What Do You Guys Do For Jobs?
Wallrat replied to frocashmoney24's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I'm an operator at a natural gas fired power plant. Basically I turn valves, fight fires, check oil levels, could be almost anything depending on the day. In the down time at the plant, I'm training to be a weldor. Either I move into welding or I'll have to become a control room operator (think Homer Simpson). Cake job but I can't stand being indoors all day. -
So are you saying that school makes you stupid? I know I have that problem but thats cuz i'm trying to pour a gallon of knowledge into a shotglass worth of memory - some shit is bound to spill out.

Ok I'm thinking that we need to throw together a little contest. Before you go posting all your wives/gf's/whore's sitting on your shee lets see if we can get Lee (or any mod for that matter) to make this official. We're talking about an official start and end date for entries to be considered. That and we have to verify that you took this picture, and didn't just download it. Maybe ask the girl/girls to hold a BansheeHQ sign up (or write it on themselves). We can wait a few weeks for the contest so that people have a chance to get their Banshees back together and have time to try and convince some poor girl that this is for a worthy cause. Maybe we could get some prizes donated - that modified shift star you've got sittin' around, copy of the latest heuvos, beer, turn key stroker. I realize that some of you are unfortunate enough to live in the arctic circle. But hey, this contest was designed for you! It's probably been weeks since you saw a woman wearing far too little. Besides, cold weather + hot women = perky pictures! So whatcha guys think?

Its probably different for us out in Cali. I suppose if I travelled across the country I might grab some sand too. Although I always seem to come home with some sand in my crack. Out here, if you miss a trip out to glamis, dumont, pismo you can just go in a few days. Aww sorry guys! See evil, you don't even need baggies of sand to rub it in their faces! -
Pretty much the concensus seems to be that they're dangerous pieces of crap. You're putting added force on parts that weren't designed for those loads. If your just putting around then I'd say you have no problem with them, but if you plan on jumping or riding hard I'd stay clear.

I was thinking: H.Q. Militia Roostfest in March Beat Somebody's AssFest in January

Sacramento? Man there's alot of BHQ members from California. I can easily see a roadtrip forming up to Sac with a stop off at Pismo Dunes afterwards to laugh about how quickly dead-beats pee their pants when afraid.

Check out the dark tips section of thescreensavers They've got all sorts of sweet shit there including direct links to ad-aware and spy-bot free downloads. Use em both, they're free and everytime I run them both one will get a couple more spyware programs that the other missed.

Last one: Here's a pic from the southern dune looking towards the other dune and camping area (upper left). You can just make out the road between the two dunes. That'd be the wife on her 300ex in the foreground. -

Here's a small bowl up on top of one of the big dunes. Sorry for the small images but I only know how to attach using the (50k max) file attachment. -hey 370, would you want some video clips too? I know I can do quicktime, haven't tried any other format. I grabbed a couple quick pics but have to head to the inlaws in a few so the rest will have to wait. -boonman, you should at least setup a paypal account so that people can use a credit card to pay you. Paypal charges a small percentage but I think it evens out since you get more biz. -

Boonman you should buy a handful of shift stars to bring with you to dumont. I'm sure that you'd sell 'em. Oh and the $25 doesn't count shipping right? Here's comp at dumont -
Holyman you'd be amazed at how easy jetting is! I realize that it sounds a little scary - hell its even got its own forum! Try pulling your carbs and doing what ripper said - we'll help if you need it; best to get over this fear together.

Heck I don't care where we end up! I just figured that if I took a picture of the area then posted it then it'd be easier for people to locate the camp. The parking/camping area is huge and I would imagine that your buddy would keep us at least close to the dunes. There's a road that goes inbetween the two major dunes that is constantly full of traffic so I would think that somewhere sorta-but-not-too-close to that? If you want, ask your buddy the general area that he was thinking and I'll cut a jpg frame out of my video. -
You nailed it banchetta. I dropped the clip down one on the needles and it cleared right up. Thanks everyone!

My first time in Glamis (uh...like 3 weeks ago) I joined a group to go on a night ride with. I'd never ridden with them but since I was there by myself and anxious to ride I decided to team up, besides, they seemed nice enough around the campfire. We set out around 10pm. I'd only been at camp for about 2 hours and aside from a quick glance at a map before leaving home, didn't know the area for shit. The order was 2 sand rails in the lead, a 400ex, me and another rail behind me. Wouldn't you know it, not 5 minutes into the ride the banshee starts bogging and running like hell. Immediately I think that I've lost a cylinder. i pull off to the side of the trail and signal the rail behind me - who proceeds to drive AROUND me and dissappear into the darkness with the rest of the group. Ok that blew. Then I realize that I'd set my flashlight down at camp and forgot to put it back in my pocket. Ok so I braille it on the engine checking the plug caps thinking one probably popped off, nope both are on there. I checked about as much as you can when you're blind with no luck. At this point I thanked god that I've always been a total dork when it came to astronomy. I knew that the railroad tracks that I was camped near were to the east of me. So I scoped out a few major consellations, was able to figure out which way was east and limped the shee that away (I figured even blowing up the engine was better than having to walk out and probably never find the bike again). Eventually I made it back to the railroad tracks and then to camp. Within 30 seconds of having a flashlight I found the problem - the wire going to the spark plug cap had pulled out of the cap. I'd felt the cap but not the wire! The group I'd crashed with showed up back at camp around 12:30am. Apparently they didn't see my bike next to my car cuz they were talking about going out to look for me (a little late). Unfortunately I opened my truck up and told 'em I was indeed back. Within a week after getting back from that trip I bought a GPS. Also now I triple check that I have that, a lighter, flashlight, extra batteries, and water anytime I set out after sunset.

I just got back from a reconaissance trip to Dumont - my first time there! Its super sweet there, smaller than Glamis, but a wide range of dune types for every type of rider. Mostly its razorbacks, from tiny little 5 foot ones up to huge scary monsters. There's also plenty of bowls to play in and some VERY steep hills for climbers. I grabbed GPS coordinates for areas like the turnoff to the dunes, a potential group campsite, comp hill, etc. and will post them soon. Also I shot a panoramic video of the whole area including the parking area from on top of one of the dunes. I can grab as many still shots as we need from that shot so we can pinpoint where we'd like to camp. I'm beat since I just got home about 20 minutes ago so the pics will have to wait a few days. Anybody wanna host them so we can post a few on this forum? I've only got imagestation which works but is kind of a pain in the butt and I haven't figured out how to make the images appear in the forum other than as a link. -

Cromoly? Mild steel? -
I read up on this and the basic conclusion is that you should try leaving the jetting the way it is first. You might have to change the jetting by switching octanes though.

I dunno man. 185 degrees is kinda cutting it close. I've got an 18 fin cooler and no mods besides k&n and pipes and I can hit 200 degrees when I'm riding hard. I usually run about 190 unless I'm just cruising. With those hoses, you won't be able to mod your engine much.

I'm assuming that you tried to teach yourself how to fly. They're actually very easy to fly but require a delicate touch. If you find out where your local flying field is you can usually get somebody to teach you for $10 or so. Most guys will help ya out for free. Most people have the tendancy to jerk the sticks, thus causing it to lose control, then overcorrecting causing a crash. They actually have buddy cords that connect 2 radios together. The instructor flies primarily and can hold a button in to give the student temporary control. Anytime the student gets into trouble all the instructor has to do is release the button and fix the plane's attitude, then give control back to the student. I taught my wife to fly this way on a very fragile balsa plane where one crash meant the plane, engine, and some electronics would be toast. She now flies that same plane solo and it hasn't crashed yet. Since its a foam wing and can handle some abuse, I'd say that after a couple flights with an instructor you'll be able to fly on your own. Also, you may have the elevons setup incorrectly making it impossible to fly. A quick inspection by another pilot can fix this and save yourself several frustrating hours. I've never met a pilot who wasn't eager to help out somebody with setting up their plane.

Wicked Products sells A-arms for $450 unfinished, $500 powdercoated, or $600 chromed on ebay.

Yup, I fly RC sometimes and yes I've flown that plane. Did you have a question about it or where you just wondering if anyone else on here flew?

Best method I've found for removing the studs is to remove the wheel, then re-thread the nut back onto the stud until the top of the nut is flush with the stud. Grab a small torch or a Zippo can sorta work in a pinch. Heat up the stud to get the loctite to let go then TAP the stud out with a hammer by hitting the nut square on the head. Usually if you heat up the stud enough it will only take a few mild taps before you'll see progress. Once its out a bit you can remove the nut and one or 2 small taps will push the stud out the rest of the way. That said, don't use spacers unless you're just dying to see how much it'll hurt to lose a wheel while riding.
