switch the wires around and see if the problem persist. if not it may be a bad cap or wire. good luck, this is a good way to tell if it is electrical or other when one clylinder is not running right.

You might want to try soaking the shaft with some Kroil penetrating oil. It is 100 times better then wd40. let it soak over night but usually a couple minutes works with this stuff. they say it penetrates 1 miiionth of an inch!!! good luck

did you figure out the spark problem yet????

i want to swap cdi and stator with my sons banshee but my plugs don't match up. What is the best way to switch th e plugs. I was going to just cut the wires about 3 inches above the plugs and solder them bach together and use heat shrink over the splices. Any better ideas out there??? Got to get my no spark problem figured out this weekend, driving me crazy!!!!

I want to convert to the newer type plug connectors seeing as we have three banshees in the family and mine is t he oldest and makes it difficult to switch parts. What is the best type connection to make when changing plugs?? Where is the best place to buy the connectors? thanks Ray

sorry for not getting back sooner, got called out for awhile. Unplug the stator plug (has four wires) and also the yellow and black wire that come out of the stator and the plugs are right below the filters. Set the ohm meter on the low scale and read between the yellow and black wire, which is the lighting coil. It should read .26-.38 but if it reads no resistance at zero it still may be ok. I have three shees and they all read at zero and the manual says .26 to .38 Next read between the red and green wires and it should read between 13.7 and 20.5 Next read between the white and red and the white and white and green, you should read between 94 and 120 this is the pick up coil these are the specs for a stock stator. If you read no resistance between the red and green then your stator is shot. let me know what you come up with Ray

Do you have access to an ohm meter???

Mine actually has a groove cut in it by the short pin almost to the 6 oclock position. Can't imagine the bearing outer shell being able to spin without seizing the bearing first. ray -

I tried to attach a pic but it says I don't have enough space to do so. I m not sure how to reduec the size to 756k. anyway the other three bearings have about a 1/8 inch nip, this one on the right side has only about less then 1/16th nip. I thank you for your time and info. Ray -

does anyone know if I put my crankshaft back together with an outer bearing pin that is almost missing, will it cause any damage?? I can't talk to local mechanic till Monday and was planning on putting my engine all back together this weekend for a trip next week. The bike ran fine this way before I took it apart. I had some tranny problems which is why it is apart. Any help please Ray

what causes oil dripping from silencers?
quadfever54 replied to quadfever54's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Maybe thats the problem, It runs great at the dunes, but between trips I like to start it up a couple times aweek , just like to hear her purr!!!! Maybe she loading up, run 50:1 amsoil, thinking about running the 100 to 1 at about 85 this spring. Don't really want to mess with the jetting since it has keihn carbs and was built by LRD from the previous owner. -
Im not sure if banshee has a metal head gasket or not. If it does you can re use it by doing the following:: Place it on the kitchen stove burner and turn it on high, let it heat up the gasket until it starts smoking and turns blackish, turn over and do the other side. then rinse under cold running water (use needle nose pliers or long tweezers) then use a scotch gaurd pad and clean it off and it is good as new. there is a term for thsi I believe it is called "aneiling" spelling? good luck my mechanic taught me this one when I had my slug warrior

what causes oil dripping from silencers?
quadfever54 replied to quadfever54's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
thanks for all the replys, I pulled off the silencers (cascades and was going to repack them. when i stood them on end the left side drained out about a couple teaspoons of black oil like substance. I would thind that if it was condensation it woud have a milky look to it. the left side seems to smoke more when it is idling or warming up. I repacked the old toomey t4 silencers and put them on and the left side still seems to smoke a little more then the right. could this be in the carb adjustments?? the bike runs strong and does not bog down. I will have to take it out for a run down the road this weekend and pull the plugs and see what they look like. I am not quite sure of the lingo from dnhyoung about doing a plug chop, could some one explain thanks again Ray -
what causes black oil to drip from my silencers. Is this from gas mix or maybe bad rings. I use amsoil at 50 to 1.
-
thanks, I finally got one out on each end which is all it takes. very sharp pick worked great on first one. alot of time on the second with very small sharpened flat screwdriver and pick at the same time. just like you said above thanks again

I mean the circlips that hold the bushings in place on the top and bottom of the shock
