I hate polishing, If I would do it again I would get all my aluminum chromed.

Like others said, take it apart and clean it, get new gaskets and put it back together. You should not need to glob rtv all over it to get a good seal.

If your pilot is to rich you will be kicking all day, how wet are your plugs? Are your carbs sync'd?

I have had few coils go bad, Have you ohmn'd yours out? Did the stock clips that hold the wires in break off on your coil? If they did take the wire and push it back in, then what I did on the stock coil is electrical taped the wire to the coil to prevent it from pulling back out.
