  1. Wow so many replies I couldnt read all of them. I race in the woods and I've been on the stockers up until now. They will run fine as long as they are jetted properly. Here are a list of mods I had with my stock carbs: DMC Alien pipes No-Toil Foam filter Jet kit for the 26's Boyeson Power Reeds No lid on the air box 2 degree timing advance NGK Iridium Plugs (most say they you dont need, but with so much low end I never fouled a plug w/ them) DynaTek FS Ignition (optional, I fried my stock one) ITP Holeshot HD (front and rear) Steering Stabilizer (a must if you dont want broken fingers or hands) Engine Ice (anything to keep it cooler) Stock Gearing (front and rear sprockets) Noss Reed Spacers (helps w/ the low end torque in the tight sections) Extended thumb throttle lever Custom Rebuilt Elka Elite Piggies Rebuilt and revalved stock rear Shock Most of those are simple bolt on mods that arent too expensive (except the ignition and shocks). The only real problems I ever had were with engine heat, most of which can be cured with a Hi-Flow billet impeller, engine ice, and a cool head. One of the main things you need to do if you ride in the woods alot is keep the filter clean and watch the compression. Any type of air leak will let in dirt and will wreak havoc on your motor! This year, I've added the 2 into 1 kit, shaved the head .010, advanced timing to +5, 50/50 110/91 octane race fuel (motor wanted to ping some last season so I want to make sure its not going to this year).
  2. Any pictures of yours so we can see the condition?
  3. I have a set of gold stock front and rear. Let me know if you still need.

    a few parts needed

I have a brand new dual carb thumb throttle cable from toomey racing. Its brand new and still in the original packaging. I got it as a just in case when I was out racing but I'm switching to a 2 into 1 so it wont do me much good anymore. $25 and it'll be headed your way.
  5. Just from my experience in the organization I race with on the state level, I couldnt race near the race I am on a 4 stroke as compared to my banshee. Yes, I got my banshee b/c it was what I could afford (practically brand new for 2,500) at the time. I've tried taking a 450r and a yfz around the track and I couldnt hand it back to the owner fast enough. I believe about 90 percent of what Meat said in that you will see all of the top pro's on a 4 stroke plain and simple. Part of the reason is because as of 2006 thats is all that is being made and partly because the banshee does take so much more effort to ride at that level (and lets not forget about the no fan part). But in my first year of racing and the 5 races I did, I placed 9th in my first race (lost the skirt on a piston), DNF (clipped a rock and bent my steering stabilizer where I couldnt make a right turn), 4th, 4th, and 1st (I was the only 2 stroke on the track and passed every rider in every class but the pro's). This is why I dont believe its time is up yet. You can still be competitive on one but you have to work alot harder at it. But I will say this, I get alot less flack now from my fellow riders about my banshee than before my first race. All in all it comes down to the same two things everything else in life does, comfort... and money, what do you like and what can you afford. 4 strokes riders swear by theirs, and 2 strokes swear by theirs. Who knows, if my first quad had been a 4 stroke, maybe I'd be completely left winged, but thank goodness I wasnt because my banshee is just way too much fun  .
  6. I dont talk trash, and I'm not trying to start anything. I just want to see XC grow. According to the weather channel, we are considered southcentral (link), and you are considered southeast. But anyway, I still dont believe the banshee has outlived itself yet... the time is coming soon, but not yet. I also believe 4 strokes with certain pipes are overly loud and hard to ride behind. An invitation to anyone who wants to try out our series in oklahoma. Most races are in central OK and in the Tulsa area. So ppl in southeastern kansas southern missouri and northern arkansas can get in on some too. The more the merrier!
  7. I live in the south, how about you hit up one of our races? www.occra.com
  8. Thats one of the main turn offs for me and the 4 strokes. I hate how loud they are. They are plum annoying when I'm passing them on the track.
  9. Another thing you might want to consider(althought some wont agree with me), is what your aftermarket pipes are suggested to run with. Mine (DMC Aliens) suggested the boyeson reeds and they work great. I just forgot to mention that above.
  10. I agree. I've ran them for 3 years now on rejetted stocker carbs. I used them mainly in my XC racing and the low end torque was phenominal compared to the stock reeds. I almost NEVER used 1st gear as it was extremely torque and after 2 hours on a quad would try to jerk it out of my hands. I'm rebuilding the motor right now and I'm putting on a 2 into 1 34 mm Keihin PJ and I'll let you guys know what I do next. I know the reeds are getting old and its about time to replace them so if they seem to run good I'll get another set and if I'm adventurous I'll go for the VF3's. I'll give some feedback when I do.
  11. Here is a good question for you guys, what kinda of bolt can I replace the stock clutch spring bolts with? I know they are all metric but are regular metric bolts safe to use? I've twisted the head off 3 of my stock bolts and I'm tired of trying to twist the broken bolts out. I want to put a stronger one that is safe to set in the oil. I did use regular ones that matched pitch and length but I want to make sure they were ok in there.
  12. Haha, so I've noticed. Thanks (and man you guys are fast on the reply's )
  13. Just wondering if the arcade was for premium members only. I tried to play and it said I didnt have access so I was just wondering. Thanks
  14. Interesting, I've never heard that before and I'll have to try it out. I use the EBC EP Race Kevlar clutch plates with a set of factory Yamaha plates. I'm not sure what they are off of exactly(I think it off of the old bike the shee motor came off of), but they are about 50% thicker than the stock. They ran me about 80.00 shipped from www.sandtrax.com. Lonnie will hook you up with anything and everything you need for your banshee. Everything he sells he has tried and dyno tested himself.
  15. whats the run differance between leaded and unleaded? any performance gains or losses with either?
  16. Ya basically. Think of it like water and butter. when its cold the butter will clump up and. but when the water is heated up it will melt and be a liquid just like the water.
  17. Its not that it always seperates, but any thing ester based (castor oils) will seperate in cold weather. Thats why I run a synthetic during the winter and use the castor during the summer. I like the lubrication better with the castor.
  18. I use Bell-Ray's MC-1 in cooler weather b/c synthetic wont seperate like castor(ester based) oils will. During the summer its Maxima's Castor 927. I use a 12.8 oz to about 5 gallons (I round off to the nearest dollar when filling up my gas).
  19. Here is the trinity page and the carb I'm looking at getting. How come if its not any good, they areng puting a pj on it? CV Setup
  20. Get me some pics and I am very interested in working out a deal depending on condition of parts.
  21. I'm just wondering what the difference is between the CV and PJ carb? Which would be better in a single carb setup? I'm looking to buy one in the next week and just wondering the difference.
  22. Sadly and as bad as I hate to agree with these guys. Its true. I on the other hand race XC on my banshee and the only real problem I have is heat disipation. Slower section will heat them up in no time. If its all you have, then there is nothing wrong w/ racing them. They are a good reliable easily maintained quad. I personally can not stand the way the yfz or the 450r's sit. I hate feeling that high and like I'm about to go over the bars. I will ride my banshee til shee craps out on me and can never be rebuilt. But if you get the chance and you like the bike, its a good idea to switch to a 4 stroke. There is no sub for the low end torque of a 4 stroke. The main thing I did to make mine more ridable in XC was suspension. I'm running stock width (b/c the narrowness of the banshee gives you a considerable advantage over 4 stroke width) with elka elite's up front and a rebuilt stock on the rear until I can afford an elite rear and linkage.
  23. Just wondering if you ever got any pics up. I race XC and I have a heat problem in the woods and I need something that will help keep me cooler until I can hit a faster section. Most of our tracks there are very few 1st gear sections but they still can wreak havoc if your stuck behind an inexperienced rider for any length of time. I'd love to be able to get your # so I could call and talk about the setup to get the exacts. If you dont mind me callin, drop me your # in my inbox and I'll give ya a ring. You can kinda walk me through the exacts. Season starts in 2 weeks so I gotta come up w/ something before the warmer months get here.
  24. Who in oklahoma does a reliable port for xc and about how much would it run. I race on the weekends as a hobby on a college student income (which isnt much  ) and most ports I've seen are around $200-500. If I could find it for around $100-150 and someone that could get me in and out really fast, I'd love to be able to get it done. I'm more than likely going to be getting the 35m single unless there is a way to tune down the 38m to where it will work with my motor as it is right now.
