  3. i said it before and i will say it again the banshee is a legend and you can't compare a legend to a new tech 450... if the 450 was built during the same decade as the banshee it wouldn't of had a chance against the shee... yeah the 450 is faster when comparing stock to stock.. but don't forget that when yamaha built the banshee they were looking to slow it down to watch there back for law suits.... for example the banshee was designed keeping the RZ350 in mind however notice that yamaha got rid of the power valves, put on some of the most power guzzling pipes they could on it to slow it down... The banshee was ahead of its time.... don't forget when they started making the banshee was close to when they started making any quads to begin with.. this was before 700's were even considered... Today yamaha has designed the 450 to put out almost as much power as it can stock leaving no room for modds... the banshee was the complete opposite on the banshee they built a quad with so much potential that they literally had to come up with ways to slow it down.... And this is why i believe that a stock banshee shouldn't be compared to a stock 450... the 450 was built to be able to win races with out modds... however the banshee still holds the title for most potential in my eyes.... The 450 is just a phase as was the raptor... soon enough yamaha will come out with something better than the 450 and the 450 will be forgotten just as the raptor was... when was the last time people were comparing raptors to banshee's?? why aren't the raptors being compared to the 450... its cuz the banshee is a legend and still is.... if ur just the weekend racer wit not a lot of money for modds then go ahead get a 450.. but i prefer a legend over a rookie... the real question is not which quad has the most power but rather which one has been the most popular for over a decade??
  4. i live in a town called monson.. it borders the town of palmer.. which is about 30 mins from springfield or 40 from worcester i believe... im 16 and i ride the monson sand pits alot.. and my track that is in the process of being built.. you should come up to the pits up here some time.. there are some huge sand dunes and like 500 acres of trails.. jus look out for the EP's they are all over and are dicks if they catch ya... peace

Banshee is old school.. its a legend.. you can go comparing a legend that was built 17 years ago to a 450 that is what a year old.... the banshee will always have more power than the 450.. the only prob with the banshee that i will admit to is traction... that is where the 450 wins... 4 strokes simply hook up better than 2 strokes... As far as handling.. screw it.. there is no fun without a challenge am i right???. 450's are to easy.. i like tha challenge of trying to keep my banshee on the track and trying to tame that screaming fun power (that no quad can ever replace)... to me its the challenge and the adrennaline rush that you get on those long straight aways that matters... not placing first in a moto... you guys can go ur ways but i will go mine... ~THE BANSHEE LIVES ON~ "i will still have my banshee even after they stop making them in fact im planing on getting another... 4 strokes jus aren't the same and will never compare to a true LEGEND"

  7. your right the compression on a blaster is supposed to be 145 but like i said i have a bad compression tester.. but anyways i took the reed off for a closer examination today and i found that A REED HAD SNAPPED OFF!!!!... hurray i found the problem... thanx every one.. also do you think that the reed that snapped off could pose any harm to my engine or would i jus get sucked right through the engine???
  8. we checked the reeds a few nights ago but im thinking i might pull the carb off again and have another look cuz i can't find anything wrong with it and maybe i didn't get a good view of the reed last time... second time's a charm...
  9. we disconnected the TORS already do to having problems with it about a year ago and the carb we just cleaned pretty thoroughly but maybe we will try it again.. like i said after we cleaned the carb the last time and fired it up it ran perfect for about 30 seconds then it stopped for awhile and then started workin once again and now its back to not workin.... i dunno??
  10. i know this isn't a banshee we are talking about but will someone please help!!... i've tried everything i can think of... even tested the coil.. im fresh out of ideas of what could be wrong with it.... it revvvs all the way to redline but only if you give it gas really slow if you punch it too quick the engine cuts out and cuts out as soon as you let out the clutch in first as if it was stuck in 6th gear or was out of gas or sumthin.. PLEASE HELP.....
  11. i know its not a banshee its a blaster but will someone please help.... any ideas at all cuz im fresh out.. tested coil and its not that either, fuel lines aren't clogged did everthing i can think of ... PLEASE HELP

  13. interested in some pics.. then we will go from there.... how are the power valves setup are they setup like of the RZ's where the powervalves open electronically at a certain RPM or are they like the ones the trinity sells where they open by force???? pics would be great thanx.. what kind of port job??
  14. i've shecked out those power now valves and they just aren't worth it maybe for 20 bucks a piece or sumthin then sure but if your talking about those vavles that fit inside your carb then forget it.... save up and buy some pwk's and some v force reeds... a lot better set up.....
  15. this isn't about a banshee but i own one also if it makes a difference... well my friends blaster has a problem that we are yet to figure out..... whats wrong with it: basically if its and nuetral and idling you can give it gas but only really slow if you rev it too quick the engine dies... when you put it in first it doesn't have the power to move without stalling... you can ride it around the yard if you revv it to redline and work the clutch back and forith alot but stalls a lot and never really gets goin.... oh yea and it ran perfect the other day for like 30 seconds and then it startin doin this no power shit again... so far we played around with the throttle override system... cleaned the carb checked for any mice living in the air box... checked the compression and it read 90 i have a bad compression tester but figured if it was reading 90 it couldn't be a blown piston ring or anything like that..... played around with a lot of electrical stuff and are currently as i speak getting a new spark plug but i dunno.... any ideas???? it would be great if you could help even tho its not a banshee..
  16. aight thanx guys for all your help....it looks like im goin to jus go with the wrks shocks on my stock a arms for his year and if all goes well im saving up for some extended a arms and axle and i might possibly shave my swing arm.... my main issue about spending all the money on the extended shit is i still ride trails... and i don't really wanna shave my swing arm cuz i occasionaly hit he dunes also.... but we willsee how racing goes this year and i will take it from there.....
  17. definitely ge he 28mm flatslides.. i got pwk's myself and they are sick... you otta get them with clamp n k &n filters tho.. makes a big difference..... don't know what 30mm would be like but 28's are fine for me wouldn't recommend any bigger than 30 or you will get overcarburation.
  18. also what class did you race??? my shee is faster than raptors but the new yfz450 has given me a run for my money.... the problem wit the 450 which makes is so hard to beat is it hooks up better than the shee and is smaller and lighter......anyone ever race wit 450's in there class???
  19. would you recommend the triple rates over the doubles??? i heard a lot about this topic and thought that double rates were better for mx??? yea well i plan to get some elka's when the time comes that i get extended a arms... but for now im goin wit works jus to get some decent shocks till i can afford the a arms ya know... let me know about the triples verses the double rates cuz i had planned on getting double rates...

  21. im goin to be racing soon... my shee has plenty of power with my engine mods but i have hardly any suspension mods... right now im looking at racing with a piped shee with 28m pwk with clamp on filters v force reeds and some other goodies.. morethan enough power actually to much cuz all i have for suspension upgrades is works double rate front shocks witrezzies and adjustable rebound.... what im really askin is has anyone everyraced a banshee with stock susension and if so how well did you do??
  22. looking more good condition a arms/or offest rims for banshee... also looking for an adjustable rear axle.. standard length to up to 4 inches(2 inches on each side).... looking for something of quality for a resaonable amount of money.. let me know thanx
  23. i would do that but im ariad that my throttle will get stuck open if i cut spring.... but back to the carbs do you thinthat pwk 28mm would make an diff or not.. considering the fact that i wul be eliminating he TORS and converting to flat slides...

After just a half hour of hard riding at the track my thumb is killing me from my thumb throttle... my banshee has a ton of power but when at the track i can barely push the throttle to tap that power.... I was wondering if pwk 28mm carbs would make a difference???? afterall they are flatslides and would be replacing the tors system with just a solid cable??? Do you think it would make a difference...
