  1. I run 150s in my cub, 50 pilots (Still a tad rich on the pilots)....CEL needles. I'd go down to a 160 and see if it gets better....that's not a 1 into 2 carb setup, is it?
  2. I think my cub is setup at .050, if that helps. My cub was uneven at the deck and top out of the box...so, it had to be blocked up. Mine runs two base gaskets....
  3. Yeah, Shearer pipes, twin 35PWKs and a cub motor? Bottom end doesn't exist. You could bump up the compression, advance the timing to 7 or 8 ( I run a ton of timing on mine) and switch to a 1 into two carb, 35PWK or 38PWK...that will pick up the bottom a little. But then again, as said...a cub has drag port timings from the factory. You really only need a clean up port OR clean up and raise the exhaust a little tiny bit. Mine is cleaned up only. I'd like to see a picture of your porting...the out of the box porting on these cubs are a piece of art work! I'd almost bet they only cleaned it up....removing casting flaws and shavings.
  4. First off, you are getting the wrong pipe period. For two reasons. Big Bore pipes are designed for large motors, big pistons and a 7mm or larger crank. Second, it's a drag pipe. NOT what you want for trails and track. Get some Toomey T5 pipes or FMF fatties. DMC and Pro Circuit offer good trail pipes too. If you don't ride in a lot of water/mud, then remove the air box lid, drop in a K&N Filter and get a pro design pro flow kit. Without the lid on, you'll need the kit to seal the filter to the air box properly.... The pipes listed above are cheaper than big bore CPIs. Stock steel sprockets are fine, it's the junk factory chain that wrecks them. I like RK and DID X ring chains personally....
  5. This is going to sound dumb...and maybe it's up in this thread elsewhere... swap pilots, carb to carb. See if that helps. Also, I get a strand or two of speaker wire to really clean out the small passages as found in the pilots....I'd try that as well. Just off the TOTAL cuff.... What is your spark plug type, heat range and gap set to?
  6. It could be a sealing problem, too... But, I'd agree...if you swap coil leads and it does NOT follow the lead, it's fuel or mechanical...
  7. In the rain...often, no doubt... I just switched on call time at work...so barring death or dismemberment, last weekend of Oct. I'm in. We'll probably leave early Thursday morning...get 1/2 a day Thursday, all Friday and all Saturday in for riding! Need to all figure out a meeting spot before we get up there!
  8. I'm sure we can crash a campground party...then head back to the hotel... Last time I was up, early this season...my shee never made it out of the parking lot....so, my best friend was Al. Al Cohol that is....
  9. Well...hold on a sec!! Keihin jetting is different than Mikuni. It might be 1 to two sizes on Keihin...but, you'll be safe either way!!
  10. I have no problems there. We usually stay at a hotel. Of season you can get a room for 3 nights for usually under or around 100 bucks. For a warm bed and hot shower....I'll take it!! I can't think of the name of the place...but it's close, clean, cheap!! They send me a few post cards every year with their specials and rates...
  11. You can Ohm test the stator and coil, specs are in your Clymers manual... If everything checks out...time to look for an air leak...
  12. Last year JT....last weekend of the year (last weekend in October) is when we met 1st time, I think...wasn't it? there was some fast stuff there!! It's not like a holiday weekend or opening weekend...but, it's pretty darned fun. Too many dipshits on holiday weekends for my taste. Planning a trip for the finale weekend, should be nice and cold and night...keeps the beer cold longer!! Who's in?
  13. Depending on your porting....you're ballpark..but a little lean I'd say. throw 280s in there...see what that does.... I'm taking you mean your temps to be Celsius....right? Put a 280 main in, MAKE sure your carbs are sync'd too, then go do a proper plug chop. http://www.dfn.com/benkaren/plugchop.html By chance, do you still have your TORS on the bike? Electrical can cause a pop, too...and TORS are almost always the culprit...
  14. 1. 8.59? can you list the items and pricing involved with them? When I went to build one, I went to HOme Depot, Lowe's, Ace, Aco and a hospital supply store (air pump ball) and it cost me 30 or 40 bucks... I can't buy 4 rubber plugs, a low pressure gauge and an air pump for that cheap.... Sounds dumb....but, you didn't use a gauge with a check ball in it, did you? If so...the test is not valid. To make sure there's no check ball, with the engine pressurized, remove a spark plug. If it fizzles down, the test is good. If it stays at the PSI...you need to remove the check ball... 2. Start checking the stator and coil. A clymers manual will give you ohm (resistance) specs. David Keith, a member here...just sent all his electrical to Ricky Stator. They will test it free...and even put it on a known running good banshee if they pass the bench test... That water came from somewhere.... It can't be condensation because it would be in both pipes... Sucked in from a trail ride, bad coolant seal???
  15. I agree...X Ring is the way to go. I got both of my chains (Gold Xring and regular X Ring) from Jeff at Fast.... He sells it by the foot, give him a holler...
  16. Fine...fine...you're just going to have to PM them to me and Kai....let us be the judge...
  17. Front shocks still up for sale... Stock Swingarm and Skid plate still for sale Ignition Coil still for Sale... Rear Tail Light still for sale.
  18. MX or dune port would be best for your application... No builiders that I know of in Canada...but I'm sure someone here can chime in and list a few....
  19. Yeah, I got two or three just a laying around. I'll throw in a Victoria Secret model for free... Comes a time when you realize you just need to clean out the garage...and I'll never put lights, these ignition parts, shocks or stock swinger back on this bike...
  20. Brookie...since you were very sincere in your words...I'll leave that one be... :yelrotflmao: Always good to get advice from the other side of the fence as well. Brooke...some self photos might help ease his pain a little...
  21. 200 main is probably about right, maybe a little rich for a 2 into 1 setup. I've been told and read they like a much larger main than a 2-2 setup. IF it is jetted correctly for sea level, pickup a 190 and a 195.... Always try rich and work your way down...
  22. Go big or go home and 2-1 carb setup don't belong in the same paragraph... lol I think you're confused on the rings...bored out a few sizes. You MAY be able to lightly hone the cylinders and replace the rings...if the cylinder to piston clearances aren't to great. If they're too big, a new piston(s) is required when you go with a bore. So....if you want to go big... How much is your budget is the next question... While the cylinders are out for a fresh bore job, now is the time to get them ported. However...as said, you want to get the crank checked and possibly fixed first. That could easily cut into your porting funds.... All the porting in the world don't mean squat if you lockup a crank...
  23. Sorry a day late...happy birfday yo.... By the way, today is Monday, September 18th, the year is 2006...and the president is George W. Bush. Your name is Stephen Clark... If you had the kind of party you should've had last night....the above will be pertinent information when speaking to police, the judge...or the homeless guy trying to have his way with you....that you passed out with/next to last night...(although...his name might be Tyler...)
  24. It comes down to.... we can all give advice, but...you're going to do what you feel is right. I think you've done that. There is a fantastic line in the movie Heat (DeNiro, Pacino, Kilmer, etc.) DeNiro tells Pacino.... I never get attached to anything I can't walk away from in 10 minutes flat if I feel the heat coming around the corner..... Yep, it's cold...but, for some people it just works. You've got to do what's right for you. Vent and talk with your brothers and sisters here...this is your support group. But, it's all on you in the end!! Good luck...Kai...
