I wanna play!! Can a fat boy join in on the fun? I am going to shoot for the night of the 11th!! Kinda depends on Melly's reaction!! Z
-
I would run a wet system, first off!! I went thru this last year at this time and ended up going with motor work after I bought and installed all the NOS stuff!! When you do NOW, you will change your plugs and your timing a little bit as well!! That is just my .02, not a pro by any means, but since I just went thru it, thought I would share what I found out!! Good luck!

www.jegs.com They have all sizes, between $6 and $25 each.

This is a really busy time of year for most builders, best of luck!! Try Jim @ Passion.

There is a group of us headed out in June, but not on MEMORIAL weekend!! I think we are headed out the 11, 12, 13, 14. Wish I could head out then, but I have lake obligations!! LOL

Jim's motors love fuel, and if he set it up with 35's, run em. Ad I love my 8's, I will never go back to 10's. Just my .02

bike will not pull into the powerband
zachass9 replied to zachass9's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Its an 87 and never ran right before the total facelift and rebuild, so it is kinda of expected but still frustrating!! Thanks for the help!! i think someone has changed the harness or something because there are some taped dead end wires where the wires from the stator meet the harness!! I Chased wires and everything looks to be in good shape but might have to do a total wiring run down!! Thanks for the help!! The pick up tightens down but seems to angle away from the flywheel the screws tighten up!! Can you buy just a pick up? If so, do you know anyone that has one they wanna sell? Z -
bike will not pull into the powerband

Thank you!! I have gapped the pick up as you have said 4 times, but it seems to move when I tighten the screws holding it down!! It looks to be at an angle, which may be my problem!! The slides are definately in the correct carb and the choke tube is in place and installed properly! Still clueless here!! thanks for all the help, I dont feel so dumb, because I was thinking along the same lines and already checked everything talked about!! I didnt wanna look like a dumbass by posting this, but.........looks to be the case anyway!! Thanks again -
bike will not pull into the powerband

Leak down rest was good and the bike is not lean!! It is still showing to be fat on plug chops!! -
Split the cases and do it right the first time!! Replace everything, it is way cheaper than having to split the cases and do it all again in a few rides if not minutes. You can probably clean up and reuse the clutch actuator, but the ball is like a buck and the rod is cheap!! Pancake bearings are a must on all of my bikes!! I took the short cut once and missed a big weekend over a few bucks and a little work!! Never again!! Good luck!! Z

bike will not pull into the powerband

Synced!! LOL is that correct!! Hell they have been sank in carb cleaner and after the third or fourth time of that and ruling out carb/reed problems at the dunes, they may have ended up sank in beer!! Hell I know I have a few times while trying to figure out this problem!! None of the port durations were messed with at all!! These cylinders came off another perfectly running bike!! I just had them bored and honed and new pistons. The pickup seems to have had some issues in the past from the looks of it!! I may start there!! This thing has be baffled, everything is fine until it tries to get into the powerband and it just loses all power and its will to eccelerate!! If you keep it right on the edge of the band, it will run but will backfire every now and then, still never pulling into the band!! I probably sound like a total fricking idiot!! I am by no means a pro, but this isnt my first rodeo either!! Never seen anything like it!! Any and all advice is welcomed!! I am thinking about trying the CDI off of my bike and maybe buying a new pick up coil as well. Keep the advice coming!! PLEASE -
Jim (passion racing engines) just finished up my 421 cheetah duner!! It makes unreal power and I love the motor. He does quality work and will do anything to keep you happy after the sale as well!! His work is top quality, affordable, and he will help you with any questions or issues. I wouldnt hesitate to send him another motor. Just my .02 Z

I just put together a very mild 350 motor. It has stock carbs, stock reeds, t6's, pods, +4 timing, noss head and a very mild port job (clean up). I have sank the carbs and everything is perfect until you got to get in the powerband!! This damn thing will not do it!! This thing runs absolutely flawless everwhere, until it tries to pull into the powerband, at which time it just stops pulling!! I jetted down and still no fix, and I cant jet down anymore and be safe. I really need some help here!! Where do I need to start? Pick up coil, computer, ground? I am lost and have now answers, please help!!!! Z
-
K, after all the complaining, I parted out the cheetah and I am building a 350, just for the beer races!! Priorities, priorities, priorities!! LOL JK I am ready for some more riding thofor sure!! I havent even seen my bike since I got back from snakehunt!! LOL Hope it is still there and will run!!
-
Count me in on the beer races, please!!! LOL I might try it in the goof cart!! Texas and Kansas Bud Light are my favs!!!
-
Damn it, timmy!! That is smack in the middle of lake season!! i will be there, friday and saturday and sunday at least!! I finally got moving on the golf cart, tires are ordered and we are working on the front and back suspension!! The painter is looking at my banshee and coming up with some ideas for the paint on the cart!! I may have a back up for the shee!!
-
Much appreciated!!
