trouble running. both cylinders have had something come up from the crank and make it screw up. the left side was the worst. the right was still messed up but it was ok after i honed it. after i honed the left one it side had the gashes but they were small but still there. it is bored .50 over. should i go .60 over or .80 over? the reason i didnt bore it was becuase i ordered the pistons before i thought about the cylinders. the right runs perfect though but the left one is questionable. i am going to take the head off tommorow to see whats up. my question is what size should i got to .60 or. 80

i think i am having the same problem as you. i have boyesen power reeds and they are great but the right side wont hit all the time. it hits at low rpms but not at high rpms. it misses at low rpm too. i dont know what it is. new cdi new coil new plugs. it might be the stator but i dont know. i had the same problem with the stock reeds too. the boyesen seemed to help with mine though but now all i am having is problems even though it has been weeks.

i found 7 cut wires but i dont know if they went to the tors or the lights and this could be causing my no spark conditon. there is 3 green wires, 3 yellow, and 1 black.

Trinity Stage IV Exhaust question

maybe your banshee doesnt like trinity!!! -
Need new carb(s)... 2-into-1 question
stageIVbanshee replied to yzergod's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
yeah get it!! i have one and it is better on the gas, so you dont have to fill your tank as much. i have a 40 mm lectron powerjet w/ a motofast intake. trinity makes the intakes and i think they come with a 38mm but i am not sure. on their website you can get anysize you want!! i had to get the lectron cable with mine because a blaster cable wont work on it. yes it gives you more low end but my top end still screams!!! they are a whole lot easier to tune and you dont have to worry about sincronizing it. -
what mix should i run with 20cc domes and 65.25mm pistons? how much compression should i have? most of the time i do 32:1 and it works pretty good, but i dont know if that is too much oil. i run it on 93 octane is that not high enough octane? i could get 110 but it is $8.00 a gallon at C&C  . the guy i bought my shee from told me to mix it 32:1 and run 93, so i did.
-
why would you have to change everything? the motors should be the exact the same. but if he says so than dont do it. i have no expirience with the rz's
-
i did but i found 7 wires. i think they are from the tors on the old carbs. 3 greens 3 yellow 1 black. i have it set at .018. i am going to get the cdi tommorow and i really think that is what it is. someone on the forum said he had the same problem and it was the cdi. it is an 87 but i dont think it is the stator because it tested perfect and strong.
-
yep i got the new coil and it still isnt running right. just waiting for the cdi to get here
-
mine is the same way even after the new top end!!
-
thanks guys. i ordered the coil and it came with new wires so that will take care of that problem. i ordered the cdi just to be sure too. i think these two were both the problem.i have two coils and it made no difference when i switched them. so i think it is my cdi even tough they hardly ever go bad.
-
what about trinity stage IV? thats what i have with the 20cc domes. why doesnt anyone like trinity!!!
-
well the frame had the powder caoting on the mounts for the coil, but that wasnt the problem. i ordered the coil when i started the thread so it should be here on friday.if that doesnt work ill order my cdi because i dont have any banshee buddies. we all have different atvs. my friends have a raptor and a blaster so i have too order it.
-
if the wires are backwards than you will taost the piston, trust me i know because i did the same thing to see wat it ran like and it just cut off. it might not run or it will run bad and miss and backfire

Which year model banshee is best to drag
stageIVbanshee replied to WDO racing's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
someone told me the old shees are faster than the new ones but i dont know if this is true. my shee is an 87 and it looks newer than most 2003s -
i run 93 with 20cc domes. thought about 110 octane but it is expensive!!
