looking for jetting recomendations
Wildcardracing replied to chetgoff's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
Chet, I'd start with a 165 main, same pilot and needle...work from there. Wouldn't be surprised to see you drop you pilot jet down a bit. -B -
Here are the options I have found: The H2 pistons as listed above by Cam will work, they share the same pin height with the 10018 series pistons and are a 16mm wrist pin. However they will require different domes as they have a .150" dome rise compared to the .120" dome rise of the 10018's. The part number on them is 423M07x00 and I can sell them for $134.95 each. They don't have any windows cut in them. The 10018M07x00 pistons which the cylinder calls out for (super cub and cheetah) are available through my shop as well, I can sell these pistons for $170.95 each. The third option being the most extreme would be to deck the cylinders (or cases) .060" and run a .012" base gasket with the Wossner W240Px pistons, this option athough being more involved initially would make parts availability better for future rebuilds The major difficulty being finding 72+mm pistons with a 16mm wrist pin For those of you with longer rods set up to run 18mm wrist pins there are many options for pistons -Brandon

need help jetting 421 stroker
Wildcardracing replied to bansheeboie's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
You're really going to want to consider a larger cc dome if you plan on the engine surviving on pump gas....somewhere around 24cc depending on porting and cylinder type -
Unfortunately the BB Blaster pistons won't work. They have a pin height .080" lower than the pistons required for the Cheetah. The base of the cylinder could be decked to run the less expensive pistons, but that is somewhat expensive. I am going to search my product lines for a suitable alternative or a more economic source for these pistons. Mike, I'll be giving you a call on these. I will aslo post in here what I can get for others interested. -B

I can get you those Wossner pistons for @ $140 each. I have one here for a BB Blaster and a 485 cheetah on the shelf, I'll take a look to make sure they'll work for you. Trinity may not have the rights to the Cheetah anymore, but I'm sure they still have the rights to the pistons...even though they have a Wiseco p/n they are a product designed for Trinity. -Brandon

Have both in stock and ready to ship:D

What is your elevation? Are your cylinders ported?

how to measure bore and stroke?
Wildcardracing replied to chetgoff's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I would like to clarify that having 513 series or 795 series pistons tells you nothing about the stroke, but rather the rod length. 513 series are for a std (short) 110mm rod and the 795's are for use with the 115mm (long) rods. People may even use blaster 573 series pistons with 66+mm bores and long rods. -Brandon -
With stock ports at that elevation, 20cc may be pushing it a bit too far. I would recommend 21cc to be on the safe side. +4 is a good starting point, not necissarily the "sweet spot". -Brandon

I would recommend hitting up John Austin (NYUK) or JoshZ on here. They usually have a number of partout quads. I'm sure one of them could put you a package together with: cases, transmission and hardware. Buying these items new is still a possibility, but very expensive. The cases are all interchangeable throughout the years. There are a few minor cosmetic differences in the older ones and the older ones have a plug in the speedometer bung whereas the newer ones are cast solid. -Brandon

Need some help from the experts
Wildcardracing replied to Buckwheat's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
A lot will depend on you budget for the build. If keeping decent fuel economy is a primary concern then a stock cylinder build is going to probably be the best option. A stroker crank will give you much broader useable torque curve if your budget will allow it. My recommendation is to call several builders and use the one you feel most comfortable with. -
Also, what's your elevation? I'm not sure if Keihin bowls will fit OKO carbs, never dealt with them myself. To my knowledge they are pretty much a carbon copy of a Keihin so converting them should be much the same.
-
If done properly it won't hurt anything. With alcohol you will make more power, but you will get about half of the mileage and will need to purge. What is your setup and what carbs do you have? -Brandon

I'm sorry you feel that way Gerrid. I really wish there would have been more I could have done to help you out, but you were dead sold on CP customs doing the work and left my back up against the wall there. I would like to clarify that wcr is Whitaker custom racing, they do the overrides. As for the case splitting, I'm sure no one else has ever had a clutch rod/ball weld on a fresh engine when the recommended pancake bearing wasn't intsalled. Sorry about the hijacked thread everyone. -Brandon

Jared, I've got a set of bored 35.5 Mikunis I'd trade for it, they have the machined filter bells on them...no pj's currently in them let me know if you're interested

The best bang for your buck would be a Serval cylinder. They are a monoblock available in stock, +4, +7 and +10 strokes and in 65 and 68 bores. They are made by CP industries and any of the site sponsors who do engines on here can get one for you including myself. The stock stroke aftermarket cylinders aren't economically corrected to stroker setups because they all have too much transfer timing to drop in a longer stroke crank. The powervalved cylinders such as the cheetah and big block twisters do make great torque, but are very pricey. The cheetah requires a little less work to install than the Twister but I think you'll find both topends much out of the pricerange you mentioned. You can do a 421 (4mil) serval complete build for the price of just the trinity or twister top end. Give me a shout if you want to talk a little more on it. -Brandon

Buy with confidence here guys, great seller! -Brandon -
I'm not sure I understand your question?? Are you asking about the throttle override system or something to do with your transmission?

Recommend new carbs! 4 mil ported?
Wildcardracing replied to 12 0 Clock P I M P's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
below 2500' elevation the Q2 needle jets work just fine with the 5fp17 needles....higher elevations often require changing the needle jet (dump tube) to a 389Q0 -
That looks pretty trick Shayne, might be talking to you soon about some of these. -B

Recommend new carbs! 4 mil ported?
Wildcardracing replied to 12 0 Clock P I M P's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
Those cylinders were ported for Shearer SB pipes. Not sure where or if they'd tune at all with your gnarly's. With the Shearers you should end up with @ 280 mains, 45 pilots, 5FP17 needles in the leanest clip position. Those gnarly's are more suited to stock or very mildly ported cylinders. They pull on a cylinder with that much blowdown timing and much too long for a cylinder with that much exhaust duration. -B -
We have the small bore inframes in stock in both chrome and bare finish. And why not buy from a vendor? Especially one who supports this site?
-
Hope they come up with a solution to your problem soon. Get feeling better! -B

Leaned a little, now weird top end
Wildcardracing replied to Banshee Chad's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
CPI's usually want it one clip lean from center at our elevation..then richen the pilot circuit and main in the colder weather
