okay, this damn thing is really starting to piss me off. their can't be a clog in the petcock because when i unhook the gas line from the carb and turn the gas on, it pours out so their must be another problem. also, i took the plugs out and noticed that no the end of one of the plugs the metal piece that hangs out was broken off and hopefully it didn't do anything to the piston. have any of you guys seen that before? i put new plugs in it and it still doesn't want to start. i just rebuilt the damn thing and it isn't even running pleeeeez help
-
yea i put that new top end on. i am new to this technical stuff so what is a petcock? i'll have to get some more gas and see how it runs with a full tank. hey kyle you got that t-maxx running yet? i hope so cuz it's been a while. what do ya think of it?

yea i'm turning the black idle screw because a while back i was tightening it and i guess i tightened it too far and the head of the screw popped off and i have to rder a new idle screw. what do you have your air screw set at? (the brass screw you were talking about?) thanks guys. you are a huge help -
ok thanks guys. it happens right before i have to switch it to reserve and then when i switch it to reserve it doesn't run right. is that normal for reserve or not? i'm asking this becauseh when i'm on reserve it cuts out sometime and doesn't want to wind all the way out. is this normal or not? thanks guys.

hey guys i was wondering what jets you would recommend. i currently have a 185 main and a 48 pilot and i'm not sure what clip the needle is on because the 6mm nut head is stripped and can't get it off. that will be fixed when the parts come in though. my elevation is approx. 457 feet above sea level. dual fmf fattys. i ordered a 230,220,210 and 200 main and a 50 pilot. what clip would you guys recommend going on? by the way, i have the single carb. another thing, my idle screw is almost all the way in how do i raise the idle so i can' screw the idle screw out a little bit without lowering the idle? THANKS IN ADVANCE
-
hey guys i was wondering if it was suppose to sputter and stuff right before you run out of gas and have to switch her over to reserve. thanks guys
-
hey guys, i just found out today that my elevation is 457 to be exact, so hopefully you guys can work from that. i need to know exactly what jets i need to run, because i want this thing to run the way it should. just to be safe, i'd like to run her a little on the rich side. thanks guys.
-
sredish, i see that you have the same carb setup as me and we're about the same elevation. i may put a bigger main in because i see you have a 230 in there. what pipes are you running? i have fmf fattys. i'll get a 200, 210, 220 and 230 and see how that does. should i just swap out the 48 pilot and put a 50? what is your opinion? thanks
-
i just rode the banshee with the fresh top end rebuild and WOW is all i can say. before it was resleeved to standard and now it's bored .60 over with a 185 jet in it. i still have the 48 pilot and i may change that to a 50 and possibly move up some clips on the needle. which way do i go on the clips of the needle to richen it? i am not quite at 1000 sea level. what would you guys recommend, because i know it's WAY better to be rich than lean.
-
just put her back together and put a 185 main in. i am still running the 48 pilot and haven't moved the needle. it starts and idles fine now. no problems at all. now all igotta do is break her in real good and get rolling. what do you guys suggest when breaking it in?
-
yea i just rebuilt my top end due to piston detonation and the guys on here say that it was caused due to a lean mizture. the jets i had in the car before were a 172 and a 48 and i replaced the 172 with a 185 and left the 48 alone. i was wondering if this would be enough to fix the problem. also, my carb doesn't idle for nothing. before the piston got a hole burnt in it, it didn't idle neither. i was wondering what caused this because i have tried turning the idle screw and it seems to have no affect on it. pleez help guys. thanks a lot. andrew
-
i just put the new top end on (bored .60 over) THANKS KYLE. haven't fired her up yet because i need some plugs and some oil, and DEFINITELY larger jets for the carbs because if i let this happen again i'll whip my own ass . i'll let you guys know how everything works out. one more question, could this lean condition cause the motor to be hard starting and make it not idle whatsoever because when i first got it, it ran fine, started right up and when it started acting up, the idle screw had no affect on the idle and it was hard as hell starting. thanks a lot guys. hey kyle how is that t-maxx?
-
the hole is is on the top part of the piston pointing towards the front so you were right. i was running 115 octane race gas. cam 2 as some people know. what are you guys's opinion on that?
-
how do you remove the needle that controls the throttle in the top of the carburetor? i have tried everything and i know that you guys know what to do. i need to richen up that needle atleast 2 clips because my pistons burnt holes in them from a way to lean mixture. should i also change the jets in the carb too. right now i have a 172 and a 48. what are your thoughts? should moving clips on the needle be ok or should i rejet?
-
i got them out this morning, and it seems that their are small fragments of metal down in the crank case and the mechanic said that kerosene or diesel fuel poured in the crank case should clean it out real good. is their a drain plug for the crankshaft because i accidentlypoured some in there. lol. if not i can just tip it over. thanks guys
-
how in the hell do you remove the c-clips holding the wrist pins inside the piston. is their a special tool you need to remove them? i was getting pretty frustrated tryin to get them out but had no luck. help
-
yea so i took off the top end today to notice a hole in one of my pistons and the guys on here said that it's cause by a lean mixture. the jets in my carb are a 172 and a 48. i'm not sure what clip the needle is on. should i change them? i am around 1000 above sea level and i'm running 15cc domes. i run straight cam 2 race gas. i have a fresh top end that's bored .060 over. i was also wondering if it would be ok to use the same domes from the old top end. i was also wondering if i should change the reeds out too.

so their is no possible way that an air leak could cause a hole in the piston?
-
you mean to lube up the cylinders? if that's the case, then i would go with the same oil you mix with gas. check for more replys though because i'm not 100% on that
-
tore the top end off today and their's a hole in the piston. the left piston and it looked like in the righ that their was one starting. what in the hell could cause a hold in the piston? any thoughts guys.
-
when i bought the bike, the motor was rebuilt with wiseco pro lites and LA sleeves resleeved to standard bore and it has a hot rod crankshaft. i have a 35mm carburetor but i am not 100 percent sure. all i know is that it's a single keihin carb. is their anyway you figure out what size the carb is? the jets are 172 and 48 and i have no idea what clip the needle is on. one more thing, i am about at 600 above sea level and the plugs are fine. thanks guys
-
could an air leak cause you to lose a whole lot of compression, almost like their's a hole or something in a piston, because that is what happened when iwas riding yesterday and the idle screw had no affect on the idle. pleez help. i'll check for potential air leaks sometime this week
-
i think that i have an air leak on the shee and was wondering where the most likely places are to have an air leak. thanks guys
-
i just filled it up ith gas yesterday and this problem just happened recently and today i think i burnt a whole in the piston because it just shut off when i was running it in high gear and it wouldn't start and the kicker felt like the motor had very little compression, so i am guessing that their was an air leak. where is the most common place for an air leak? is their any certain type of sealant you are suppose to put around the carb going into the intake? pleez help because i have an extra top end that i am ready to drop and would like to correct this problem so i don't screw up a perfectly good top end. thanks p.s. i just had the carburetor apart and everything looks fine. i am 90 percent sure that their's an air leak. you're the pro so what are your thoughts?

hey guys you may recognize my name for posting the sites on the trade shop for the same car. i have a rc10gt in good condition. it still runs very strong. the only reason i am selling it is because i no longer have interestin the hobby because i now have a banshee and don't have time to mess with both. pm me if you interested. i will trade for banshee parts if no one is interested in buying it. thanks. andrew
