I had good luck with the Holeshot MXR6's. Ran an entire season with little wear. Never trail rode with mine, though. I will say that they hook the banshee up great. Most of the tracks I race on are tore all to hell from motorcycles.
-
I'll check into that in about 3 or 4 years when they're finally worn out. Maybe save the $400 to pay the difference for the big name a-arms. Stick with your heims, cheif. They're probably fine for a big sand box. I'll keep on MXing with the automotive style. Unto each his own...

Where are you getting this "automotive ball joint" crap at? Call Tim at Wicked and ask. They use the same ball joints you get with Laeger. They're not the Autozone ball joints your talking about where you have to ream the spindle.
-
My Wicked a-arms are the shit!!! The spindle mounting wasn't any problem on mine. I did, however, build the shock mount myself on mine to accept LTR450 length shocks. I didn't experience any pinching of the boots on the ball joints, but I'm gonna keep that YFZ ball joint trick in mind in case I think I can squeak a little more articulation out of the ball joint travel. IMO heim ball joints are J-U-N-K!!! I'd say the spindle problems some are having are from trying to run a shock that is a little longer than stock which puts you outside of the articulation limit unless you change the mounting point of the shock. They are fully adjustable for castor, camber and toe, so it takes some know how to get them mounted correctly.

Works with rezzies are pretty economical if you want aftermarket. Go for it. If you go with Full Flights or ASR a-arms you'll probably replace alot of those heim ball joints that come on those. Check out Wicked Products a-arms. They ROCK! I destroyed a set of ASR lowers mxing a 300ex with ohlins shocks. Just my experience...
-
Ok PRICKS, The guys willing to trade his banshee for a 400ex. How serious do you think he wants to get?
-
Better than stock, but there are alot of better options than Full Flights and stock length Works shocks on a MX shee. If you are satisfied with a-arms made for stock length shocks, then chances are a set of YFZ450 stock shocks and a-arms would make better sense. Then you could spend the money left over on rebuilding the under-sprung stock rear shock. Just my 2 cents... There's a guy on here somewhere selling some pretty cool spacers to make the YFZ a-arm swap real easy.

You got the white 700? I think I remember you. Get that 4 mil and bring it to Pt. Pleasant this spring so I can see how it is? I may go 4 mil some day myself, but for next season I'm not rebuilding. If you have a stock head, have it cut for the 4 mil. Makes a good sleeper. It doesn't take much of a cut to work. You can get different thickness base gaskets to raise the port timing if you don't want to port it. Just make sure the head is cut to match. Most guys feel the stroker plate is too high for stock porting. I'm sure someone on here knows more about that than me. Check around and bring that shee MXing.

I agree with shee rips, daisy, unless of course you found a junk crank when you tore into that 0 psi left side compression problem you were having a while back. The best mods for the shee if your going to ride in WV would be A-arms and suspension. Come down to the Milton MX this spring and I'll show you what an old man on a stock stroke shee can do to a bunch of $7000 4 strokes.

Wicked A-Arms w/ Elka Standard Dune Edition Shocks
RoushRacing13 replied to bonzai272's topic in Product Reviews
Another shot of the Wicked Products Roush Kustom Edition. Going to Fox Evol's this year. The stock LTR's are great, but my riding style and 200 lb rear are too much for the stock valving and spring. -
Wicked A-Arms w/ Elka Standard Dune Edition Shocks

I gotta give my thumbs up for Wicked Products a-arms. They sent me mine in bare metal without shock mounts and sent me some CRMO steel to finish them myself. Thats a pretty cool thing that, as a business, they trusted me to customize their product. Not to mention, they never treated me like I was stupid when I told them i was going to put LTR 450 front shocks on my MX banshee. I hammered on them all season and even the ball joints are still amazingly tight. Top notch in my book!!! -
I've got a stock carrier ( $40 shipped PM me ). That tube thingy is to keep you from pushing the center race out when you tighten the axle nut. Yes, you need it.
-
Woods guys used to run these alot. They were good for blowing all the atomized fuel out of the expansion chamber when one cylinder exhausted instead of letting it be sucked back in the cylinder on compression stroke. This results in less of a power surge and maybe a little bit of leanout. Can you tell I'm not a big fan of 2 into 1 anything for the shee??? To be fair, a good friend of mine used one on his banshee to win the 1996 GNCC Open A class championship. I'll look for a picture.

smokes more on right side than left

Are you running larger than stock carbs? My MX shee has 34mm Mikuni's and it runs richer on the left side which is typical of using the stock fuel valve and T. I'm going to a dual pingel valve for next year. I thought it was my floats at first. Hold the carbs upside down and see if both floats sit at the same angle; they should angle up slightly. As for 1 side running hotter, sounds like maybe that side is leaning out. Check the main jet for a big terd! -
I ran Walmart outboard oil 40:1 (around $8 a gal.) in my MXer for the entire 2007 season, and I have no need to rebuild for next year. Ran the same NGK plugs all season, too.

Finally Dropped the 2 into 1 set up
RoushRacing13 replied to theeechozen1's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
Sounds great. I prefer my dual 34 Mikuni's, even for MX. Look at the builds on all of the PDV Duncan banshees. IMO the 2:1 is awesome but it has certain applications like GNCC or any time fuel mileage is a factor. In 1996 I was racing GNCC on a CT310R and a friend of mine dominated the Open A class that year on a banshee. He would use a 2:1 setup for the really long courses, but he always liked the hit he got from dual carbs. -
ASR a-arms??? Gotta love those hiem ball joints you get with those. I'm just bragging on Wicked a little. By the way, I payed $375 for mine in bare metal. They use the same ball joints as Laeger and Houser.
-
Here's a little experiment for would be a-arm purchasers. Call up or e-mail your favorite a-arm manufacturer and ask them to pull you a set from the assembly line without any shock mounts like I did. Tim at Wicked was the only taker for the task. Most other companies would have to go to China to accommodate you since that's where most a-arms are actually made.

Hi all,(New to site) I have these on my 02 MX'er and have a full season on them. They are as good as anything out there in my opinion. The best part was that Wicked sent mine to me without the shock mounts so I could fab my own to accept LT450R shocks, and they never treated me like I didn't know what I was doing. They even sent me crmo tube already fishmouthed and the mounting tabs to make the job easier. The ball joints and mounting hardware are top notch as well. I'll try to get a picture on here soon. I'm having trouble figuring that part out.
