For Those Who Have Been To Glamis Recently.....
KEVPOPPAPUMP replied to KEVPOPPAPUMP's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Well some peeps on the ASA site have mentioned that the BLM officers are now certified to use the sound measuring equipment and have been prior to Halloween. I believe the ticket is $25 so getting one won't break me, but the new season pass fee will! Making sure every vehicle in camp has a pass seems to be what the BLM is most aggressive about and thats good! -
I have the Trail Tech lights that replace the stock biggies and light output seems similar at best.

Pro Circuits are about as loud as FMF fatties, not as loud as T5's, DMC's, or CPI's, and louder than stock -
Eventhough I like my Shee, 4 strokes have advanced so much in the last couple of years. If it happens, it happens! It couldn't be so bad having to ride a YFZ 450. 10 years from now you can tell youngsters a story: once upon a time when engines were 2 stroke.......

Cool deal! I'll bring the Hush Kit just in case but will run without it like previous trips. Glamis is the only place I'd run without it since there is no chance of causing a forest fire and there is noise 24-7. BTW I say this cause the new Hush Kits are available with a spark arrestor built in. This is cheaper than buying 2 seperate bolt-ons and noise is suppressed for those riding area near homes. -
Where is the riding area in Beaumont that many speak of. I am looking for different cool places to ride locally besides Gorman, Cal City, and Dove Springs. Do any of you So Cal guys have some cool spots you'd like to share? Glamis is great and I do go there but it is not local (i.e. under 2 hours).

For what its worth, I used to run a K&N/ProFlo combo but switched to foam. I have a tendency to over oil and K&N oil tended to clog the pilot jets causing my shee to die at idle. So if you do K&N just don't over oil.

Engine Almost Complete, Some ?'s
KEVPOPPAPUMP replied to KEVPOPPAPUMP's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
The only problem I can really see with the leakdown test is the exhaust plugs. I have bought 3 different 2 1/2" pairs (home depot, lowes, and autozone) and none fit correctly. Tried the plastic, galvanized, auto type, and the bottom plate doesn't fit striaght into the exhaust port. Dan at Patriot stated that 1lb a minute loss is acceptable. Is acceptable a bad thing that will lead to a 350cc time bomb? What should I do here? All my buddies with 4 strokes are riding and I've been out of commission for about 5 months now. -
At sea level with T5's and Toomey 2:1 intake, I was running 310 normally and 320 in Glamis and it ran tits! JFYI

bump anyone? -
I did the leak down test at 7lbs for 7 minutes and after 8 minutes, I had 1lb on the gauge. Is this acceptable? Has anyone sucessfully held 7lb for 7 minutes with no loss in vacuum? Also, is there any harm after sealing the case having the extra beading inside? I noticed some sealant on the crank after bolting the case up and I wiped off what I could see from the opening.

Countershaft won't seat correctly????
KEVPOPPAPUMP replied to KEVPOPPAPUMP's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I checked out the c clips and they're fine. The only doubt I have is the shift forks, but I took them off and put them on multiple times and they are exactly as Clymers instructs. I'll keep at it and if all else fails, look for brand new Patriot ported cylinders, matched case, DVF 2's, trued/welded crank, and new pistons on ebay! I am so ready to part this sum bitch out and buy a new YFZ 450 already! -
Countershaft won't seat correctly????

I have the kickstarter gear in a ziplock bag. The two shafts are the transmission mainshaft and countershaft. When I removed both shafts, no gears were moved nor any bearings removed. They are installed in the same setup they were removed except now they won't seat flush. -
Countershaft won't seat correctly????
KEVPOPPAPUMP replied to KEVPOPPAPUMP's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
The gears are aligned and seated as far as they'll go together; however, notice the gap. The half clips for countershaft are seated on the bottom half of the case as the Clymers manual instructs (One on big seal/bearing side and one on small bearing side) . There are no half clips on the top case half correct? -

Do you know where this part goes???
KEVPOPPAPUMP replied to KEVPOPPAPUMP's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
ok cool thanks -
I thought is was from inside the case or maybe around the clutch but I could be way off. It was placed in a ziplock bag labeled with a sharpie but dirty fuel covered hands rubbed the ink off so I don't remember where it is from. It is small: appx. 1/2" long by 1/4" wide Do you know???

I just spent the last 3 hours trying to get the countershaft to seat correctly with the mainshaft :x The gears between the mainshaft and countershaft are matched up but the countershaft won't seat all the way in the case, so the top case won't go on. I tried taking off the shift forks and reinstalling them and still the countershaft wont seat correctly. I even tried moving the shift drum around but still no fit. WTF is going on here? Anyone have any idea what I should do besides sell Banshee parts for scrap. SOOOOO frustrated since installing the trannie should take minutes not hours/days.

I heard Evolution Power Band tuning is now backordered till next year. So I guess twin Tornado air management inserts are going to have to do for now. Damm 60-70hp would've been nice but the Tornado inserts will give around 20hp
