QUESTION FOR ANYONE AND EVERYONE
oldschool98 replied to demonspeeding42069's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
um pipes lighten your flywheel. definatly porting, bigger carbs, differant ingnition , well basically im a newb to the site and to my first shee. what i think would be the best place to start is to run through the mods section and read all the posts. thats what i have done and i now have alotta nice ideas and by next summer mine will be hell on wheels aswell. spend time on the site and as questions i have found that everyone here is more than willing to help. also read the jetting faq it has taught me alot about how my motor uses fuel and how to tell when it is running properly tuning in what you already have may help more than you know9not to say you havnt already done that im just sugesting) anyway i hope your build goes well as for me my most noticable mod was my fmf pipes and silencers try there with a set you like i think the cpi's and toomy's are pretty populer. -

everything i have ever seen makes me wana say lower gearing is the way to go but everone on the hq is gearing up i dont understand. please explain how gearing up is better in the woods. i am turning heavy tires and i was thinking of gearing down a lil from stock, maybe i dont have enough engine mods yet i dunno please explain. -
what are you guys running? i made a thread about the propegs with heel gaurds apparetly noone has them. oh well, i need to get nerfs and i would rather they had heel gaurds as my stock ones suck so whos got what?
-
thank you for replying in my mud tire post, and i did go with the mudsharks. they are sweet in the mud and even better in the snow. my good friend and riding budy has a 4x4 yamaha kodiak. i had to pull him out of a hole with my shee last weekend.these things hook up like no other!!!!!!!! i got mine in 21x12x9. i highly recomend them. by the way were are you located? i love the woods and the mud, im always looking for riding buddys. and yes i do run mudholes on my shee even though so many people tell me not to, i dont get it are those guys just afraid of getting dirty? haha anyway get the sharks you will be happy
-
thanks for the input guys i ended up going with the mud sharks and let me tell you they are rediculios in the mud and snow i luv them thanks for all the input

why doesnt it have a bill of sale or title? dont fall victim to what happened to 2001sstbanshee, he was sold a stolen bike and had to give it back, they did refund his money and he did end up with it in the end leagally through an impound lot but thats alotta hassle to go through. check out its back ground with the local authoritys. they will run a check on the seriel number to make sure it isnt stolen. it will help you out in the long run trust me.

i cut mine with the saw so i dont have all that dust. i also use the semi metalic pads. the best ones are usally for light trucks, they make them heavy duty cause they know people abuse the piss out of those little trucks, i also choose those cause they have a large surface area(ie bigger rotors than cars) but thats only when i have to pay for them, usally my buddy that manages an autozone near by gives them to me

bump still for sale im in northeastern ohio wakeman44889
-
they last 6 times longer because they arnt made of the same material. bike pads are softer , so u have to replace them more frequently and the aftermarket companys stay in buisness. and think about it your shee weighs in at around 3 to 4 hun right , a car weighs in at anywhere from 2 to 4 k the material in car pads has to be more durable due to its having so much more weight to stop. try it if you dont like it it doesnt really cost that much to do it once, and besides if it works out for you like it does me you will be amazed with the new found braking power and reliability you now posses.

bump come on guys i really need to sell her throw out some offers!
-
well i have to sell my banshee only after a month of having it(financial issues) so i figure i would list it. im in northeastern ohio 44889, its a 98 all new tires as of yesterday, new handle bars with 2 sets of grips, fmf pipes and silencers, boost bottle, new clutch, new head lights, custom grill. it retails in kellys blue book for 3200, i dont expect that but i would like to get some offers out there and see what the intrest is so pm me an offer and ill see what kinda deals i can work out. i have a few more pics and i can also take a detail pic if you have a request. so help me out guys somebody get a nice ride thats been a trail bike, no mx or hard beatings, this bike is clean.
-
yeah im also thinking the same thing any pics or pros/cons you guys could list would be great. is there a better +2 arm for 500 or under if not im gettin the sands!

trade for pocket rockket
oldschool98 replied to bansheeracer18's topic in For Sale - Parts & Accessories
what have ya got? i have a pocket rocket with a 58 cc race motor in it, none of that pussy a$$ weed eater motor crap i have about 350 tied up in it were are you located and whats up for grabs? -
well as far as thickness there are 2 ways to do it. no 1 a 9000 dollar bandsaw that stands 7 feet tall(we have one at work) and no 2 flip a belt sander on its back and sit there for what seems like days letting it ware away at them untill they are the correct thickness. be sure if you use the sander method make sure its the belt varity so you get a nice even layer cut off of the material

well i dont pay for the car pads so no money spent there and jb weld is around 4 bucks and will provide enough to do this 4 to 6 times and i only spent 30 minutes of my time to do it, as far as jb weld holding up it does an incredible job after they cure i will put them on and show the step by step between putting them on and going from as fast as i can to a dead stop in a very short distance i just hope it doesnt lock them up to bad on the road because i just put the new mudsharks on the back.

heres the stuff i used for the project

well basically we are carrying this over from the product reveiw section. for this i will use comen house tools instead of the bansaw and whatnot i described in the other thread. step one grind your old pad blanks to remove any left over pad material after that select your car pad to use for pad material remove the material by drilling out the rivets next cut the pad material to fit your blank next glue the fresh cut material to your blank you may have to cut the pad thick ways to make it thin enough for your aplication this only took me 30 minutes and commen house tools and jb weld. i have made these for evey bike i have ever riddin and the last easily 6 times longer than pads you can buy from your local dealer. if anyone has any questions feel free to ask, i'll be glad to help with the answers good luck and dont feel intimidated by the task at had, afterall some car brake manufactures use rivets to hold the pad others glue i prefer the glue
-
allright i think there may be a little desire to see the diy pads so give me a few and ill have the run down with pics i will post them in the banshee mod repair section as we wont be reveiwing a product we will be reveiwing a mod slash build up of sorts . post with pics soon to come
-
well i over heated my shee tonite riding in the snow so i was wondering what the best coolent to put back in it was?
-
make your own! i know this sounds crazy but it can be done . all that is required are a set of car pads your old banshee steel blank with no pad left on it some tools and a lil jb weld. i have made a set for every bike i have ever owned and they last eaisly 6 times as long as anything you can buy. i just got my shee about a month ago and it needs rear pads. if anyone would like me to do a write up with pics to show how its done let me know and ill post it its really easy and you dont have to be a rocket sientist to get r done all that is required is to drill the rivets that hold the pad material to the cars blank. after removed cut the pad into the right size to fit the banshee blank and yes the pad material will be exactly twice as thick as nessisary for a banshee or any other bike so u guest it run it through the ban saw and now u have to pieces half as thick . so after they are cut to the square size u need and also bansawed into to halves makeing them 1/4 inch thick instead of 1/2 all that is left is to glue your new pad material onto your old blank! use a c-clamp to hold it together over night. now i know what you are thinking why should i trust this crappy epoxy with my braking power well read the pakage its grindable tapable machinable it does become metel or a close facsimile if there is any one that would like to see the process with discriptions and pics pm me or just reply to this post and ill get them up here asap

so im considering getting these cause my bosses brother owns a shop and offered me items at cost if i do his stereo labor for half price(i work at an aftermarket audio shop) so who has these and what do u think about them? also who has some pics? and if anyone has a sugestion as to a nicer nerf with heel gaurd let me know and i wont put in the order to pro peg(it seems as though they set up a different jig every couple of weeks and make so many sets then tear down and start on another style, according to the call we made to them i have about 3 weeks to decide weather or not i want them, thats when the banshee size will run again)
