yesterday was my shake down run on my new motor. It is a 4mm long rod with weisco 795's a vito's plate , it's been ported (wicked lookin jugs done here in canada) but the port heights have not been altered. Stock head no milling.CPI inframes,v-force3's ,+4* keyway,34mm pj's, no air box (made my own filter to carb manifold to keep the filter away from the pipes, spacerplate issues!). The carbs are box stock still, prejetted from alba(sudco).CEG needles in the middle,152 mains, 45 clicks out on the idle adjust (7.5 turns i think), 1.5 out on the air screw with...78!?!?! pilots. My first thought was what the hell is the 2nd richest pilot jet doin in here? I figured this would get me by just for seating the rings. But when i kicked it over...it idled! i was shocked and suprised cause from the info i've read here on HQ this shouldn't be so easy! I put a heat cycle through it and was mighty impressed! 2nd cycle the same, but the 3rd run ended with a sputter just above idle.It would rev with the clutch in but not under load.It sounded like it ran out of gas, nope.Plugs looked sweet too.BUT it was maybe 1 degree above freezing when i tryed this,i'm thinking maybe the first to rides were not long enough to get it Hot. Then that fat pilot jet reared it's ugly head? What do you guys think? Am i headed in the right direction?
