  1. MAN!! I wish I'd done a little looking around BEFORE I bought a brand new one! I paid $5K for a NEW 2004! Wish I had bought an '02 with some mods for half the price! GET IT!! "ignorance hurts..."
  2. CONGRATS!!! Your gonna love it! I just got a brand new 2004 Banshee last month! I could have bought a 2005, but I saved several hundred bucks on the 2004. Same thing! Was still BRAND SPANKIN' NEW!! I'm LOVING it!! The More I ride it the more I want to Mod it!!! Is that a bad thing? This could get expensive... Not sure where you live, but keep in mind and Banshee 2003 or later my hit the "red sticker" issue... Honestly, I think I'd rather have bought a used Banshee in good shape that was already a little more raced out... But I didn't want to "inherit" anyone elses problems so I decided to go with a New one!! Anyway... Good luck with your new Ride!!
  3. If you're not changing the Carb tops or getting a twist kit or anything, there's not much point to it. TORS just shuts off the ignition in case the carb slides stick open even though you've let off the throttle. It's simply a safety measure to make sure you don't kill yourself when your stuck at WOT and you want to stop... But to answer your question.....YES. Simply disconnect all the wires and your good to go. 1)Disconnect both wires from the TORS carb tops. 2)Disconnect electrical wire from thumb throttle 3) AND Disconnect the TORS control unit behind the front left fender (under the front of the gas tank)!!!!!!!!!! This only disables the ignition kill feature when the throttle sticks...nothing else. Hope that helps!
  4. It's because all these new 4-strokers are like the newest "fad" or something... Everyone wants the newest, flashiest, expensive toy out there to say "hey, look at me." Just goes to show the don't know XHIT about them!! To allot of people that don't know any better, Banshees are just "old school". And honestly I guess they are...even a brand new Shee hasn't changed in years... Honestly though... I don't think the Shee is the issue... anyone that does not have a shee is gonna talk XHIT about one! We talk XHIT all day about the 4-pokes, don't we?! Not everyone has the same loyalty to Yamaha 2 strokes! I guess you can't blame them! Every one has there preference! But Shee's will always be BAD @$$!! There just not the "IN" anymore, so consider yourself in the ELITE!! Cool Shirt!
  5. Hey peeps! Not a "super special" trip or anything, but for any local boys (or girls) I MAY be headed to Dove Springs, CA on Thurs, Dec 23. I'll be taking some days off for the holidays anyway, so I figure I'd take one to ride my Shee! I'm probably coming up with Both of my brothers and a friend (2 bikes and 2 quads). Sorry, no room to haul up anyone else, but if your there I'll keep an eye out... More details later... just curious if anyone will be in the area...
  6. Just got my Shee 2 weeks agonad have been riding it like a madman... but never been to Dumont myself....YET... How is it? (Other than having to purchase that danged permit...) I'm only about an hour out. I'm sure It'd have to be worth the trip huh? I'd want to go with a few regulars to show me around, but I need to get my shee more "dune ready". It's almost completly stock now. (definatly need some paddles soon!!)
  7. I believe the problem with the Banshee reliability is really a problem with the owners (there are exceptions though...especially with second hand banshee owners). The more you "tweek" your ride the more care you have to take. For instance: I've heard of people changing the premix ratio rather than properly jetting it. Yamaha specs call for 24:1 premix. The more mods and more HP you add... the more critical it is for proper lubrication. You MAY....wouldn't recommend... but MAY get by on 30:1... and 40:1 is definately pushing it. Pro racers can handle 100:1 or no premix at all cause, they have the money to have their sponsors rebuild the engine every single race. You average Joe probably doesn't. Take care of Ur Banshee and it should last you a good long while. (granted... sometimes stuff brakes)But 9 times out of 10 its carelessness.... Me... I don't think I'd every buy a 4-poke! I've ridden many of them and if I had to, I'd build a new Banshee first. People wanna ride a 4-stroke... Let 'em. You like your Banshee...then keep it. Don't like fixing it...then stop riding it! Problem solved! And when I decide I need a "bigger ride" I'll just beef up my Banshee to 500 or 600cc. But that's just me!! WHATEVER you RIDE just have fun! That's the point anyway right!... 'nough said... I'm outta here!
