no they use an mr16 bulb. minor upgrade from stock. i run the small mr11 hid lights from them with the ballast built in. they are pretty bright but require a battery and dc conversion to work. been debating switching to led lights and ditching the battery though.

these arent led or hid. just standard halogens.

basically. however like was mentioned while the tapered bearings are stronger the dual row is proven, popular and somewhat idiot proof. while setting up a tapered bearing will cause it to fail in short order.
