i dont have the tool to hold the flywheel in place so i can torque the primary drive bolt and the clutch basket bolt and flywheel down...how else can i hold the stuff in place or do i really need the tool??? thanks fellas

actually no but im gonna buy one now i see it.handy little tool my father got me with that "here hold this son" spark trick holding the coil wire on the lawn mower when i was a little kid....damn i wish i had that tool then lol

i dont even know what gears wont shift sometimes.it seems like when the shift star is in nuetral,the trans spins freely.i can hit first and second and sometimes i can get third.but if i keep shifting it it seems like the other gears are nuetral but the star isnt lined up in nuetral.also sometimes it seems like it shifts through all the gears but then i cant shift it back down,like it only does a half shift or something...pissing me off lol.so basically it shifts but not correctly.it shifted fine before i tore it down and i dont see anything bent.im lost and this manual dont tell me shit :shrug:

sweet,thanks guys.i thought about maybe a 4/3 pattern too but let me know how them hook up JT,and if u get around to taking a few pics cool. dave i goy them off ebay.payed 100 bucks for 144 with alluminum backers all like new! couldnt pass it up.dude even threw in about 25 or so new picks with all. backers just for the hell of it another question..what about installing them?i gotta buddy that put washers on em that he said over lap eachother in a certain way so they dont flex (inside of tires obviously).and these little 1 inch or so heads on the chisels,are they gonna stay in the tires without ripping out of the rubber or should i run washers? i ran picks before and ripped almost evry one of them out of my tires

so after re-gearing and a solid bar in place of rear marvin it finally comes down to my tires.for 1 not enough chisels,2..wrong tires for the chisels,and 3..just shitty wore down chisels .anyways.got all new chisels and some descent flat like tires.whats a good pattern for chisels and how many.i dont wanna overkill it...i got about 260 now and backers but how many do i put in the new tires.mine now i run 54 each but mind u theyre wore down.help me out guys gimme some ideas or pics of what yall run :beer:

yup.intake gastket does often go on them.will cause it to bog since it sucks oil like a vacuum if it goes.also if the gasket is bad most times ull hear a spark nock.as far as the rad leaking.i would replace that asap.its best to just buy a new one for the price of a recore...210 bux liftime warr.and the low idle,as mentioned check all ur vacuum lines for leaks or breaks.i have the same motor in my 97 ram and just had to replace the rad and the intake gasket not even a month ago...oh and the trans a few years back lol
