  1. Maybe im worng but should the plates i took out not have signes of burning and be black in that case?? None of the plates i took out are look burned or anything. They are in good condition. Its got me stumped!!
  2. Hey people, im in the middle of a complete rebuild of my shee and have just taken the clutch plates off there tonight. Anyhow from what i understand there should be fiber plate then steel plate then fiber plate and so on is this correct?? I have just taken my plates off and there are only steel plates...no fiber ones Is this normal? Do people remove them for some reason? Thanks you guys
  3. Did you check compression? Have you got spark? Are carbs installed correctly? Choke tube? Correct carb caps on ccorrect carbs?...Half moon section should be at rear of bike. Just some things to check. I have to kick mine 5 times with key turned off and switch at off then turn both on and she starts right up. :biggrin:
  4. I started of with 260's but me bike was bogging and i did a plug chop. They are nice and taned. Cheers for the idea tho. Kinda concerned as to why it happened. What else are the main causes of piston damage? Gotta find the problem or it will do it again. Thanks
  5. Yeah from reading other posts i think there is some crap down in my tranny and will need cleaned out. Also thinking about a port job while i have the engine stripped down. Not really sure what you's mean about the plates to hold the clutch but hopefully all will come clear when i get stuck in. Cheers for the tips guys.   7. Any one got any advice? Ive been looking through clymers and the bottom end looks real complicated. Is this the case? Any ideas what could have caused it? Please help! Somebody!!! Anybody!!!!
  8. Cheers mate. So am i wise trying a rebuild myself or is it too technical? I have read that the top end is not too bad so its the bottom that really causes me some concern. I basically ride around fields with my mates. Nothing too serious but if i can increase my power while it is stripped then id probably do it! Any info is invaluable. Thanks
  9. Oh my only mods are dmc alien pipes, k & N filter with air box modified and 240mains. I have been searching the forums and the same thing keeps coming up....."find the cause then fix the problem" so any help will be great if you's can point me in the direction of my problem. Thanks again
  10. Hey all, I was out riding some trails on Sat when my motor locked up. I was changing from 2nd to 3rd with not much revs and the back wheels just lockewd and she died. The kick starter wont move and i thought i heard a noise from the tranny before it happened. Kinda like grinding or something rattling. I have taken the pipes off and the left one had loads of bits of piston in it. I guess what i am askin is what all do I have to do to get her fixed back up and going? I have a clymers and am hoping I can have a go at fixing this myself. Is it difficult? I dont want to give the loacl guys any more work as the really fucked myover the last time. Im a bit scared about splitting cases and messing with gears. Finally is there any mods i should be doing to give me more power while i have her stripped down? Thanks and sorry for the long post!   12. Rite people, I finally decided to go with the dmc alien pipes and put a k & N on. I put the pipes and filter on today and when i tried to start the bike there was nothin Is this normal as i havnt jetted yet?? Im living in the uk and my guy i got the pipes off told me to go up 40 from the stock jet and take it from there.I was going to take it for a ride with the stpck jets in just to look at the plugs and hear what the pipes go like. So what is my next move?? How can i fix this?? My bike is completely stock and i have the snorkle off the airbox lid. Help me please!!!!

  14. Hey guys,Im just about to buy a set of pipes and start doing some small bits to my shee. Here is my problem, I live in the uk and NOBODY stocks toomey pipes. :shoothead: I wanted to get the Toomey t6 but it seems it is impossible without getting them from the states. I have tried several suppliers and all i can get is dmc alien and fmf pipes. Any way i was wondering if anybody might know if I would have to pay taxs or import fees as i am watching a few sets on ebay. Do I have to pay taxes if the pipes are classed as a 'present'? I have tried to find this out myself but am having no luck. I know this is a long shot but any help would be super. After all you guys are a fountain of knowledge!!! :biggrin: Cheers
  15. Top stuff guys. Thanks for the replys. I think i mite go for the t6's as i really have no intention of porting the bike. Im only small time compared to you guys. Also i have read the chrome on the toomeys is of a better starndard than the fattys?? not sure if that is true tho. The race is on a unused road so should be good. plenty of traction! So basically the t6's and the dmc aliens are pretty much similar? is that Correct? If you's can think of any more info to give me that completitive edge its greatly appreciated. Cheers men
  16. Hey you guys. Ive done many searches here when trying to decide which pipes to buy. There is such a wide choice out there so my head is getting fried. My mate has dmc alien pipes on a standard bike with a K&N. I want pipes to put on my completely stock bike so i can kick his ass (if thats possible with just pipes!). :shrug: Since the bike is stock i was thinking toomey t6 but is there much difference in t5 and t6. I know t5's are better suited to a ported motor so should i go with t6's? Also wil they be good enough to keep with his dmc's?? Or what pipes do you's suggest? We just do riding round fields and wide open spaces. So prob looking for power at bottom mid and top. Thanks for helping with the dilema you guys! Id be lost without your help!
  17. sorry mate cant get the picture to upload. Its a long black rubber tube just like the one that comes out of the top of the petrol tank top. I dont think it belons in there at all. Also any ideas how to best dry the inside of the tank now ive washed it? Think il just leave the pipe out. what you think?
  18. Guys im a bit stuck and thought id turn to yous for help. I was cleanin/washing out my fuel tank and a rubber pipe/hose came out of it. Ive no idea what it was attached to or where it does back. Please help! What does it do? Do i Need it? Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. Right guys. heres where i am. took the tank and gave it a real good blast with a power washer. but a pipe/hose came out from inside it. shit! Now i cant figure out where it goes. is there normally one in there? Please help!

(so normally what i have to do is kick her 5-10 times with the choke out ful and the key and ignition switch off, then turn key and ignition on and she fires right up). Any of you's hear of this before?? Anyway i took your advice and cleaned my carbs. the right one was filthy and was wondering how i could clean out my petrol tank. I drained it and there seems to be like grit or something in it. Is it necessary to clean petrol tanks? Anything else i should do before i put it back together? Also do you think this will fix my problem? Cheers folks
