Here's the pics guys. http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k402/ge.../Banshee009.jpg BOTH PISTONS http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k402/ge.../Banshee007.jpg PISTON & ROD http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k402/ge.../Banshee002.jpg CASE DAMAGE http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k402/ge.../Banshee005.jpg CYLINDER WALL Also just to let you's know I was running on reserve when the bike blew up and the piston and cylinder wall still had oil on them when I took the piston out of it. THanks for all the replies guys. GREAT SITE
  2. I'll get the pics up real soon. Looking forward to hearing some feedback. I am basically putting in a complete bew engine apart form clutch. Keep the points of views and ideas coming though. The help is great!!
  3. What was your elevation? We have an average temp of 46 fahrenheit here. Anyone more ideas?
  4. If i was running lean on my mains would I not have done damage to the pistons? Like a hole in them or something? I will do a plug chop when I get her up and running. I read a post on here somewhere and some guy was saying the keepers on the side of the carbs are important, so I was just wondering how important they are. When I get home from work il get pics of the pistons and crank uploaded.
  5. Im in ireland. 262.5ft above sea level. I was at 220 and went to 240. Do you think it is still lean with this info? I asked the local guy for 260 and he said it would just flood her. I thought my jetting was about right.
  6. Thanks man. I didnt realise them screws/clamps were so important. I thought they just ensured the carb cap stayed on Il post some pics of the pistons and the damage casued. Anyone else wants to chime in please do.
  7. Ok guys so Ive blown up my engine and am trying to figure out why. Here's my set up: 2001 shee, dmc alien pipes, k&N filter in box snorkle removed, 240mains, stock pilot, air screw 1 1/2 turns out, 40:1 mix mild ported cylinders i bought of firehead on here I started stripping down the bike and noticed the keeper screw and clamp that tightens agianst the left hand carb cap (stock carbs) is missing. would that have an effect on it? O some info: wen i say blown up the pistons are intact but the left crack rod came out through the case. Did alot of damage. Have got new crank, new cylinders, new pistons, and while im at it im sticking in a new trans. Bike ran great before blew up although sometimes it would bog under low revs. Any icdes. Thanks Gerard
  8. Hi guys, My carb tube which comes off the t section and feeds in to the left hand carb (when sitting on the bike) has a crack in it and I cant seem to get one anywhere. Tried local shops and no luck. Has any one got a spare they could send me and I'l paypal them some money? Its a small black bit of pipe that goes from the carb to the t section from the petrol tank. Can anyone help?? Thanks Gerard
  9. Im at sea level but Im also in Ireland so my mains suit it over here. The bike had been running for ages before it blew up. I asked my local guy if I needed 260's and he said no. Said she would just bog. Im pretty sure my jetting was good but once I tear it down I will get to see what caused the engine to give. What should I expect the pistons to look like if i was lean? Hole in the top of them?
  10. Got a price on them cylinders shipped to the uk?
  11. Hi all. My bike blew up and I am just buying the parts for her. Any way I bought a rick stator timing plate and want to know will I have to go up in mains and rejet the bike when I install it? Ive dmc aliens, k & N filter in box with lid on but snorkle removed, 240 mains, stock pilot, lightly ported cylinders, wiseco pistons, needle in middle clip. Bike ran greeat before it blew up so just wondering if i need to change my jetting when I put the timing plate on. Thanks everyone

Id like ones ported by Jeff from fast cos all ive read from the posts is that he is the dogs balls of porting  If not it doesnt matter. Thats all I think I need for now. 22. Yeah man. Defo gona rebuild. Cant wait to get back on it. Need to pick up a set of cases and a crank. Do you's think its safe enough to get a crank off ebay and put it in or would i need to get it trued and welded? I cant wait to get stuck into it and get a look at the jugs and pistons. Any ideas what could have caused it to blow up so bad? Is it a sign of being lean? Any ideas what else I could do when Ive got it stripped down? Cheers
  23. Check out the pics guys (hole in case)http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k402/ge...18/IMG_0146.jpg (Broken engine mount)http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k402/ge...18/IMG_0147.jpg (close up of broken rod)http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k402/ge...fitz18/146a.jpg http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k402/ge...18/IMG_0149.jpg (my shee stil on the trailer.. ) What ya's think?
  24. Yo guys, was out on my shee there last week and she completely blew up on the left cylinder. crank rod broke and busted through the front of the case (As we say in ireland she threw a leg outta bed!!!). Im on holiday now but will post up pics when I get home. My question is do you's think it is safe enough to buy a crank shaft off ebay? Also just before the bike blew up it was standing straight up on its back axle in a trench (kinda lost control!!! ). Do you's think this culd have caused it to blow? like would the coolant of run out of that cylinder a little or anything? Also any things you's think i should do to improve my bike now is welcome. Cheers Gerard
