  1. I have a 2000 Banshee that is mostly OEM, I took apart the top end and measured it, it is 64.50. I brought it to a local shop to check out, he recommended I just buy a new 64.50 top end kit and he would hone it. Top end kits are pretty expensive and I want to do the rebuild right, should I take his advice or should should I go up a size and get it bored to match the new pistons. If so, which size would you have it bored to 64.75 or 65.00?
  2. I think with a few 2 stokes racing in these Supercross races it is a great opportunity for 2 stroke lovers to make some noise and get excited about it. These guys have next to no chance but its nice to see the buzz it is creating and I hope members on here as well as any 2 stoke lovers will email the AMA, the manufacturers and continue to create a buzz on the forums. Its a long shot but our only hope if we would like to see a new 2 stoke on showroom floors in our future. Who knows, maybe Yamaha will come out with a 2013 Banshee...haha.
  3. I just donated $20, what the hell, love seeing 2 strokes again. http://apps.facebook.com/fundrazr/activity/2ed85b5f7a3f41ad9381a39248f4a6dd?psid=ec2434574a5042ea94016f6362199ada&ref=nf
  4. I still don't think they should get that much of a displacement and HP advantage. A stock 2011 YZ450 has 52.4 HP, no way a 250 2 stroke competes with that, especially one with early 2000's technology compared to 2012 4 stroke technology. The AMA rule was not set up to have competitive balance but to make the 4 stroke superior and eliminate 2 strokes because the big 4 wanted to sell 4 strokes. I'm not the type of person that says 4 strokes blow, they just arn't for me and I would like to have the option to buy a new 2 stroke if I want to. I like the fact that they are easy to work on, make lots of power per cc, are lighter and less complex, the way they sound and smell.
  5. Please explain, are you saying that a 4 stroke gets nearly double the displacement advantage because the 2 stroke makes so much more power per CC? Here is a quote from MXA, "It didn’t get there by virtue of its power per cubic centimeter, power per pound or power per dollar. Nope! Without the AMA four-stroke exemption rule of 1998, the modern four-stroke would still be defined by the Honda XR600." 2011 YZ250 2 stroke 43HP @ 8500, 30.6 TQ 2011 YZ250f 4 stroke 36HP @ 11300, 20.1 TQ They both weigh 227 lbs wet according to Yamaha's site. Ever hear the statement there is no replacement for displacement? It should be 250 vs. 250 and 450 vs 450.
  6. This is a email I sent to AMA, I'm sure they won't read it, but worth a shot haha. Everyone should email them, stir things up a bit. I saw that some riders have been racing on 2 strokes. Why do 125's compete against 250 4 strokes and 250 2 strokes against 450 4 stokes, doesn't seem fair that they are competing against bikes with nearly twice the displacement. Are 2 strokes that superior to have a 125cc or 200cc disadvantage?
  7. One baby step at a time...haha. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Ryan-Smith/111126358205
  8. I could prob weld a bracket onto it to hold a vise grip, good call!
  9. I'll prob put it on ebay for a couple hundred unless one of you guys wants it. haha.
  10. The guy I bought this off was a true cob job artist. I got a good deal though and its starting to look a lot better, first thing I bought was a new kicker haha. Here is the quad when I brought it home, see the cob job weld on the bracket for the stock heel guards? Only paid $1400 for the quad though.
  11. I bought a 2000 Banshee a few months ago that I am in the process of fixing up. It came with this kicker on it. Not only will it start your quad but if you need to work on it in the trail or on the track you have a socket, does it get any better than that?
  12. Its the boost bottle! I spent $26K on mine but mine is polished.
  13. I have a 2000 Banshee, I am installing new Wiseco or Vitos 64.5 piston and rings, Toomey T5's, K&N Pods with outerwares (no airbox), VForce 3, stock carbs with a twist. I run VP C12 and I live in Western Mass (about 1000'). What is a good starting point setup on my carbs?
  14. I am ordering new pistons and rings 64.5. I can get either Vitos SuperStock or Wiseco Pro lite kit for the same price. Wiseco makes the pistons for Vitos correct? Are these the exact same? or should I get one or the other?
  15. Remove the rubber cushion spacers all together? What does that do removing them?
  16. I'm putting a new clutch in my 2000 Banshee. When I am putting the first clutch fiber on I can't get it to slide over the cushion spacer. Will this be a problem? or will it seat properly once engaged.
  17. Not as high as I thought. He offered to sell them to me for $400 shipped but I went with used Lonestar instead. http://www.ebay.com/itm/330660945245?item=330660945245&viewitem=&sspagename=ADME:X:RTQ:MOTORS:1123&vxp=mtr#ht_500wt_1236
  18. And the reserve is prob pretty high. I bid on these a month or two ago, they went pretty high and never hit reserve.
  19. I think the Raptor plastics look awful on the Banshee. I don't really like the looks of the Fullbore either. I have Maier on my TRX250R and they fit great and look very similar to stock. Stock fits great but you have the ugly labels and holes for the plastic heel guards.
  20. I don't have the gap, if anything mine gets too tight. When I tighten the axle nut by hand, my axle doesn't spin freely. I am going to make sure my bearings are seated all the way as someone here suggested that maybe the spacer in the carrier is restricting the bearings when I am tighening it.
  21. I greased it, but they are sealed bearings, what good does the grease do. Must be that the bearings aren't seated all the way...
  22. I think it's on right, going by there instructions (that suck). Just don't understand why my axle spins with so much resistance with the axle nut just hand tight. Can someone who has a G-Force or Tusk axle look at the pics and tell me if the install looks right? New Bearings, Seals, OEM bearing spacer and Tusk Axle.
