  1. Sounds like its time to clean the carbs, if thats something your unfamiliar with just do a search theres a few walk throughs- (while you have them apart, take note of the clip position on needle, main, and idle jet sizes) Dont forget the choke tube when you put it all back together. Toss in some new plugs, turn the gas back on and kick it.... It may come right to life with clean idle jets! If not you'll want to run it and read the plugs to check the jetting (search for plug chop, and or reading plugs) then start to adjust your jetting as needed.
  2. As a rule of thumb, anytime you adjust the air flow of the motor, in or out you should be re-jetting! Whats your elevation? With that there are tons of ppl around here that can get you wicked close to the proper jetting...
  3. The carbs are pretty easy to clean, just dont tear the bowl gaskets....and use lots of carb cleaner (displaces any water, dries nicely). Like mentioned above, make sure the choke tube is in place and carb tops/gaskets are securely in there place. Im sure you can do a search and find a walk through for cleaning stocker carbs, pix and destructions.
  4. With the wide variety of riding he does, im willing to bet the loss of some low end power is a no go. Thack, I think your looking in the right direction w the 28mm PWK's. They're great carbs, easy to tune, and quite responsive once you've got em dialed in.... AND you dont have to change your intakes and or air filter set-up.
  5. Thats what i'm after.... show me whatchya got.
  6. put me on that list of buyers, incase the other guys dont come thru! I need, yes need a set of PT's
  7. who does it around here? anyone do a 12 oz lighter version like Ron used to do?
  8. 28mm or bigger, gas or alky. let me know what you have. need cable and filters too have looked on ebay, would just rather buy from someone on here
  9. hit me up w some info on the carbs. and reed set up. need some soon
  10. my first set didnt have power jets either. but I dont remember what size the dump tube was drilled to, the jets differed. I did end up running a pingel, but didnt have the inlet drilled any. they worked flawlessy with the 350 I had, untill I ported it. Maybe I should go dig around on PS, seems do be alot of good information over there.
  11. The R stands for resistor type plugs. If I remember correctly that factory plus is a R...look it up, I might be wrong. But, they wont hurt you to run them. As for the carb leaking, you can try pulling the need out (float needle) and use a q-tip to clean the seat. Also blow out the whole with a small amout of compressed air, to remove all the shit. Check the needle end, where the rubber point it. If its dirty, clean it, or if need be (if the rubber is jacked up) replace it.
  12. Touchy subject. Lots of ppl have different opinions. Ive talked to trail riders that love them. They love the ability to get it on the pipe quicker coming out of corners. Sure sometimes traction can be an issue, but easily corrected with the right set-up on the bike. Then ive talked to drag racers that like the full weight, like said above, for the rotating mass. But thats all it is in dragging, once again the bike set-up is much more important. If you trail ride, or race mx..whatever and the lightened flywheel makes you lose tracion, add some.
  13. If it was me, and I just rebuilt the engine, then I would jet it a bit rich. I would then do a break in cycle (heat up, cool down, repeat) for a tank or so, then start jetting it down. Always use new plugs in a new engine...
  14. c'mon guys, i know there are a few old timers or professionals lurking around here.... someone with the knowledge i'm in need of.
  15. really. thanks for your opinion, altho thats not really what I was asking for.

  18. Dont care about the finish, as long as it is tight, and straight... I've got an itchy paypal trigger, and need an arm badly, someone hook me up.
  19. Like being addicted to cough medicine. That stuff in rancid. Im partial to Full Throttle, doesnt have the aftertaste that most of em have.
  20. Share with us who did the head work, professor. Could help some of the guys out who are still running a stock and looking for a bump in power.
  21. Thats a serious jump in elevation bro. I would put my money that its all in the jetting. Tune her up, and she'll make the hill.
