yes- snowmobiles are very reliable - why didnt they do this to quads? no idea
by the way - my snowmobile had the injection system taken off
the reasons that they didnt do any of this stuff:
why didn't they put nicer shocks? - save $
why didn't they put electric start? - save $ (who wants to pay for a battery, cables, and starter?)
why didn't they put a wider chassis? - most people leave banshee stock, and some still like to ride in woods, through trees, wider is more stable and higher speeds, but squeezing between trees is alot harder. top the top speed of a stock shee, the factory a-arms are fine.
why didn't they put on powervalves? - it would be too fast then - just like the yfz450, they 'detuned' the engine from the yz450 dirtbike, which has 10 more hp stock. Yamaha didnt want lawsuits like the old quadzilla, which was why it was discontinued - too powerful.
why didn't they put on more aggressive tires? - stock tires are general use, can use them in mud, dirt, sand, gravel, water, and grass or asphalt. a sand tires performs well in 1 category, a dirt tire performs well in 1 category,... you get the point
why didn't they make a better air intake? - no F'in clue
