hey all, been off here for a while as i sold my 02 Banshee last fall. however money is flowing again and its time to find a new project looking to buy a stock or mild modified Shee in good condition. not worried about cosmetics as much as it being mechanically sound. year doesnt really matter but id like something with A-arms not the J arms. looking for a strong motor and straight frame mostly. smaller stuff like tie rods, ball joints, sprokets, chains etc i plan on replacing anyways. anyone know of anything that fits this bill in the $1500 or so range?? id be looking to make a move on something in the next month or so. i am out on long island NY working for the summer so somewhere in the surrounding area would be preferable. please post back or shoot me an email or IM. thanks and im glad to be back here in the banshee community.

ceramic coating decrease in power?
DevilDriver replied to slowpokebanshee's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
ceramic coating like high temp paint RETAINS heat. does it retain enough to make a difference on a quad with an exposed engine? probrobly not. on cars and trucks it matters a bit more. even just a few degrees cooler can make a huge difference. on auto transmissions if you can drop the temp by even 10 degrees you will vastly prolong the life of it. hope this helped -
post soem results when you get them. was thinkin of messin with mine too. thanks

Runs good and slowly bogs and dies?
DevilDriver replied to Shee_Rookie's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
time for a top end. mine did the same thing with the same simptoms. my comp was about 80-90psi at about sea level. after the rebuild it was 155 and it started up within 5 kicks. you may be able to cheat and go with new rings?? but id just bore it .020-020 and put some new pistons in it. you wont be sorry. -
2004 DVX400 trade for 02 or newer Shee
DevilDriver replied to DV8DVX400's topic in For Sale - Parts & Accessories
DV8... check out my post in for sale. ive got a 2002 banshee im gettin rid of. id trade you possibly if you were interested. the top end is fresh rebuild about 2 months ago .040 over with Vitos super stock +6 hp pistons. this thing is definately fun. add some pipes and C YA. it runs and rips but i dont have a title thats why im selling it as "parts bike" anyways, check my post out and if interested drop me an email or a PM and we can talk more. thanks -
hey all, i just had some serious personal issues come up that require me to sell one of my toys. too bad the Banshee is it. 2002 Banshee blue plastics , no decals other than a vitos piston and snap-on tool sticker on the gas tank. top end was rebuild about 2 months ago bored .040 over and rebuilt with Vitos super stock pistons and rings. broken in properly. this thing runs like a beast. shee'll kick over 1st kick if its been runnin within a week. takes a couple if its been longer than a week or so. a modified air lid is the only other thing done to it. snorkel was cut off and a few holes drilled in it. E-brake has been removed and blocked off with a billet plate also. front tires are original with less than half tread and the rears are DirtDevils 22"tall 11" wide. it needs a set of rear swingarm bearings approx $35, and is getting due for a set of tie rod ends over the winter. the handlebars are tweeked ever so slightly lower on the left side then right by about 1/2". this quad was rolled before i owned it and was reassembled on a new frame. there is NOT a VIN number on the frame. thus i do not have a title for it. that is why i am selling it "as a parts bike". i bought it about 5 months ago and have wheeled the wee out of it this summer with no problems at all. runs like a beast and loves to throw sand. i ride on private land thats why i didnt sweat haveing a title for it. now, unfotrunately, i have to sell it. however, theres always room for a new project this winter. i also have a set of used Maxxis RAZRs not on rims that will go with the bike and also a set of +2" spacers and studs for the rear axle. that stuff will also come with the bike. im asking $2800 or best offer. i am located in Rochester, New York. i can deliver it within 150 miles from Rochester if your not local. email me at [email protected] with any questions or offers. thanks for looking.

need more bottom end throttle response
DevilDriver replied to DevilDriver's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
lol dude that was funny as shit. i didnt think i was whining. more an issue of being a broke ass not a cheap ass. i spent most my money buying it then rebuilding it. ok i ll buy some pipes and do the suspension work. as far as the 40 over on an 02 i dont know its history other then the second time i rode it the motor shit the bed. a piece of one of the rings came apart and scraped the cylinder wall. i could have gotten away with 20 over probrobly but why not just open it up a bit more. besides ive still got another bore out or 2 if i need it. by then i ll probrobly be resleeving for a big bore kit anyways. yeah it sucks that i had to dump money into it as soon as i got but but now i know exactly whats in it and how the insides look. considering ive only got about $2000 total invested for a 2002 banshee with a fresh 40 over top end, no wrecks, good plastics, etc i think im doin pretty good. now its just a matter of getting another $2000 to dump on the mods i want and then i ll piss on the 450. hmm wheres that credit card app. thanks for the input. -
ive got a 2002 banshee top has been bored 40 over and rebuilt with Vitos super stock pistons. i feel a bit more power but my friends on the 400exs with pipes and yfz 450s kill me out of the corners and on tight trails. its gettin to where im ready to dump the 410 pound banshee for a 350 pound honda 450 that pulls like a monster out of turns and on the trails. granted if i get any of them on a long straight away i can catch and pass them with no problem the 450 is close but enough lengh and i can get him. if i keep it i plan on a full exhaust in the fall FMF fatties or Gnarly some aftermarket reeds and possibly carbs. over the winter it ll get xtended A arms and dura blue in the rear shocks, etc , etc. what are the best mods for a banshe off the start line till it hits powerband?? thanks in advance for any suggestions

ok a couple quickies, does anyone know the size of the 2 jam nuts on the left side of the rear axle? second, the assembly that the rear sprocket bolts too has a slight amount of play. will re-tightening the 2 jam nuts fix this problem? third, my chain is in need of some adjusting, needs tightening. the adjuster bolts on the bottom are almost all the way in already. is it time for a new chain? or can i get away with taking out a link on the current one? sorry to lump everything into one post, just easier to trak and less room if their in one place. thanks in advance for any info you guys can provide.

got a 2002 Banshee, top end is bored .040 over stock with a set of Vitos forged super stock pistons. the airbox lid has been modified by cutting off the snorkel back to even with the edge of the lid itself. so now its an open oval. also it has 6 7/16" holes drilled in the baffle on the inside of the lid spaced evenly. other then those mods the bike is stock. stock air filter, stock exhaust etc. i know i should have upgraded but the top end was not n expected repair and money is tight. i will be doing a full exhaust and air filter and be re-jetting again but for now the nly mods are the bore and pistons, and the airbox lid. elevation is about 300-500ft above sea level. my stock jets in the carbs now are 200 would i be looking at about a 220 now? also do the new jets need to be the short stubby ones? or can i use the longer type/ just asking because a friend has the longer from rejetting his trx250r. thanks in advance for the help guys. i wanna rip this pig this weekend after a good break in

difference between stock and aftermarket silencers
DevilDriver replied to DevilDriver's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
hey guys, thanks for the input. i think i might have worded my question wrong. i mean the front half of the exhaust. from the cylinder to about half way down the frame. the front pipe. what is the difference in those compared to aftermarket? less restrictive? complete sets are over $500 for the pipes from cylinder heads back. i was wondering if i would still notice an increase if i used the stock front pipes form the cylinder back to half way down the frame and then put on a set of Fatties or something for the back half. would it help the machine breath better or should i just wait will ive got more cash for a complete system? sorry for any confusion. brainfart lol -
mod the airbox? 2 into 1? open element?
DevilDriver replied to DevilDriver's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
thanks for all the replys guys. i am a fan of K&N as ive used them on my trucks with good result for years. not sure if im gonna go with a full open element. we still do hit some water and sloppy mud around here so i thinkid be better off withb a modified airbox. cut that snorkel thing off and open the top up a little then drill a few holes in the metal on the inside. then put a K&N in there. something liek that should help it breath a little better while protecting from the water and slop. -
gonna be rebuilding the top end this week. bored .040 over, vitos power pistons, fmf fatty pipes. been debating abo0ut what to run for an air element. i like the idea of the 2 into 1 element but does it really do anything? was thinking of running an open element but like having the protection of an airbox. is there any mods to do to the airbox to improve flow? you guys like the UNI foam elements or the K&N? thanks for the input
-
im getting ready to put my top end back together this comeing up week and had an exhaust question. the motor is getting punched .040 over and a set of vitos power pistons are being installed. k&n/ uni filter will be installed. with these mods i want to let it breath too. i dont have the money for a complete exhaust system right now though. will using the stock silencers with aftermarket mufflers restrict the flow too much? obviously it wont be as good as ALL aftermarket components but it will help it breath better right? im looking at a set of FMF fatties. i plan on adding the after market silencers eventually but dont haev the extra cash at this time. think it would be ok?
-
just ordered a set of Vitos forged pistons today in .040 over that supposedly boost lowend and mid by +6hp. Vitos are supposedly just Wiseco pistons made to Vito specs, whatever that may be. i ve heard good about them not really much bad though, but theres 2 sides to every story as you know.
-
i was just gonna mention the Wetter Water. it will help drop temps by almost 10 degrees in some applications ive heard.
-
i just clean my filter in my parts washer then blow it out with compressed air and re-oil with 2 stroke oil. a K&N is definately on the immediate list of things to do. i think you can buy little bottles of oil for 1 gallon at a time mixes. when we refule we usually pull the bikes right up to the pumps and just watch the pump for an exact gallon. ive got a little waist pouch i carry my stuff in (wallet/cell/smoke(s) etc) you can get em for a couple bucks at an outdoor store or even walmart or something. HTH

got a dilema guys, need your advice.
DevilDriver replied to DevilDriver's topic in General Banshee Discussion
i did get it for a killer deal. i only shelled out about $1700 for it. the 3 wheeler i got for $500 and told him $1000 the gun was $800 and $400 cash. spent about another $150 on small stuff. so yeah i did get it cheap. a full frame up rebuild wa sin the plans but not till the fall/winter. now i just wanna get it runnin and ride the rest of the summer. i may just leave it as is till fall and find another frame. im usually on private property anyways so im not worried about cops. they would be the trespassers. thanks for the help.
