Built Banshee motor vs Motor Swap.
Shags450 replied to Shags450's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Ok maybe I came off wrong, Im not looking for 5 second 8th miles Ill be happy with 6.5's. (so gotta drop a little over a second from where I am now ) I just miss my yfz450 sometimes press a button and go! The bike motor swap just seems a little out of my reach cause of the tools and such, but it would be a great learning experience. -
Built Banshee motor vs Motor Swap.
Shags450 replied to Shags450's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I begg to differ, it wouldnt be the absolute best of both worlds but it is possible to be decent in both. -
I wanna get peoples opinions on built banshee motors or motor swaps IE: street bike motors I just sold 1 of my dirtbikes so I have right at 3000$ to spend.. and im really torn between what to do. I am building my banshee for the 1/8th mile pavement drags. and really thats about it. MAYBE once in a blue moon take it to the sand pits around here and tear it up! Heres my perdicament I just would hate to drop all this money into a built banshee motor and have such a fast 2 stroke I lose all reliability and I cant just crank it up and take it around my neiborhood or down my road for fun! This is why ive been thinking so much on the street bike motor swap, hell even a stock motor would get the power I wanted and still be 100% reliable cause its still stock. My only problems is I dont have the tools to do the swap (welder and torch) and the local shops want to charge 2500$ to do the swap alone... Im stuck in a rutt! What are your opinions on swaps? and also my situation.

I do belive it may be illegal to ship to cali. I dont know about the gun itself but I know the drum is. (I can look it up tho) If you are serious about it shoot me a pm, I will rip the guts out of the drum and ship it in 2 parts (the legal way ) What you do with it after you get both parts it is your business from my understanding you are just buying it in a collectors standpoint and want to put it on your shelf disassembled.
-
yeh it does that to me sometimes too and I hate it!

No sir hes in NC it is not . I am pretty sure in other states it is but here its not. I know for a fact it is in California.

735hp lol.. I hope you meant to say 375 I race street bikes for brickman racing I currently have a 00 zx12 shes just an old slow dinosaur in the low 5's. Cool build I've been tossing around the idea of built banshee motor or just put a street bike motor on it. Still not sure what I want to do. Mine is a Pavement only drag banshee tho Reason ive really thought heavily on the street bike motor, Alot more reliable (specially on clutches), cause if you think about it your putting in a motor thats used to having 130-180hp at all times, The stock banshee motor thats used to 36hp now has 100+ on it.. stuff starts to break! Cheaper probably in the long run. and just unique. And I really don't care about gas consumption.. if you can afford a banshee and a built motor or streetbike motor why you crying about a few dollars in gas. Nice build tho.

Yeh this is why I purchased a drag axle, I wanted to do it right the first time and not have to upgrade in 6 months or anything. I needed a new carrier origionaly and my axle was sorta bent so I said screw it, bought a 40mm carrier and the axles to match!
-
It just hurt me to spend 700$ on drag axles and carrier and not on performance parts X_X! but I gotta get my needs before wants
-
How long have you guys been working on your drag banshee? I just feel im not making nearly enough money (30K a year) to make any fast progress on my banshee! at this rate... Im looking for next years tax return before I get a chance to even build my motor X_X. Am I the only slow poke!?

No sir semi auto, Full auto is illegal in the states unless you have some special licences.

Hey had a few questions. Can I get 68mm sleeves (421cc correct?) and just get my old sleeves pressed out and new 1's put in without having to goto a 4mm stroke or bigger? of course also get .68 pistons aswell. also if this is possible what are other nessesary upgrades needed? (bigger carbs? Smaller CC domes? dreaded clutch work!?) ALSO!! What kinda hp could I gain from doing this? I just dont want to break into this bottom end just yet. Thanks for any help.

whats the diff between the single row and double row carriers?
-
Yeh I didnt research this enough and just went out spending money... and I was wondering why this swingarm was 200$ cheaper then everybody else. thanks.
-
hey I boguth a swingarm from havoc performance +10 and im stumped.. I got the old swing arm off and the rear carrier has some parts welded on it and im just clueless.. does this mean I need a new rear axle just to use this swinger? Also where can I purchase the bolts to go in the rear of it as seen in the pic to tighten the swinger onto the carrier. roar so frustrated lol.

elevation is 26 feet, currently in carb, 300 mains, and 25 pilots. I also found out if I hold my hand over the carb while cold starting it starts right up. so I dono.
-
I just took my carbs off and cleaned them aswell, I have a 300 main 25 pilot and im having the same problem since I added the vforce 3 reeds and cool head and removed air box for new filters. I only have to cover 1 carb to get mine started.
