  1. Get rid of them....they are not needed, just a small opinion.
  2. Please post it, that is awsome to watch I bet, sorry to hear your injuries, but probably cool to watch....
  3. Ducman, when you turn the air screw out which one is it on the carb, I'm thinking I need to do it to mine, but not excatly sure??? Thanks.
  4. Loike Boonman said it really depends on the cylinders...by the way, how far came you bore the cylinder out before you have to have them sleeved or just shit can them and buy new???
  5. Like DuneDemon said the gas is 87-91 for the three grade of pump gas... I bump my octane by doing 50% 91 and 50% 100 Avgas with great results, almost as good as running trick or VP at half the cost....lucky east coast guys, but oh wait.....we have the dune capital of the US in our back yard....sorry east coast guys
  6. I had problems with the ones from FMF, got stock Yamaha ones and fixed my problem. Just a thought......
  7. If your looking for the mid to top end, look in to a pair of Fatties, if you looking for low to mid then Gnarlies, if you want to spend more money buy some Paul Turners Mids, they cost more but are really nnicer, I'm toooooo cheap to buy them myself thought!!!!
  8. I have the same set up with 35 pilots, 320 mains and no air screw changes, and needle clip in the middle. Try playing that area and maybe it will fix your issues.
  9. I had the same problem with my 89, and changing the pilots and upping the main alot fixed my problem. How do the plugs look and have you put new plugs in a runit at top end and shut off to get a good read on them??? Check that first and start playing with your mains, I ride in the California sand dunes for me, pilots of 35, mains 320 with FMF fatties, K&N aftermarket airfilter.
  10. I have had great success with Vortex spockets and RK chain that comes in kits. RK has a new chain that is specificially make for quads and works well. Try your local dealer and if they have no clue about this try Ftmbiz.com for more info. P.S. My wife has been using her chain and spockets kit for three seasons in the sand with hard riding, yes she hauls ass and pushes me, I know I have a problem...
  11. Hey guys, news flash, my wife, I know that sounds werid, but works for RK/Excel here in San Diego. When the new chain is replaced all sprockets should be done too and if you replace just the chain, then you need to sit in the bike and have about 3/8 to 3/4" of up and down movement in the chain. The RK chain is one of the best, I have some predjustice towards it, DID is ok, but to check that your chain running well you must adjust it, and maybe you did not take enough links out of it when you installed it as well. The chains are not exact fit and 3-6 links need to be removed when you install. For more chain info go to FTMBiz.com They can answer questions and have a sponsorship program for racers. Jeff P.S. Please do yourself a favor and NEVER use PJ1 blue on a chain, it eats up the Orings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. I think she has a deal worked out for the elkas, but the works might be a good options if we have to pay for them, she works in the motor sprots industry and might get them free. Thanks for all the information.
  13. I need to buy some Elka shocks for my wife's 89, with a A-arm up grade. She is about 105lbs dry and with riding stuff maybe 125lbs. We ride the sand dunes out here in Southern Cali only, would dual rates or triples be better and rezzies, yes or no. I would like to know some of your thoughts and comments on the product. Thank you very much in advance.
  14. Which Elka's did you end up buying and what type of riding do you do, since I'm in the market for some new shocks for my 89.
  15. Go to FTmbiz.com and they have the info you need if not call and they can set you up with the spockets and chain.
  16. Buy a new one, This one is toast. If you try to fix it it will do exactly what BBlueBanshee said, you'll bend it again.
  17. Rich, sounds like you need to drink beer and work and work on this. I'm getting parts tomorrow, call me, or see me later................
  18. SDD, sorry for not noticing that fact you where a local, Thanks for the help I'm on the way to buy some jets to range 280-320 to help fix my, issue and change the pilots out. The plugs looked fine after riding around, I forgot about the flat out and shut down to get a better reading on the plugs.
  19. I have found by mixing Avgas and super unleaded gas it has a performance style range with a poor mans budget, It tends to run a little cooler, but not that much, but has a the instant response parts you want out of the race gas. I go 50/50 Av to super.
  20. I have good compression,. I'm getting the new jets as soon as tomorrow, If anyone has a similar set up that goes to glamis could you get me the specs thanks.
  21. Precesion Concepts in El Cajon, CA does custom shock builting, with your wieght and riding style taken to the way they set up the shock. I don;t know the number but they could probably help you out
  22. Ducman, I will start looking to what you have since we are from the same state and have similar set ups. I will post on Sunday any new things when i find out compression and get the mains and pilot jets in. I run Maxima Super M at 32:1, with 2.5g of Avgas, and 2.5g of super unleaded. Nice little trick I found from friend. I will be checking back to you all on Sunday and tahnks very much for your help.
  23. I have a in at RK and they now have a chain that is a Oring XW chain that is just for wheelers, plus they have kits with Vortex spockets so it is all in one kit. I have the RK chain and get great wear out of it. Check your local dealer or look at the RK website. http://www.ftmbiz.com/ Enjoy your riding.
  24. SDD, I have the 280 mains from FMF that come with the pipes and ride the Imperial sand dunes area like you.
  25. I have checked the fuel and it's not that, the plug color is light brown like it should be. It revs fine but has the the starting issues and falling off at power band usage. Thanks for the ideas so far. I have not tore the carbs apart yet but I'm buying large polits just in case, to try helping the starting issue and compression check is the first thing I'm going to do once I get back from the Winternationals on Sunday. Plus yes I did brake it in when I rebuilt it.
