  1. I recently got a banshee that is more or less stock. Only the baffles were taken out of the stock silencers. I did a compression test and got 120psi on each cylinder. Since that checked out, I have started to look for parts. I purchased a 28mm PWK kit. Now I am looking to get a set of pipes, v force 3's, and an air cleaner setup. This bike will have to do everything from woods, and stream crossings (some mud, but I wont be looking for mudholes to play in). I am looking to maintain some type of lowend, but still need to be able to race my buddies from time to time. I guess I am looking for a do it all kind of bike. I am considering some FMF's, Pro Circuit's and Toomey pipes. Who also rides this type of terrain and what setup would you suggest?
  2. Compression test complete. I am running about 120 psi per side and they seem even. The engine sounds tight, and hopefully this confirms this. Now I know for sure that I can start outside the motor for now. This makes me feel a lot better since I dont have to R+R the topend in the cold.
  3. I had an MSD on a 400EX I used to have, so I assume that its very similar. Will this allow me to bypass putting the advance ignition plate in the banshee? Is it a true Multi spark discharge, or are they just using the name?
  4. To name a few of the bikes, a Banshee Limited Edition, a scrambler 500HO, a kawasaki prairie 700. Obviously the 4x4's have the edge because they can get traction to the ground. I am looking into a set of 28PWK's right now. If I add a toomey t-6 pipe kit with jetting and air filter, would this work well? If not, what jetting should I look into for this carb setup. I am going to keep the duals all the way around. I dont mind putting some money into it, but I can go full out yet. Im sure it will eventually come to this, but I just want a strong runner that is going to be reliable. I am going out to test the compression right now. I will report back. THANKS FOR THE HELP!!!!!
  5. as soon as it warms up a few degrees, Im going out to do a compression test. Then I can see where I have to start with this project. The guy that owned this bike was obviously a ride it till it dies kinda guy. Boy do I hate ignorance when it comes to simple basic maintenance.
  6. However, I cant be loosing races to my buddies. I need to make sure that this bike wins. I know I want it all, but I only want to set this thing up once, then maintain it. Did you have a 2 into 1 pipe, carb or both?
  7. In order to maintain some low end for trail riding, I dont want to go with too large of a carb, right? I need to keep some kind of airbox, because this bike will see mud and water. BTW, what are the benefits of the 2 into 1 designs for both carb and pipes? As for the ignition, I wasn't going to bother with the adjustable plate. I was going to go with the Dyna FS ignition or the MSD. But I read that you need to charge a battery to run the MSD???
  8. Hey everyone, first post here. I just recently swapped my 250R for a banshee. I was told blah, blah, blah. The lowdown: Bike starts in a kick or three. Revs great, idles well, bogs off idle. It appears to be all stock with the acception of the baffles removed out of the stock silencers. The airbox was missing some clips and the filter was dirty as hell. I saw some dirt that got passed the filter and is partially in the intake track. One carb is very dirty, the other cleaner, but still dirty. Slides at different heights. I just picked up a compression tester to see if it needs a top end (was told it was new). What should my compression be for a stock bike? I plan on putting some money into it, but I do have kids and a wife... I am looking to set up a good all around bike to race buddies, ride fire roads and trails with stream crossings. I live in Maryland at around 300-700 ft in altitude in my usual riding places. Im not looking to build a show bike, but I want it ro run its a$$ off and make people say wow when they get off of it. I want pipe, carb and jetting suggestions please. I HUMBLY AWAIT YOUR SUGGESTIONS!!
