  1. FFS.. I miss a few days here and there and miss out on dropping the ban hammer??
  2. If only these were the 24" carcass...
  3. I'm in.. when the 4 seat gets released... lol
  4. Little Sahara is by far the better choice for riding since you can ride when ever you want right from your camp site. It also helps its 4x larger. Silver lake is nice for us locals.. since its all we got.. but if you been to LS OK.. then silver lake will probably be a disappointment.
  5. They dyno sheet in question was posted by M&M back in the day. It did show 20:1 made more power then 50:1 Not 100% sure on the details as that was probably 5yrs or so ago. I run 20:1 in my alky motors. I'm not a fan of the theory.. "less is more" when it comes to oil.
  6. these are hi-temp gloss. I'm pretty sure he said he does hi temp ceramic too.
  7. You dont have to have big stores. Just a sporting goods store that deals in firearms. Actual sporting goods stores will carry better selection and quality then any dept store. Walmart typically carriers only entry level cartridges from big names like remington and winchester (both garbage IMO) and they're shelf time is huge because people dont buy ammo from a grocery store. You also dont know how its been stored.. Which makes them inconsistent. Just because its brand name instead of "great value" dont make it good. Most times, stores like wal-mart and other big chain dept stores by second quality products so they can price them cheaper or make more profits based off the products name. There is a 80% chance.. if the city is big enough for a wal-mart.. there is a sporting goods store near by. Most people dont shoot often enough that they need ammo within 10min drive.. and if they do they probably load they're own at that point. Point is... The OP is taking time to research what he wants and get the best bang for his buck.. the last thing he needs to do is make the choice based on what ammo is available at the local fruit market. I dont think he would build a drag bike to run off 87 because thats what the local stations carry.. He would build the motor the way he wants, then make the drive to buy the fuel and probably buy an extra 5-10 gallons while he's there.
  8. I usually drive about a hour or so for my store of choice. A big selection is nice so you got a lot to compare too and you can see them side by side.
  9. Wal-mart ammo is junk and inconsistent. You dont walk into a sporting goods store to buy eggs and milk.. why would you do the same for ammo? who said anything about internet/magazine order? Its like having port work done by a dealer.. Just because they can/do dont mean they should.
  10. Go with the standard. The compact is a youth gun. It has shorter stock length and comes with spacers to increase the stock length as the shooter grows. I bought the compact for my 10yo son chambered in a 7mm-08. T/C was bought by smith and wesson about 5yrs ago or so. They renovated their facility and moved the manufacturing of the T/C rifles in. I actually had a T/C Icon 6.5 on order during this process. 2 yrs after being on order I cancelled and bought a ruger hawkeye. The T/C seems to be the better quality rifle as far as feel goes. I paid 325.00 for the T/C venture compact and 800.00 on the ruger hawkeye. Another brand to look at would be the weatherby Vanguard. Its built by howa (Japan) to weatherby specs. Both the Vanguard and T/C are guaranteed sub MOA. The vanguard even comes with a target sheet from the factory. I own a couple of the vanguards too. I like them a lot. I still feel the T/C quality is better. the only complaint I have on the T/C is the synthetic stocks. I'm a fan of wood and laminate. Purely cosmetic reason. The rubber inlays on the T/C feels comfortable and gives a solid grip. So I like the function.. just not the looks. lol
  11. Phil, most ammo is easy to find if you got a cabelas, gander mtn, bass pro shop or other major sporting goods store near you. I wanted a low recoil round that performed well at longer range. The 6.5 CM has the recoil of a .243 and BCE of a .300 WM. It not hard to find ammo for it. My point was.. Research the round that best fits what your looking to do and go with that. Ammo is easy to find when you know what your looking for. I'll agree with Green on the Ruger rifles. I really like my hawkeye. The Savage Axis rifles are cheap (similar to Ruger american).. and you get what you pay for. Best bang for the buck IMO is the T/C venture if you dont mind synthetic stocks. As far as the round of choice. the .308 is tuff to beat. Its hands down the most versatile round. Moderate recoil, great ballistics and the factory ammo options are endless. My 2nd choice would be the .270 win. The 30-06 is nice, I just feel its a bit heavy on the recoil for what your looking to do with it. I would stay clear of the Mag's.. ammo is priced much higher and not practical for a do all rifle.
  12. You can't get the rounds at wal-mart. would not buy.
  13. It could be a older style LSR. I did buy a complete billet hub and carrier setup from them. Ive been using 40mm axles for a LONG time and this some how got lost in my box.
