  1. Magic Racing is about 15 miles from my house. They stock EBC and Barnett.

    Both are 89 bucks...

Toomey is a few bucks more, and shipping...I love Toomey products, I just hate paying their shipping rates.

I would probably put stock back in..but, here's the deal. I'm sure the stock plates and springs are 15 to 30% more money. Plus, I hate going to the dealer...

So...I'm just gonna get me a Barney...soak er...and ride. I'm quite sure if a stocker held up this long, a barney 'll be fine...

  2. Alrighty...you guys aren't making this easy...

Stock bore, stock motor. Porting later this year.

T5's, Toomey/DynoJet kit, K&N Pods and Boyesen Reeds. So...it's not a high horsepower machine, and I might go to the dunes once or twice this year tops. Mostly going to be a trail bike with friends....

It's a 96 with stock in it now...ORIGINAL stock. But, the motor was out for 5 years...so, realistically it's only got about 4 years of use or so...

Gonna ride today, see how it feels. If anything...I think I'm gonna go Barnett from Magic...less than a 100 for the kit.

  3. Out is leaner, in is richer. Banshees stock carbs have air screws.

Air screws are always located behind the venturi of the carb.

Some carbs have "fuel" screws". they are in front of the venturi. On Fuel Screws...it's opposite. In to lean, out to richen.

honestly...there are two places for information I've found invaluable...and instead of re-writing all that...check out the Pinned section in the top of this forum.

Also...check out this link. It is simply fantastic...!!

  4. Yep. Gently...very gently. When you screw it in, and it's "snug", stop. Don't force it.

    Then count turns out.

No problems...I'm new to the jetting specs on banshees...with mods and what not..but, been after a while it's all the same and a good learning experience.

  5. Just got done sorting similar out on mine. 280 sounds about right...but, what are the pilot jets set at?

Stock might not be flowing enough...which are 25.

I'd bet you ned 27.5 Pilots, and then adjust the air screws somewhere between 1.0 to 2.5 turns out...all depends.

    Needle in 3rd clip?

Stock carbs...K&N Pod filters/Boyseen Reeds and T5's on mine.

    I have 290s now...but, it also 35 to 40 right now...(actually colder at this second...and snowing..>:)

Try the old choke trick. When it's warmed up...pull the choke 1/2 way out, first click. Run better? Pilots/air screw too lean.

    Bog down...Pilots/Air Screw too rich.

I feel your pain. I just went through the same thing. I've almost got the bottom end cleaned up...very very close. I think my air screws are at about 1.5 to 2.0 out right now...

  6. Pyramid as in Boyseen cages?

I've always read VForce are the way to go...

So...you're saying a nice Noss with 20 or 21 domes will be better?

I would like to stick to Premium Pump, and not have to run booster or race gas.

How much would that be affected by going to 20 or 21 (I think 22 is stock, right?)

  7. You all have helped me considerably, between exhaust and jetting...my shee is ripping.

Good enough to take my bud's 450R with mods 3 of 4 times yesterday...:)

    Now...the next step.

I have both K&N Pod filters and the UNI 2 into 1 kit w/ outerwear. Since I didn't notice a bit of difference in power yesterday when switching from one to the other...I just say I have a spair when one or the other gets dirty...:)

NO airbox, needless to say. Toomey T5's just put on.

I'd like just a little more bottom to mid before the arm stretching comes out to play.

So...my next questions. VForce 2 or 3 reed set. Bone stock motor...plan on porting end of this year.

And...with the VForce...should I get reed spacers or just the reed cages?

Next year...or, later this year...going with a different ignition box and a NOSS head.

Then...probably Vito Pistons (not super stock) end of this year...or over winter.

So...reed type, 2 or 3, and spacers or not is the question. I just thought I'd mention my future Mod path, since I know that plays a part in suggestions.

    Thanks!!!

    *Edit*

    Oh...and my jetting:

    27.5 Pilots

290 Mains (it's 35 to 40 Degrees here, will go 280 for summer)

Air Screws I've been adjusting from 1.0 to 2.5 turns out...not quite perfect.

This thing rips up top, light chocolate perfect plugs...and starts very very easy warm or cold. I know the jetting is almost 100% spot on...

  8. Yep...been reading up on this.

I fully intend to give 'er the workover soon.

I swapped emails a few times with Stuart Toomey, and I've come to the same conclusion.

Just need to get a jet kit from 'em now. All I really need is their needles...

I've got all the Mikuni jets I could possibly hope for using the stock carbs...

    Thanks for the reassurance....SuperD.

  9. Bought a boost bottle, for about 22 bucks. No biggie.

I've read they improve throttle response off the bottom...and they sure look cool.

Since I already have it...is it worth putting it on.

    My mods:

    Toomey 2 into 1 foam w/ outerwear

    Boyseen Reeds

And...after this weekend, T5's from a fellow BHQ member.

Next month...Vforce 2 Reed cages/reeds...(I've read the V2's are better than 3s...I think..:)

Should I bother putting the little chrome jug on?

  10. Thanks...Richy.

I plan on porting 'er after this riding season...so, I'm goin with the 5's.

Can't go wrong with Toomeys...and, as said...ANYTHING is better than the stock wheezers...

If I decide to keep the engine stock, which...I highly doubt. The 5's go on Ebay...and I bump up to the 6's....

I'm like a giddy little kid, either way...can't wait to pipe her. Hate the stockers...

  11. Anyone know of a chart comparison or dyno sheets of previous Toomey Pipe versions?

I'm convinced since I'm going the port/polish routine next year, T-6 pipes are not a good idea.

I've been looking at T-5s...and they're about 439. pipes and silencers in metal finish, direct from Toomey.

Found cheap T4's on ebay...and in decent shape.

How much more difference in T4's to T5's?

I'm dying to pipe it...I know how much it'll wake up. But, as anyone else, I want the best bang for the buck...but don't want to shell out an extra few hundred for not much difference.

I'm sure there is someone here that has progressed with Toomey...from original up to their current T6...any help out here?
