1. Interesting find...Fixit.

My only thing is...since he mentioned power for trail riding...the truck/camp isn't always so close.

You're gonna suck down some serious juice with those babies on...

I plan on keeping the carbs stock, with possibly boring them to 28mm...at most.

  2. so stock fibers and barnet hardware  :headbang:  Cool!!!

    Do they have a website.

    351299

Yeah...he said they had 100HP shees holding up with this clutch. Recommed using all 6 springs, and you're gonna have to have an ez pull lever, which...I already do.

Since mine isn't putting out half of that....YET....I'm sure I'll be good for a while.

Again, super nice guy...and very, very knowledgable!

  3. Yep...sure did. Said I was the 2nd or 3rd person you recommended call today...what kind of kickback you gettin...anyways? :)

    :D

Told him you and stclark told me 'bout him.

    I assume that's your bro?

Also...he said...you talk to Tyler on Banshee HQ. Was a big yep...sure did...

Told him to head over here and drum up some business....

Can't wait to get this in...

Always good to hear about good guys, good service!

    :headbang:

  4. Super duper nice guy.

    Thanks so much, Tyler....

According to him, he is using stock factory FZR 600 Fibers, Barnett HD Springs and steels.

    95.00 plus shipping.

Also got some Engine Ice to cool the lad...one bottle will be enough...17.00.

He also gave me some tips on the clutch, what to look for...and to look at the shift star, etc.

Also tips on "burping" the air out of the system when putting in the "ice".

Thanks again...Tyler. I will most definately be doing business with FAST Racing again in the near future...

    :notworthy:

  5. You're really trying to do something a Banshee isn't designed to do.

You can get good bottom, but it'll sign off top a little more.

You can get Phenomenal top...but, low will lack.

The purpose of this site is help one another, shard mods, stories, ideas...and friendship...not to try and accomplish the impossible..:)

I'm not trying to get you down or discourage you...but, you're asking for a lot of bottom and at the same time keeping a screaming top end for drag racing...

Bigger carbs will help top, so will drag style pipes. But, then...if you get a low end/mid end port job, your not getting the most of the pipes and carbs you just bought. See what I mean?

You're going to have to make a compromise somewhere, that's all I'm saying!!

There are several reputable porters out there.

    Passion, Eric Gorr, Trinity...etc.

    Talk with each of them...

  6. i recently replaced mine with a tusk kit.  working great so far.  i knew it needed replaced, but i didn't realize just how much my shee was slipping till i redid it.  i've heard nothing but good things about tusk products, and the clutch kit was only about $35 from rocky mtn.

Too bad RMATV is the only place you can get 'em, short of getting ripped for one on ebay.

They've been out of stock for almost two weeks now....

As Tyler said...I'm giving Fast Racing a call today about the street bike setup!!

  7. You can't move it.

    A mod (Moderator) can...

You can try sending a PM to one of the mods...asking them. Or...chance it they run across this and do it for you.

If you look at the different forum areas, at the bottom of the description you'll see "Led by". those are the particular moderators for the forum....

    Good luck!!

  8. Switched throttle cables, as in left to right?

That shouldn't change how the bike runs at all. It might idle higher...if the cable is being pulled...but that's about it.

There is a little tube that goes from one carb to the other. It's part of the idle speed fuel enrichment/choke mechanism. Make sure that tube, probably about 2 1/2 inches, is connected to the carbs and sealed.

This might sound dumb...but how dirty is that air filter.

Did you check all the TORS wires/connections?

Also...just for giggles. Close the Spark Plug gap to .020. See if it runs better at low to Mid RPMs.

If so...that indicates a stator problem.

Main jets won't help off idle. That's a combo of the pilot jet and air screw settings.

With those pipes...I'd get 27.5 pilots. 25 is stock. Make sure the needle is in the right clip.

Turn the air screws all the way in until they are GENTLY seated. No need to force them, they can be damaged that way. Count out 1 1/2 turns out from the fully seated position. Out is leaner...in is richer.

Just gotta have patience. I bought mine off a bud two months ago...jetting was all fouled up. I got mine darned close, if not dialed in and it took me about 4 to 5 trips to a local field and a whole lot of drag racing my buddies. well worth what I learned...though.

  9. Those Toomey kits are a little lean, IMO.

    Stock needles have

But...if 320s were that fat, I agree. Start with 280s...go from there.

    I'd get 270, 280 and 290 jets.

I'm in MI too. Most of the state is less than 1000 ft above sea level...a few spots from 1000 to 2000 ft.

make sure the needle is in the 3rd groove...too...

  10. I also checked stator and that read 19 ohms so that is fine

the problem started when my buddy loaded it up to bring to my house, loading it and everything else it ran fine, would running out of gas do anything?

    349883

How many grooves are on those needles?

Stock needles have 5 grooves. 3rd groove would be correct.

The Dynojet kit that comes with the toomey's has 6 grooves. 4th groove would be correct (counting down from the blunt end.)

You really need to get new plugs, I'd buy 3 sets of them. they're less than 2.00 a piece at AutoZone.

I'm running NO airbox, K&N filters, Boyesen Reeds and T5s. Slightly above sea level.

310 Mains. 27.5 Pilots and 1.5 to 2.25 out on the air screws.

Does it still have the TORS on it? If so, I'd check all the wire connections, making sure one of the wires isn't bare/shorting out.

Next...make sure there are no air leaks at the carb/intake/crossover tube/air filter boots...

You mentioned running out of gas. Now's a good time to remove each carb, clean it good with compressed air and a fine strand of wire. remove the pilots and mains too...clean those passages. If you sucked in some dirt...from running out of fuel, the smallest speck of dirt can play havoc on your jetting.

I accidentally ran mine out of gas...first ride this year. Fouled one plug...bike ran like crap...till I filled 'er back up:)

Luckily, I was only 50 yards from the truck...

Oh yeah...what kind of oil and ratio are you using?

  11. Live in MI myself, Metro-Detroit area.

Stock carbs, K & N clamp ons (Pods), Boyesen Reeds and Toomey T5s.

I can't promise you my jetting is not 100% perfect...but, it's darn close. VERY close.

I run 310 Main, 27.5 pilots. Toomey/Dynojet jet kit needles in the 4th clip (these needles have 6 grooves instead of the stock 5 groove needles)

Air screws have varied lately...you know it was 40s two weeks ago...today, upper 60s. That's MI for you.

I've been going from 1.5 to 2.25 turns out on my air screws.

Also...make sure your floats are at 21mm...

  12. Maybe...

    Could be a combo...

    Leaner on the needle.

Adjust the air screws an possibly richen the pilots.

You might get better help if you ask a mod to move this to the exhaust/jetting forum.

When I got my shee a few months ago...jetting was all hosed.

My specs are in the sig.

I followed this article as a guideline. I wouldn't say it's 100% correct, nor are they claiming it to be. But...it most definately get you in the ball park...

  13. Probably too late now...but, at work tomorrow...I'll give him a call...printed this out for reference and the nubmers!

If he can do it for 95 or 100...that's a steal...

I'm getting tired of "Close" racing with my 450R buddies....gonna clutch it, see how much better it is, then...probably Eric Gorr or Passion Port job sooner rather than later. Been picking up a ton of side jobs, so...gonna get it done while I got the cash...

Where is Jeff @ Fast Racing located?

Thanks a bunch for the lead...I greatly appreciate it...loco!

  14. Bubba's got more natural talent and speed than anyone I've seen in years...possibly since Jean Michele Bayle....

Outdoors maybe a different story....Bubba is riding the 250, last I heard. RC is going to ride the 450, since Tortelli is doing all the R&D work on it right now...a la...making sure it'll hold up.

They're coming to Pontiac this weekend...my area. Can't wait...

If you remember, RC's first 2 years on a 250 were rocky at best. Then...he came alive.

MC was the indoor master...but, no one can dispute RC is the outdoor king. I don't know if Bubba can even pull off a perfect season, let alone 2.

It's really too bad there haven't been too many good races in the past few years. Back since MC...it was pull the holeshot, and checkout. Boring to watch.

I still love the old Bradshaw/Stanton days. Banging bars, brake checking...and the whole lot. Those were good races.

I'd love to see a good slam 'em and hand it to em race with RC, Bubba, Reed and K-Dub.

I've been an RC fan since his first race, wearing #70 on the Kawi...

Can't stand Reed. He's just...bland. MC always had a cool attitude and knew what to say. RC is getting better at his speaking...

If Bubba stays healthy and keeps the rubber side down, he's going to break the indoor record. Gonna have to wait and see for outdoors...

Nothing against Bubba....but I hope RC turns it on and whips up on 'em in Pontiac this weekend...The flying red freckle needs a break.

  15. OK...why not just use a Banshee Thumb throttle with the correct cable (the ones MotionPro sells for TORS elimination)?  :shrugani:

    349955

The only cable I could find from Motion pro is for twist. I already have their twist, and it will not work with the thumb.

Could you send me a link or part number for Motion Pro's thumb throttle cable to work without the TORS? After looking at my cable, it's pretty beat up at the end, don't think I wanna put that back on when I switch.

You put on a Honda thumb throttle basicaly because it cuts the pull in half, effort wise...not throw wise. Here's that great write up:
