This sort of thing happens out in Gorman all the time. This time of year the rains put major ruts in the trails. Guys will be flying down a well marked trail only to have it drop off into a "rut" thats 10 feet deep.

Hey I just finished a less than perfect transaction with this guy and am kicking myself in the shorts cuz I still left him a postive feedback. Has anybody else dealt with him? The problem was that I bought a stock radiator from him that he said had "a little fin damage, not bad." I paid $15 for 3 day shipping and recieved it 7 days later - he'd shipped it 5-day ground. The fin damage was rather extensive. It took me about 90 minutes to straighten all the fins to where they were semi-decent. I emailed him and complained although I was feeling WAY too nice that day and figured that it had been an honest mistake. So I left him a postive feedback anyway - and then he doesn't even bother to leave me any feedback! I think that was the final straw really.

I've used some stuff called Engine Enamel with good results. Its durable as hell and resistant to heat. Not sure if it comes in other colors besides black though.

You've got to find out where the play is at before you can solve the problem. The 4 14mm bolts hold the rim to the hub. The center castle nut holds the hub to the axle. Check to make sure its not just the rim is loose on the hub then do what Screamin' said. If your hub was loose then chances are you tore up the splines on the axle and its gonna cost ya.

Would It Be Worth It To Part My Bike Out?
Wallrat replied to bignasty1's topic in General Banshee Discussion
A used 5.0? Ugh! My advice is to buy a semi-new toyota or nissan 2WD pickup for about one-third of what the stang is going for. The money you'll save on maintenance alone will be enough to buy a new shee. Seriously, I had one of those P.O.S. 5.0's. It pissed me off because all sorts of stupid crap on it would break - I mean stuff that should last the life of the vehicle, like dome lights and crap like that. Then my transmission BLEW THE f*ck UP at 72k miles! I totally babied this car so its not like it was mistreated. I've personally known 4 people that have had the trannies die on their fords at less than 90k miles, one was in 600 miles. They're built like shit. I replaced the water pump 3 times before that 72k miles, the alternator once. My next car was a 4x4 toyota p/u. It had 189k on it when I sold it and the only thing I'd had to replace was the battery, brakes, clutch, and tires. -
Glamis tends to be mostly bowls and big hills(well unless its been windy). So if you're looking for 80% people watching and 20% riding bowls then its a good place to go on a holiday weekend. People out there are all about showing off so you get some really good stories, and see some real idiots. Have you considered Roostfest 2004 from March 4-7 or whatever it is? Its posted under the 'riding and events' forum. That'll be at Dumont Dunes which is near Vegas. Dumont is supposedly mostly razorbacks and big hills.

Need A A-arm Conversion Kit For J-arm Frame
Wallrat replied to StonedBanshee's topic in For Sale - Parts & Accessories
Meat used to sell them and said that he might start selling them again. But for now you've only got the one option. -
I'd say try it out and sell it on ebay if its not what you want. Or you could try asking blue duece, I believe he had a Denton and moved up to a Scott's damper. As far as the handlebars go, Pro Tapers have alot of flex in them and soak up alot of the viration. I've never tried them on a banshee but we put some on my buddy's dirtbike and it helped out ALOT! Depending on how much money you're willing to throw down, you could also upgrade his suspension to Elkas. Works are only slightly better than stock.

I've seen the PWR's go for $250 on ebay. The company that sells them on there has the buy it now at $300 or something but they set the reserve at $250.

My friend Danny wants to go and buy a shee over there all chromed out. -
Did you check the bulbs?

People are usually split 50/50 on this and each person swears that the other method is inferior. Personally, I hate thumbs. If I was buying an '04 banshee I'd talk the dealer into throwing in the twist throttle. But really it just comes down to personal taste. Twist throttles require the rider to have some extra coordination so if you're the type that slams your hand in car doors, stick with the thumb.

Advantages/disadvantages To Shortened Swingarm?
Wallrat replied to SD4x4TRD's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I agree. If its just for doing wheelies save your money-the banshee pulls the front end up fine with the stock arm. If you're looking for better hookup, or more control in the air, then get it shortened. -
It really depends on how much duning you're planning to do. Its a pretty decent drive for me to any dunes so I didn't want to spend $200+ on a set of tires that'll get used only 4x/year. I got the Gecko's/rims for $150 and they work pretty good. I haven't found a hill I couldn't make it up yet and the bike is still plenty manueverable. I run 5lbs because I like to jump alot so I'm missing out on some of the extra bite. IMO, they're a decent tire for a great price. I think the new ITP Sand Stars are probably a better value, they're only a few bucks more and look alot more aggressive. Plus all the reviews I've read on them have been very positive.

Pressing Throttle While Starting Cold?
Wallrat replied to Banshee0028's topic in General Banshee Discussion
If mine doesn't start in 2 kicks I'll give a little blip on the throttle as I kick it. Anymore than just a c-hair of throttle will flood it. Try a couple kicks after that and if it still won't start, check the kill switch. -
Sounds like you have no rebound dampening. Without the dampening you essentially just have a pogo-stick. Time for a rebuild or a new shock. You can usually find a semi-new (+2000) stock shock on ebay for pretty cheap - I'm not sure how much a rebuild is. I'm surprised that it only bothers you when you jump. When the rear shock went out on my last quad, any major size rut would launch your ass 4 feet off the seat. Stupidly I kept it that way for months, eventually it nearly bounced me over the bars when I was flying down a trail. After that scare, I would've paid any price for a new shock.

How Much Can I Advance Timing And Run On 93?
Wallrat replied to excess's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Most people run about +4 on pump gas. -
Hmm...how about you meet me on the 405 fwy. If you can manage that then sure I'll pick ya up! I think I might try volunteering for the Dune Patrol if nobody can go with me. Last time I went to Pismo by myself and I ended up just following around a bunch of people on rental ATV's all week. People get really paranoid when they're out for a nice leisurely ride and some a-hole is screaming all over the place behind them. Eventually they'd stop and be like, "WHO ARE YOU?!?!" I just assume that if they saw somebody get launched headfirst into a ditch they might stop.

inline coolers bigger the better...
Wallrat replied to 98bonerSTOCKshee's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I got my 18-fin cooler from c_rossman on ebay. Looks sweet and for the price you can't beat it. I'm waiting for my new radiator to get here so I'm not gonna install it yet, no need to drain/refill the coolant anymore than i have to. I'll post a review once I get it on. -
Anyone Up For Another Bhq Get Together?
Wallrat replied to banshee370's topic in Riding and Events Forum
Map it. But I'd take a guess at about 300-340 miles from SD. -
I'll be leaving for Glamis on Sunday morning, staying until Wednesday. If anyone's off, you're welcome to meet me there. Drop me a pm if you think you can make it.

Here's a few problems AC... First off, where would we put the track? This board is worldwide, we've got New Yorkers, Californians, even a couple people from as far away as the UK and New Zealand. I doubt anybody would be willing to donate money with free usage as an incentive if the track was 700 miles away. Second, Making a track is the easy part of having a Mx track. Anybody could go out and buy an acre, rent some earthmovers and throw it together. Even barriers and whatnot would be relatively cheap. The problem arrises when you start having to worry about permits and insurance. Building a Mx track would undoubtably cause concern from the locals. The city would have a say and you can bet that they'd be wanting to dip their hands into your bank account. Insurance will be ridiculous. You'll never see a track operator who's rich. Since I sorta just pissed in your Wheaties and I feel mildly bad, here's my suggestion: build your own track for personal use. Maybe you live with your parents still, maybe you live in a city. But you don't always have to. Move out to the country, buy land for a Mx track and deal with the commute. Rent some moving equipment and tear up the land. Invite your buddies over and tell them their ticket is a 12-pack.

No kidding? All the pictures I saw looked like it was sticking way out of the back. How much are you thinking of selling the rack for and what kind of condition is it in?
