Portland Oregon here, just paid $60 for six passes...however clutch took a crap & only got 3.

It runs perfect...just not as much power as when it was set at 8.

yep, its been checked over & over. Even opened & closed it some to see if that made any difference.

I hadnt heard anything good about them lately either. I was pressed for time before a big ride so I bought it. I think i'll send my old one out & get it rewound & start with that... Thanks for the input, i'll keep ya posted.

I have a 96 banshee with a stock cylindered 7mil. I bought this engine from a buddy who rode it twice & went bigger. He ran 8 degrees timing with no problems. I ran it at 8 for a weekend, but it was very hard to start, especially when warm. I thought the hard start may be a stator going bad so replaced it with a ricky stator. Its started right up but wont idle, kinda does a rev....rev....rev.... I talked to my builder & he's never seen this on a newer model. I swapped cdi boxes & also installed a new coil. I've bumped it back to 6 and have had no problems since, just doesnt have the power it did at 8. Has anyone else seen this or have any ideas. I'm thinking about having my old stator rebuilt & trying that since it does seem that replacing the stator did change things, somewhat. Any input is appreciated.

My buddies stator went out so we installed a ricky stator 200w. Since then its had a high rpm backfire. Has anyone encountered this? Is there anything else that needs to be installed with this stator? regulator or ? Its jetted right on, plugs look great, top end new last season, timing 4 degrees, lightened flywheel, t5's, v-force 3's... This just started happening after the stator. Any help is appreciated.

I found out what was causing this today. It turned out that I had to bump my timing back. I'm not sure why, its run fine until I put a stator on, but it running awesome right now & i'm off to dunefest tomorrow, so i'm not gonna question it for a week!!! thanks for your help.

I've been fighting a hard start at times & ocassional dieing at idle. I put a new stator on it tonight & it fired up perfect, but when it idles it starts sounding like its firing both cylinders at the same time, off idle it seems fine. Anyone encountered anything like this? any help is appreciated.

i wrote that kinda screwy, when I brought it back after the "incident" it didnt idle, was kinda at mid throttle, so I only noticed it after I replaced the cable, so, it happened after the flight...lol

lol...i keep hoping it will turn up on youtube!!! its a built 7mil pinned in 4th, I landed it too, just couldnt hang on with it stuck wide open!!! my buddy said it did some cool s&^t!! dancing on the back tires, spinning around, etc. I dont know, it started doing it right after I replaced the throttle cable, but it obviously wouldnt idle with the throttle still partially stuck. He went completely through the carbs, set floats, adjusted idle screws & adjusted for wide open throttle, he's good, so part of me doesnt want to think its in the carbs, since he was just there...its idles great & it doesnt idle low...sounds awesome, just dies out of the blue, probably died 5 time last night, but fires right back up....it wierd.

just my 2 cents, but while you have your flywheel off i'd send it out & get it lightened, usually $40-60 bucks, I agree with the timing advance. I have a new set of vf3's if youre interested, pm me.

he had to bike, did a once over on it, made sure nothing was hurt & went through the carbs.

all that was just gone through by my builder, he was who recommended blowing out all the connectors, said he's seen some wierd electrical issues after crashes due to sand, etc getting into connectors...no luck there though.

yes, 35 pwk's should say that when I "almost landed my superman flight", lol, the bike was stilled pinned & did some pretty good flips & such, so i'm thinking it is probably something electrical that didnt like the wild ride. My builder also checked compression to make sure the motor wasnt hurt, its all good, 193lbs right, 196 left.

so a couple weeks back, got the new 7mil together & went to florence. My first wide open hill climb the throttle stuck...needless to say I did a nice superman over the other side of the hill. I replaced the throttle cable & had my carbs completely gone through by my builder, floats set, adjusted, etc. It runs awesome, but at idle it just dies. It starts back up first kick & seems if you keep it off idle it doesnt have any problems. I havent riden it since, so I dont know if it will cause my any other problems or not. We're heading to dunefest in 3weeks & i'd like to have it figured out. I'm gonna try to talk my buddy into letting me swap coil & cdi box from his. Has anyone experienced anything similar? Any ideas? I disconnected all my connectors & blew them out as well as the on/off switch, no change. Any & all input/ideas are appreciated. :wallbash:
