Right off idle... you pin it, and it dies. I'd say 1/8-1/4 throttle it's dead. And even after. I just never heard of a motor this big needing that small of a jet. Especially since I ran 33mm's with bigger jets. Funny thing is, you can actually see the fuel spraying when you open the slides fast off of idle. I am concerned due to it being jetted great before, and it's not even in the ball park now. Something is wrong.

Update... checked float heights. They were off. Set them to 16mm. Got them all straight and put bike back together. Nothing. No change. Went down on pilot, nothing. With the smaller pilot in it, I turned air screw all the way in. It took the bog away So this tells me I have a rich condition on the pilot. I was running 48 pilots in my 33mm PWK's on this motor. Now I go to 35mm PWK's and 45 pilots are still too rich. It doesn't make sense. I put 45 pilots in this, still rich as heck. Oil coming out exhaust pipes on rear.... Rich, rich, rich. My question is... is it normal to run anything lower than a 45 pilot on this setup? Or do I need a leaner needle or what? Reason I am asking is, I never heard of it, plus my old carbs liked 48's. This doesn't make sense. I am obviously rich on the pilot. Or need a leaner needle. The air screw tells the story. Air screw all the way in took the bog away. 42 pilots in a 4mm cub??????? Are you serious? I am running a CEL needle. Tried dropping the needle/raising clip. Nothing. Still have to go down on the pilot size. What the heck? There has to be someone here that can read the above, understand it, and make sense of it. I sure don't understand it. I was told by everybody and their brother jetting would be similar. But it's as rich as can be. Still need smaller on the pilot or leaner needle.

Tyler, yes, 421 cub. However, it ran great before with the 33mm. Responsive, no dead spots. From start to finish, right on. My bike was a runner before. This isn't just a small difference. We are talking a bog that almost stalls the bike. This is serious. The bike starts right up and idles fine. Synced carbs, etc. I'm no rookie with this stuff Tyler, as you know. This is a problem. Not the way 35mm PWK's should run on a 421 cub.

Just got a new set of 35mm PWK's off of Jeff at Fast. I was running 33mm PWK's before. My settings from before were 158 main, 48 pilot, air screw 2 turns out, CEL on 3rd/middle clip. With this setup I was right on with jetting. Ran as good as you could ask for. I installed the new carbs with the same jetting, and it has a serious bog when you pin the throttle. Bad bog. I tried moving the clip on the needle, tried different needles, tried different size pilots up and down, etc. Nothing I did changed this issue. Could this be a float problem? As the bike is idling on flat ground, there is a little fuel entering the vent hoses. I didn't check the float height on these carbs, assumed since they were new they were set right. Could float height problems cause this bad bog? It is acting like it is flooded and very rich as you pin the throttle off idle. This is the only thing it could be, as I checked everything else. I just wanted to ask here as maybe someone had this problem before.

Check your PM's... I sent you another that you didn't read yet. -
Bumped up from 33mm PWK's to 35mm PWK's. Same setup, nothing changed. Just the carb size. Will jetting be similar or the same as it was? I heard many people say that jetting doesn't change. This is my first time actually trying it though. I bumped up one main size just to be safe. But I am told that they jet the same and jetting will not be different. Any input?

Trinity Stage 4 Exhaust + Silencers
TeamRealtreeHD replied to TeamRealtreeHD's topic in For Sale - Parts & Accessories
I loved them. If they don't sell, I decided they will stay for the other build. I really like them but the 421 needs the Rockets or CPI's for what I do with it. -
Greasing Ball joints/Tie Rod Ends
TeamRealtreeHD replied to TeamRealtreeHD's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Thanks for the info! I got the needle greaser attachment for my gun, and that made it a breeze to do! I greased all of them full of grease, and it was rather easy. Even re-did my A Arm ball joints again by just separating the spindle and joints, leaving the A Arms on the bike. Thanks! -
Looking for a set of stock carbs, with TORS removed. Let me know what you have. Building up another bike here. Thanks

I have a set of Trinity Stage 4 pipes and silencers I am going to try and sell. Reason for selling is I am upgrading my 421 cub to Rockets. It took me quite some time to come up with this decision, I love the Trinitys and told myself I'd never let them go. They are stainless, look great and sound awesome, and perform. I don't have a price right now. Just seeing if there is interest. If there is, I can get more pics and I can get a price up here. Just feeling if anyone would be interested in these instead of buying them for the price they sell new which is outrageous IMO. Anyone that knows me knows I take care of my bikes better than anyone around. Nothing looks used. I polish everything, perform religious maintenance, etc. And these pipes are no different. They were just re-packed a week ago. Didn't even need it but I did it anyways. I always did it after every 20 gallon of gas. They look new. They sound and run great. Here are some pics of them on the bike... I can get more tomorrow if anyone would like. I was thinking of keeping these for my other build but I think I'm letting them go. So if anyone is interested, please let me know. I'm just getting a feel for this if I can sell them or not. Thanks guys. Hopefully this switch of pipes for me can be a pleasant one. I really like these and hope I don't kick myself Here are the pics I have for now. I can get more if anyone would like. I also included a video clip if anyone wanted to hear them...

The silencers are re-packable of course, right? How do they come apart? I wonder how this will affect jetting... I'll have to play with it and dial it in. I can start a little higher than what my settings are for my Trinity's now and then work her into the groove.

Good to hear Tyler. Yhanks for your input. Very much appreciated on my end. I guess I'll have to say good bye to my bunny ears on the front.
-
Great info. The fact that they come on sooner or just as soon as CPI might point me towards them. That is what I like to hear. Is Tom the only place to get them? Directly through him? How do they mount up? Any trouble with them hitting the frame under the seat or leaking anywhere?
-
That's why I am really hesitating to get CPI's. I ride with 4 other guys with cheetah cylinders. 3 of them have CPI. One has Shearer. The thing is, CPI offers that midrange. That's what is dragging me to them. Yet they still offer the top end. Tyler, you ran all them. You are the man I need to get the info from. Is the midrange difference noticeable on the Rockets compared to the CPI? I really like the midrange for starting on the hills at the bottoms. An all out drag pipe, all top end, won't do it for me. If the Rocket's are like Shearer, I will steer towards CPI. Basically, which one comes on sooner? Rockets or CPI? I'd like on to come on soon yet still rev out. I know CPI does that.
-
I'm switching the motor over from Trinity pipes. I love the trinity's but I know I can get more power out of this thing by switching to one of the pipes here. I'm very familar with CPI's. They offer what I want. I like them. However, everyone runs them around here. If the R2's run similar to the CPI's, I'd love to get a set. But the good thing is I know CPI's are prooven as well. No doubt about it. They offer the midrange us climbers like yet rev and offer top that we need. I am just really interested in these R2's for some reason. Just can't find any info on them.
-
I am going to get a set of CPI's or Rocket R2's for one of my setups. A 421 cub. I know the CPI will work great, but I am really interested in the R2's. I wish there was more info on them, such as dyno charts, input from people who ran them on bigger motors, etc. I will be using them for duning, hillclimbing, dragging, etc. I like the CPI due to the midrange it offers, and the hard hit up top and it's ability to rev. I know they offer what I want. But everybody around me has them. I just have no info on R2's. I don't think anyone does. Do they perform similar to regular Rockets? What are they designed for? I can't find anything on them other than people that had them on stock jugged bikes. Do they have midrange similar to a CPI, or are they more like a Shearer pipe? Would it be smart to wait until there is more info on these pipes?

Wondering if there was somebody out there with a trick up their sleeve on greasing tie rod end ball joints and stock A Arm ball joints. My A Arm ball joints don't need it as I just replaced all the boots and packed them full of high quality grease. However, my tie rod end ball joints were never done since I owned the bike. I am right in the middle of a serious service/maintenance of my bike, and wanted to get these done as well. I heard there isn't a way. Just replace them, or replace the rubber boots. But I figured I'd ask here first. They are not shot, they work fine. I just figured I'd ask here because I'd like to paxk the boots with fresh grease.

I have one, and know many guys that do, that ride the toughest terrain around, and never heard of one problem.
