I just bought a basket case banshee today. I noticed that this one has the oldschool gold rims but they're painted black. Anyone know if I can sand blast the paint off without killing the gold finish? Should I sodablast instead?

where in Jersey do you guys live? I live in Wayne and there are a lot of places to ride over here. You do have to ride on a few streches of road and run from the cops here and there but usually its all good.

My father and I have been working on my shee all winter. I bought it used and it blew up on me. Water pump went and that made the radiator blow out. I fixed that and sent the top end out to be boared out. I rebuity the carbs, the bike has fmf pipes and headers, v force reeds. My question is one out of paranoya. (did I spell that right) Anyway, did I mention this is the first bike we have owned? It seems to work great but also seems like ot could be geared a little better. Is there an easy way to determine if the bike is geared right or jetted right fo rthat matter? I was wondering if there is anyone near by who can check this bikes gearing and jetting is spot on so I don't have to take it to the dealership for a tune up. I live in Jersey. Advice would be much appreciated. i don't want to break down in the wods.

I figured I would post here. I was going make my own post but maybe my problem will shine some light on blindriders problem. I am having the same problem but oil is shooting out my left silencer. I just overhauled my bike. Bought new carb rebuild kit, Sent out my topend to be boared out and got new pistons, rejetted. (I have no idea how to jet as this was my first time doing it) Bike started riht up to my suprise then I hit the throttle and blew a big black mist of oil and gas out the back. My seals were perfect before and this is the first time my bike has been started all winter. Is it the ? jetting? old gas? seals? WTF? So maybe it is not your seals.

Ok, I bought a banshee and it needed some work so I took it apart, rebuilt the carbs and lost a jetting needle. So, I have to get new ones. I have the needles that came with the rebuild kit but I am not sure if I can use them? My bike mas fmf pipes, and headers, vforce reeds and open airbox. The thing that I cant figure out from reading the other posts on jetting is 1) Do I need a particular type of jetting needle for my upgrades and location or is it just the setting of the stock needle that I am using? What should I do? What do I need to buy? Other than tons of other upgrades. i mean for my jetting application.

Ok, i am working on rebuilding my carbs and I have to say that I am a little bit lost. Is it ok to keep my old jets? I will post some pics a little later after I finish the first carb. they seem to be in tact. There isn't a lot of gumming up inside that i can see. the carbs on my bike are mikuni? Are those stock?

Ok, I just bought 2 carb rebuild kits and a new plunger kit because mine was shot and I will be taking pics this weekend if the plunger kit comes in the mail. Should be interesting because I have no idea what I am doing. I will be jumping in with just a hundred year old manual.

Are you sure? He took a little while to get back to me but he did come through. He sold some other stuff to to a few other poeple on atv trader and here and came through for them to. You never know though. People aren't consistant

Yea, There are soem carbs on ebay at a good price but I will try cleaning them first. I will post pics because they look f__ed. If that doesn't work I will just buy new ones

So if you change out you carbs to 28mm or 30mm what is the hp gain right there from the stock ones? I have reeds and pipes. i am tryng todecide if I should get new carbs or rebuild mine.

How much do those go for and if I go with those what other mods do I have to do to use them?

I bought the quad the way it is jetted for the parts it already has. I don't know the setttings are. I haven't looked yet. I think the slides are sticking to. The carbs are really mucked up. The bike needs some work. What's the deal with the jet kit? Do I have to get a specific kit or will any kit work but needs to be set to a specific placement?

Ok, I just bought a banshee with vforce reeds, fmf pipes and headers, and a open airbox with a k&N filter. The bike has some problems with the carbs though. When the carbs are cold or when the slightest bit of water gets in the carbs the bike races violently and the problem is getting worse and worse. the other day my radiator sprung a leak. I replaced the radiator. Don't know if that has anything to do with the carbs but thought I would mention. My question:, I don't really want to buy new carbs because I am low on cash. What I was thinking was to buy a carb rebuild kit. The rebuild kit comes with needles. Will I have to buy an aditional jet kit on top of the carbs rebuild kit or does the kit come with the needlses that will replace the jet kit? What the hell do I do? I need help. Do I have to buy new carbs or can mine be fixed for less money?

If I choose to change the dome size, What else do I ave to do to the bike to compensate for changing over? Nothing? or does it require further mods?
