It's about what I expected to happen. I wasn't going to put another Boss basket in after this deal anyway. For as long as I've had it I'm suprised they want that far. If I got another one I probalby would have sold it and then felt bad for selling something that I thought was junk. It's probably best it worked out this way. Hopefully this new Hinson lasts awhile.

Man I just swapped an '03 Wr450 for a Suzuki a little while ago. I'm going to St Ants in a few weeks and gonna be driving right past you too. Figures. Good luck with the sale.

Had to ship my broken basket to Inland ATV in Cali so they could inspect it. That was over a week ago. Talked to Jim's wife to day and she said I bought it 16 months ago. Normally out of warranty. She said they usually don't warranty them because that's the nature of the beast. She said that Jim talked them into getting me one at half price. I could get one shipped for $90. That's a nice gesture and I am thankful for the help but I'm not going to pay another $90 for something that will blow apart after a year or so of riding.

I talked to him on Monday and his wife today. She said the same thing. Had a mini catastrophe. They are trying to get back to it. I've got a set of cylinders he ported on top of a 4mill and it rips. You'll be happy. Just make sure you other stuff is better than your buddies. Carbs, pipes, that stuff.
-
They have always been kinda hit or miss. Some of there stuff is ok some of it is crap. I've ran their pistons and had 0 issues. I've also used some of their seals and gaskets and been ok. Copper base gasket leaked on me. If you know what to and what not to get they are ok. Kinda like car parts at Autozone. Wiper blades are ok but I wouldn't get a tranny there. I just ordered a 10 Ball max load NTN Japanese, and a TZ roller from somewhere else. They are posted in big letters JAPANESE NOT CHINESE. Thanks alot for the info.
-
They came from Vito's. Ya I know they seem to sell alot of crap. They told me they were going to be NTNs. I asked as I was ordering them. They didn't come in a box which seemed alittle fishy. Just a flimsy plastic bag. They were $40 just like alot of other places. They also told me they were only $30 after I placed the order. Funny my bill didn't seem to reflect that. I already sent them an e-mail. Of course that was yesterday so I haven't heard back from them yet. You pretty much told me what I was looking for. I'll be getting some new ones. Sometimes you get lucky and find a deal. Not very often anymore though. Too many people like me are tightwads and have evened out the market. I looked all over for these things and even the local bearing shops wanted the same price as the online guys.
-
That's exactly what the number is. I took these pics. Not very good. Hopefully you can see what I'm talking about. I did take one bearing and lube it pretty well with pre mix oil. Spinning it then is when I noticed the noise. This is my bearing, look at the gap in the cage from top to bottom. This one I found online. See how the cage is centered all the way around?
-
The bearings are brand new. They feel tight and roll fine. I would imagine the cages would self center when they start spinning. I just hate to have one grenade on me. I'm doing all this because a clutch grenaded and I don't want to do it again soon if I can keep from it.
-
I think they are pretty loose. The ones I've taken off aren't like that. I'm going to call tomorrow and find some new ones. See if I can't take these ones back.
-
I'm working on that right now. Thinking I'll send these back.

Got some new crank bearings today. Specifically asked for 10 ball Maxloads. They look like them but have a funky number on them. I think they are Chinese made. The bearings feel tight and roll fine but the ball cages are loose. When you roll them with the bearing in place you hear a tink tink. The cage spins with the balls, falls, gets picked up and falls. Can't imagine that will be good at 10000 rpm. Any input from a few of you smart guys?

JP outlaw lt250/500 hybrid for trade....full dr.q motor
dave5.0 replied to 800screws's topic in Swap and Trade
Man that's sweet. I almost did that. Ended talking myself into stroking and porting the 250 instead. I bet that is a blast to ride once you get it started. I wish I had something to trade you . I'd love to have one of those set up like that. Good luck. -
Like I said I don't know the guy but all of the people I've met on that site have been pretty cool. Not sure of exact location, site and add are out of St. Louis area. I think he's asking 1700.00 for it. Might be worth checking out. Visit My Website

Official "BHQ" trip to Badlands Offroad Park in Attica, Indiana
dave5.0 replied to run's topic in Riding and Events Forum
Ya I know. This thing was running like crap and couldn't get the jetting right and then the clutch blew up and locked it up. Just haven't been very happy with it lately. While taking it apart I noticed the fancy Boss intake I just bought was missing a bolt. Wonder why my jetting was all over the place. I'm still working on getting parts to put it all back together. I'll be fixing quite a few things that are new so they last alittle longer this time. The old Banshee learning curve. Bite you in the ass averytime. -

This sucks. My bikes in a million pieces. I just saw this. Shit happens I guess. You guys have fun. I'll try and make the next one. Sheerider how come I didn't see any Honda pics? Do I have to go looking for them? I picked up a Z400. I love that thing. Almost made me want to swap this smokin pig for something with valves. I think I'm over it now but not sure. -
Got a few questions about motor internals

Pulled a bearing today and searched the numbers. 6305n seems to be a fairly popular size for bearings. I'm going to take it to Motion Industries tomorrow and see what they can cross it over to. -

Ya I think he was talking about running just one. You would want it on the clutch side then I would think. -
Good stuff man. I've got mine in pieces right now and might look into that stuff. I'm always missing shifts when drag racing. Don't want to go to a cut tranny so these might be stuff to try first. Thanks.
-
I don't buy those kind of gaskets either. They have always blown out on my too. I only use the ones that have metal in them now. Athena made a decent one, the last one I got from Passion Racing. Not sure of the brand but it was a one piece composite. Nice gasket.

I thought the maxload went on the clutch side? Since there isn't any load on the stator side? -

Thanks, I've got my crank out I was just hoping for some pics that I could get some numbers off of. If I can get some numbers they can look them up pretty quick. I thought about taking numbers off my bearings and seeing if they can cross them to anything. I can't imagine that a 2-3" roller bearing is going to cost $80 at a place like that. -

That's kinda what I figured. I'm wondering if these cool bearings can be bought at a bearing supplier for half the cost. I replaced all the bearings in my son's little Italian made 50 for about $40. I'd really like to see some of these bearings up close and get some numbers off them to see if it's possible. Alot of that kind of stuff isn't as special as it's made out to be if you know where to look. -

Are you gonna part the clutch or is it going with the motor? -

That's kinda what I figured. You wouldn't happen to have any laying around you could post closeup pictures of would you? Looking for the good ones. The Max load and the one with the rollers instead of balls. TZ I think it's called.
