The badlands site looked really cool, but 250miles might be farther than we really wanna drive... Anyone else know any good spots in MI to go for some fun ridin?
-
My friends and I want to go on one more trip for this summer, and we were thinking of going back to Baldwin, the trails there are pretty fun, there's about 100miles of them. But we've already gone there once this summer, and we're sorta thinkin about Silver Lake... but are there any other good parks/spots to ride other than those 2? We're starting from SW Michigan, between Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids, and dont want to drive TOO far.. but any good suggestions?

lol If you guys have the same pipes, then buy a pair, and split it.. unless your both needing the same side, then your screwed! :shoothead:

RILS, I have a tendancy to go through water sometimes, and/or mud... so I'm afraid to do that to it. Anyway, Thanks for the quick responses, guess that's what I'll do then!

I wan't a K&N Air Filter, but Magic has them for 40$, but for the proflo too, they go up to 100..... I just can't justify 60bucks for some little metal bracket.. My airbox lid is still on, but it's totally cut, as in you can see right through it, it's just the rim around it, and it still has the little plastic thing holding the stock filter. Is there anyway I could just buy the K&N filter, and use the stock setup to seal it??? THanks.

I dont have one... but check out the Cascade Innovations seat covers, there's a thread about them in the product review forum. They also have a custom seat designer, they're a little more pricey than other ones, but by far the best looking, and according to most, best quality too!

Mine are cut off basically, the same way all the draggers' cut them. And I've never been hit with any rocks or anything like that, but you definately get more mud sprayed on you if you spin 'em in mud/water.. But I figure... that's why I'm wearin riding clothes!

Okay, I just got a quart of AMSOIL 10w40 to put into my tranny, and I just need to know how much to put in?
-
Well, I suppose Techically, I DO have a airbox lid... but it's completely got the top cut out.. It's just the boarder of it more or less, just enough left to clamp it on, and use it to hold the stock filter in, like you said.

I'm about to put in an order at Magic racing, and am thinking about gettin a K & N filter with it. Anyway, I already have no air box lid, and I cant run pods because I go through water once and a while, and dont want to risk it. So anyway, my question is this, will I need any special kind of adapter to fasten this filter in?? http://www.magicracing.com/KN-Filter--Banshee_p_170-454.html Also, do you think I'll need to rejet because of it?? How much of a gain will I see from switching from stock air filter to this one w/ an outerwears? I have FMF Fatty's also, if that makes a difference. Right now I'm running a 280main. EDIT: I'm also at about 950-1000ft elevation, here in SW Michigan, if that helps.

Just a little update.. I'm just waitin for an order I put with Magic for some jets, and some other things to get here sometime the first half of this week. Other than that, I've just been riding it like it is the last 2 days... runs perfect just doesnt idle. When you start it up, all you gotta do is just BARELY hold the throttle, probly moving the throttle 1-2mm will make it idle perfect.. but if u let go of the gas, its dead. Anyway, I'll update this again when I get the 27.5 jet's, and see how it goes.

Can you tell me what wires to disconnect.. cuz I dont want to just go disconnecting stuff I actually need. lol! Or point in to a link that shows. Also, would disconnecting the wires--I take it, that would effectively eliminate the TORS, the only difference would be I'd still have the carb tops? Also, I think my carbs are a little out-of-sink, could I have done this by turning the idle adjusters ontop of the TORS?? Maybe they're not in the same position? When I take off, it feels like one cylinder is getting more gas sooner than the other or something. I think maybe the slides just aren't going up at the same rates, but whats the best way to even them up?

Well, I went to the other shop today, they didn't have what I needed in stock either, and couldn't get it till monday... So I guess if I order some from Magic tomorrow I wont have them till monday at the earliest either. God I hope this solves my problems. Knowing my luck it will end up being something $$$$. Don't understand how you can park something with it being perfect, and 2days later it not work. lol so frustrating.

About 15miles north of Kalamazoo. In the SW'ern portion. I live in a town called Delton.

Well, I went and got some 27.5, and 30 pilot jets today, to try and put in. But when I got home and went to put em in, I tore it all apart, and the damn jets were WAAY bigger than my pilot, they wouldn't even fit in the whole. Looked like they weren't even for a banshee/stock carb/whatever.. So I'm gonna go to a different place tomorrow I guess and see if they have any... I sure hope this fixes the problem... I'm hoping to go to Silver Lake Dunes soon, and need it to run right.

Where..exactly, are all the electrical connections I should be checking? I checked the connection coming into the throttle case on the bars, sprayed it down with a boat load of contact cleaner. I dont have a parking break anymore, or stock clutch perch. What other wires/connections should I check?
-
Yep, the tube between the carbs in in place, and perfect condition, no cracks on the ends or anything. No, I didnt switch anything up, because I took one carb off at a time, to be extra careful, since I'd never done it before. Any suggestions on pilot size? What's the next up from 25? Also, I tried some brand new plugs today, NGK BR8ES, same ones as were in there. Just went to the shop and told 'em I needed Banshee plugs. I've also read that the air screw? has something to do with idle too?? I dunno... just seems weird. Before when it idled, after I first got it, I always thought the idle seemed really, really low, like it was barely goin, it was so quiet you could talk over it quite easily. Although it idled absolutely -perfect-, and you could start it up, and walk away for however long you wanted, and it would still be purring nicely. Soooo tomorrow morning I'll go and get some larger pilots.

Any1??? :baseball_bat: :baseball_bat: I need to get this runnin!

Well just got back from working on the banshee today.. Still won't idle. Tried cleaning all the carbs out good and everything, also allt eh connections I could find from the TORS. I dont have the stock clutch lever/perch so I guess there's no parking break, or anything.. Pulled the plugs and they look like new, I'm gonna pick up some new ones tomorrow anyway. The carbs look pretty clean, but I made sure to clean them all very good, and in the jets and everything. It's running a 280main in both, and a 25pilot in both. I've got FMF Gold Series Pipes, and no air box lid. Sound right?? Anyway, it's still running perfect everywhere in the range besides it wont idle AT ALL. Any ideas??? If you hold in the clutch and let go of the gas, it dies where it should start idling.. Help please, I need to ride!

I dont know if any of you guys knew this or not, but regular Armor All like you'd spray on your vehicle's interior panels works GREAT on your plastic! After you get done spraying it off, dry it with a towel, then spray on some armor all and whipe it in with some paper towels or a rag or something. It will really bring the shine and smoothness out in it.

Ya I know, although I dont have time to go order/wait for the kit right now, I wanna ride this afternoon! lol. I plan on doing a lot of overhauling including TORS kit, and all that soon. But any tips for adjusting or other ideas to fix the current problem?
-
I'm gonna go and try to work on it in a little bit here, but if none of that stuff solves the problem, any other ideas I could try, or tips for how to correctly tune the idle on completely stock carbs WITH TORS still on them?
-
That's because there is so much power the tires dont hook up quick enough to wheelie!!

telling if you have a bad gasket?
2stroker4ever replied to Rebel3190's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I ALWAYS replace any gasket you break the seal of, when putting things back together.. -
I dont see any parking break anywhere on it... I'm thinking it was removed. The air filter could stand for a cleaning, but isn't too bad. It ran great when parked also. Just put the gas in the other day.. topped it off after a long day of riding, Friday. It's 32:1 with 93octane, and yamalube 2-R. Same I've been running since I bought it. The quad isn't at my home, but at my friends, where we ride, so I dont have it right here to pull the plugs and check, but I was thinking maybe it was just some kind of idle adjustment problem, or something I dont know about. I've never dealt with jetting or anything. I learn fast, and have rebuilt my old Blaster a couple times n all, so I have a little experience.
