  1. Im in Taylor, about 15 miles south of Detroit . We will be riding the Atlanta area and we also take day trips to mounds which sucks. But as they say riding is like sex even when its bad its still pretty good!! I am the proud owner and mechanic of a freshly rebuilt 96 SHEE hungrily awating heavy modification. Its gonna be a trail monster....eventually.
  2. That thing kicks ass!! Thank you for that. Ive been looking for a pit bike of sorts but im 6'2 240 lbs so the thought of me squatting on a lil 50 gives me the chills. This is perfect but I aint spending no 7 grand on it Oh well look out 50 here I come ::
  3. If anyone knows anyone???
  4. Please show a pic of these fans Im interested in how you did it so it doesnt look stupid! Im having a small overheating problem and though about a fan that I could turn on when my temp starts climbing when I need to go slow. I have a very short track and my shee always pukes a little coolant when Im running her hard. A fan would be Kick ass. The 450r's have em on the back side I wonder if we could fit one on the back side or is there not enough room?
  5. Im riding a very short track in my buds back yard its only a first and second gear track not more than a 150' straight away and then hills and banks and berms. I ordered a pro design impeller It wasnt overheating but would spit coolant out of the overflow after running hard for 20 min or so only a teaspoon full or two . I didnt think it should overheat either but it does and it is bone stock with pro lites and a brand new topend. Jetting is perfect a lil darker than chocolate brown which is fine. The motor was 10 years old and was within specks everywhere I had it honed to match the .003 clearance and was golden.
  6. What kind of coolant do you run? Im using 50/50 coolant antifreeze with water wetter. Whats the lowest amount of anti freeze I should use if I wanna take a few rips this winter in the back yard? My shee overheats a ton and I started using water wetter in my coolant and It doesnt overheat now. Ive also heard that running distilled water and water wetter works better than coolant and water wetter. Whats the best combo. I ordered a pro design impeller and have heard about engine ice but what works better?
  7. Im no expert but Im thinking it depends strictly on what distance your drag racing . If your going a full quarter mile Id say highs due to the distance and that the motor will be in the upper range of the powerband most of the time . If your going a shorter distance (300-660 feet) id say mid/high Low end is for trails
  8. Ive been looking on ebay for a pro design high flow impeller and they cost $60-$80 and dont come with a gear? Whats the deal ? Isnt the little plastic gear inside the case what goes bad so often? Why wouldnt they sell a kit with the impeller shaft and gear along with a case gasket and waterpump housing gasket?
  9. The manufacturers pulled those from the market due to 2 Deaths and multiple serious head neck and spine injuries. your only supposed to go 20 mph or less on those and if you fall off from more than 10-15 feet in the air going 40 mph you do the math!!! Id love to try it but its the stupid fucks that get 200 feet of rope and have the damn thing 30 or 40 feet in the air going WFO and then fall off and fuck themselfs up that ruin it for all. There was several news stories about them around here this summer. Some 16 yr old girl used to ride around a lake out here by us every weekend . They called here Kite Girl , Shes paralized now after taking a nasty spill from 20 feet in the air You can find em on ebay just dont be a jack ass when using it and youl be fine
  10. Once i smelled coolant id shut her down and Ive never heard it boiling so to speak at all just about less than a teaspoon full spit out onto the pipe thats all
  11. Not much just a little bit or just enough for me to smell the collant steaming off the pipe. I rode the piss out of it after the rebuild through the trails and it didnt do it once. I was hitting a berm in second in the backyard and wheelying out into third and then shut n her down . Its about a 125' stretch so who knows Im gonna get the impellar and gear and run some engine ice and hopefully that takes care of it. If not im replacing the radiator cap and seeing if thats the problem. Other than an engine pressure test how can I check for leaks? Does the carb cleaner sprayed all around the engine while running trick work?
  12. Im almost positive the gear is fine I kicked it and my buddy tryed to hold it to see if it was stripped and it wasnt it spun fine every time. I can even see it flowing with the radiator cap off! Do they make a metal gear for it All Ive seen on ebay is the impellar attached to a shaft but no gear with it? No good to just pay $70-$80 for an impellar if the plastic gear it goes on is stripped right? I dont want another plastic one, who makes a metal one or one less prone to stripping?
  13. I was running the shee around the backyard last week it was around 47-50 degrees outside and after around 30 min or so it started puking coolant out onto my front right pipe from the overflow tube. I never much got it out of 3rd gear but I just dont know why its overheating. I just put it back together a month or so ago and have a few rides on it since with no problems. I checked my impellar when I rebuilt the top end and it was fine no broken fins and spun fine when kicked over and no coolant in the crank case. Are banshees really that hard to keep from overheating in 50 degree weather? Its bone stock other than the new prolites and rings. Stock jetting stock everything. Im gonna try a high flow impellar and engine ice but it just doesnt make sense that it would overheat completely stock in 50 degree weather? I know your supposed to rejet for cold weather riding but I didnt think you had to if it was just a little cooler than normal Help me out. any suggestions? all gaskets and surfaces were imaculate when the topend was rebuilt what else could it be. And what kinda compression should I have stock @ 400-800 above sea level (general michigan elevation) I was reading 100 in both sides before rebuild and 125 after rebuild
  14. blue ray is the wave of the future my friends think of dvds as the new laserdiscs (nonexistant) If its no better why are people paying $800-$1000 for a blu ray player??? Because they are fucking awsome. You think the 360 has good graphics!!!! Just wait imagine looking at yourself in the mirror thats what kind of picture quality blu ray has!! I do think the x box is sweet I bought one but it will be going on the back shelf come next spring when the ps3 drops about $200 in price
  15. I just got some paul turner mid range pipes and had a question. Im running a gytr twin air filter (looks like stock replacement with full airbox lid and all) I am going to be installing these pipes in a few days. What do I need to do as far as rejetting? what mains and others need to be changed? I live in michigan so 400-800 feet above sea level roughly. trail riding and an ocasional dune trip. Any help would be great
  16. Trails, ORV parks, up and down the street, buddys back yard (see below) My buddy (250r owner) has 2 acres as his back yard so we built a track about 900' total length thru the woods along the creek that runs along side and straight across the back of his property. It has 2 jumps 1 should be a double but we havent built the landing ramp yet(stock shocks falling from 8' in the air sucks). It also has a connector in the middle of the kidney bean shaped track which makes it a figure eight. Theres 2 bank turns, a little steep incline you can wheelie off of out onto the straight away. Its kinda short so the shee cant stretch her legs but you can get into 3rd on the straight before you gotta either lock em up or go into a mad powerslide to hit the turn. Not a good track for hot weather longer than 10 or 15 minutes (Hopefully pro design impellar and engine ice fixes this)
  17. I only nail the ones considered on the "porn star" level. Or at least were at some point (MILFS) Im acting giddy like a child because I got this thing 4 months ago and thought it was sweet only to find I had 90lbs of compression in both cylinders. So a week before labor day I ripped it apart thinking I would only need rings. After finding my pistons and rings were 2 strokes from total disaster I was down for a while due to funds missing ride after ride up north. But I got some new pro lites and had a lil clean up port job. I was thinking Id get smoked by the new big iron. Nope. Barely beat me by a quad. Although they were both bone stock so is mine other than the clean up porting which seemed to really wake this thing up. There was a guy on a black limited edition out there( Also bone stock but no porting) I took him by a whole length 4 straight races and never saw him again to chat with him. Ya know whats funny. Even though I found out what it had and was very happy Ive been scrolling ebay for pipes, reeds, K&N filter , shocks, tires . Pretty much everything I wasnt happy about like traction, exhaust note, suspension ( I feel like I was hit by a truck yesterday, Im too out of shape). Anyways, thanks for listening Im sure you know how it is
  18. Went to mounds today in michigan. Lined em up with a stock 05 450r and a stock 05 yfz450 Leaving hard in 2nd I was able to pull out a quad or so they caught me fast and jumped out a quad length and just when I started to gain a little we had to shut em down. Several races and most with same result. 1st yfz450 2nd 450r 3rd with my front tires even with the 450rs rear tires The freshly rebuilt 96 banshee. The yfz had the 450r by a half quad or so . I was very impressed with the ol 96er. I have the stock dunlop shit tires on her too . Im pretty confident with some holeshots Id have taken the win. What a giant f...ing mud hole it was out there today, which seems to be the case everytime we ride it. I babied her for about a tank but I was powershifting by the end of the day. The guy on the yfz wasnt using the clutch when he shifted. It was bone stock do any of you do this? (shift without clutch on stock tranny) He said he only uses it to start off and to stop? WTF?? It was awsome I feel like someone kicked my ass for 5 hours. She sure is a handfull when ya grab a thumbfull over nasty 3 ft uneven whoops. There was some gnarly berms with winding straights that I was untouched on. Coming off a warrior as my last quad there just isnt any feeling better than ripping 1st through 4th sideways on a banshee. Those new 4 stokes are fast and my hats off to em but there is no substitute for that eyeball flattening 2 stroke power. It took me all of 20 minutes to get the feel for keeping it in the rpms Sorry for rambling on Im f...ing stoked right now. Can anyone tell me which way does what on the stock rear adjustable shock on the 96 banshee? I want the rebound to be alot slower it seemed to be launching the backend in the whoops Ill post some pics of the aftermath in a few!!
  19. I put my motor back together last weekend after the top end rebuild. I flushed and refilled the radiator with fresh new coolant warmed it up with the cap off and made sure the level was ok and all the air bubbles were out. Changed from Klotz synthetic to valvoline petroleum based 2 stroke oil for the break in. I performed the 3 heat cool cycles and re torqued everything. Im going riding tomorrow. Should I take it easy for a half tank or so then let her rip? Ive ridden it a half hour or so after rebuild. Anything else I should do ?
  20. Im in too... even though I just put mine back together
  21. I just rebuilt my top end Whole kit pro lites with gaskets circlips wrist pins bearings $139.99 at moto man in south east michigan. Ive never even seen the inside of a 2 stroke engine before But I had no problems whatsoever. Even bought a ball hone and honed em myself. bought a bore gauge and calipers to check piston clearance. Honed em out to .003 of clearance just like the weisco box said. All for under $300 $275 to be exact. Took me 3.5 hrs to completely put it back together. Ran the 3 heat cool cycles and checked torque each time , Used the carb cleaner trick to check for engine leaks all is good she rips like never before
  22. Sup man Im from Taylor. We just happened across 140 wooded acres between wick and goddard by inkster. A few friends from back in high school have been riding it for years. Were also headed up to Mt. Morris this weekend (SUNDAY 10-5-06) Im not a big fan of mounds but a buddy of mine has never been and is set on going. I got a stock shee and my buddys on a blaster due to a meltdown on his 250R and another buddys on a cr250r If anyone from th HQ is gonna be there let us know.
  23. The porting was done by a shop. They only ported it for stock pipes and a K&N it was actually recommended to use stock pipes with the porting they did. The quad came with an adjustable aftermarket cdi box that was never installed I have it somewhere Ill look for it. I jetted it for the K&N nothing more. When it was stock it took a little leaning back to get the wheels to come up in 1st thru 3rd just gasing it on a roll now it takes most of my big ass leaning forward to keep the front wheels on the ground while doing the same thing. Id say it was pretty impressive actually. The shop says that the porting with K&N should give me 8-11 horse give or take. If you guys are interested in learning about porting look up macdizzy.com its a great site about two strokes!!!
  24. That was 55 horse mildly ported with pipes not bone stock my mistake. I find the banshee ok stock but I am coming off a 160 horse triple triple SRX snowmobile which was stupid fast (how i like it) I wanna be scared every time I ride it!!!! Dont we all!!
  25. I bought a 96 banshee rode it for a month and then found compression to be 100 psi in both cylinders. My pistons/rings were worn so I mapped / ported the cylinders, had em honed and replaced the stock pistons with a weisco pro lites. It is bone stock other than the reeds and porting what kind of horse should it be putting out? I may opt for pipes but need them 95db or less for my state. If I do get pipes Ill have the porting done a little more radical. What is the most youve heard of or know you can get out of a stock motor with stock pipes? I heard 55 or so horse but I know nothing!! Any input would be great
