Tittle pretty well sums it up. I have a newly built 4mm & cant ride it yet cause I'm short the intakes & short on cash. If someone could help me out I'd appreciate it

Excellent, Thanks for the input jbooker82, I was wondering if anyone was was gonna coment. My needle is a r1369m s I'm using these carbs cause they're the closest I can get to what's on my cr500. I can get it to run really nice. The 500 has a 38 pj on it I believe. Its jetted @ 170 main & 55 idle mid clip. Honda recomends a 50 idle 165 mains but with the pipe & vforce I figure it needs a little more. It runs awesome @ 40 degree's. I need to lean my idle to 50 & drop the needle 1 when it's warmer. Thats why I'm figuring what I am on jetting, but it seems everyone on here runs alot leaner. With port work & pods over & above what the 500 has it seems you'd need even more fuel. Does smaller bore come into play. I realize the carbs are a little smaller too but...? The squish clearance is on the tight side... Yeah it's bare minium. I'm a machinist/auto engine assembler by trade. .037 is the minimum allowable clearance before you kiss the roof, but the quench being as tight as possible helps stir the fuel/air blend making more power along the way.

I'm redoing my shee & wannna second opinion on jetting. Stock jugs with agressive dune port case matched, 4mm crank long rod , v-force 2's, cpi inframes, 36mm keihin's off a 96 cr 125, +4 timing, 160psi static running 91 octane, coolhead with .037 squish, pistons coming outta the jugs .095, 29.33 mm to the top of the exhaust 44.33 to the top of the transfers with a blow down of 32 if I remeber right , uni pods with outerwears. I'm at 5000 ft, call it 80-90 degrees & guessin I need 52 pilots & 172 -175 main with the clip in the middle. I just dont want to melt it as it's all new just built, but I want a close starting point. thanks for the input

I also have some stock intake boots in good shape, and a billit toped thumb throttle if anyone needs them. I need a few more things, a set of 36mm keihin intake boots for my shee also a twist throttle cable, just the cable. Thanks
-
I also have some reed spacers not pictured

I have some chrome spindles , brake parts, hubs, chrome backing plates, tierods. They're off a j-arm I believe, if it makes a difference. The rotors look good. I also have some upper a-arms and a blue tank & radiator cover. What I need is a black tank & radiator cover. I also need an aftermarket rear brake & sprocket skidplate. I dont care if its beat up, just as long as its not cracked & broken. I also need a cherry swingarm pivot shaft, the one the bearings ride on. I have an alright one but would like a sweet used one if anyone has a spare they'd part with. I'll get some pics up in just a sec. All my craps in richfield utah. Thanks

oh WOW, talk about a dream quad. I subscibe to dirt sports mag, just to see the wicked off road rides & technology, but they dont cover quads. To compete & kick azz in that environment that would truely have to be just sick. My favorite is fire roading, something like that, that would'nt beat the shit outta ya. I cant even imagine. Bump for where we should be, on sick fuelinjected 2-strokes. They gave up on 500 open bike's & wicked 2 stroke quads cause they are to much for most, when they shoulda followed this route. -

pORTING HELP IS LIKE THE EVIL QUESTION ON HERE. i SEARCHED FOR LIKE 4 NIGHTS STRAIGHT TRYING TO FIND WHAT i NEEDED TO DO. tHE BEST THING i CAME UP WITH WAS THIS LINK. Stolen from ODAEN, thanks for a great post. http://www.planetsand.com/programs/portmapper.zip tHIS ONE SHOWS HOW PORT HEIGHTS CHANGE THE DURATION & BLOW DOWN. BLOW DOWN SHOULD BE 30 - 35. 30 IS FOR A LIGHT GUY & BIKE ADD MORE FOR HEAVIER RIDER. I put mine at 32. iTS A DOWNLOAD BUT ITS GREAT. & tHIS IS STOLEN FROM MISTERWW425, tHANKS A MUCH MAN FOR THE FIGGURES . PORT TIMING VALUES FOR RPM RANGE. THE FIRST DURATION IN THE XXX-XXX FORMAT IS THE MIN FOR THAT RPM. EXAMPLE: TO GET TO 9000 RPM YOU HAVE TO HAVE AT LEAST 184 EXHAUST AND 123 INTAKE EXHAUST TIMING 7500 RPM 176-178 8000 RPM 180-182 8500 RPM 183-185 9000 RPM 184-186 9500 RPM 186-188 10000 RPM 190-192 10500 RPM 193-196 11000 RPM 196-198 TRANSFER TIMING 7500 RPM 120-123 8000 RPM 121-125 8500 RPM 122-126 9000 RPM 123-127 9500 RPM 124-128 10000 RPM 127-131 10500 RPM 129-133 11000 RPM 130-134 Hope this helps & I wish this was put on just as a general tip for porting. Also being easy find would be great. Like I said it took hours & hours to find this. It doesnt teach how to dirrect flow, flatten the top of the exhaust, knife edging the intake splitter, shaping the transfers, & such but it gives you a place to start your measurements.

Oh shit in the old post's "duh"

Oh man thanks for the confusion. I'm building a 4mm, machinist by trade, needing to know what to set the squish at & I find this. I was thinking that I read in a book I barrowed a couple years back, performance 2 stroke tuning by A. Grahm Bell, that on a 2 stroke with a hemispherical dome you set the squish in a taper .007 on the outside ring edge tapered up to .022 where it drops into the combustion pocket. Thats the way I remember it anyway. I'm looking so I can be sure as i dont have the money to guess off my memory. I dont think blowit is that far out there. I'm sure flex varies from a stock crank to somthing like a sweet ass twister crank, forged vs cast, bore size has got to come into play too. A smaller bore having less piston rock. I'm just gonna buy the damn book. If you dont, play it safe .037 is the minimum building a n/a 4 stroke
