if you are just gonna do 1/8th mile you dont need that high gearing, i would go for 14 39 or 15 41 just a little taller than standard because if you gear it too high you will be a long way from hitting top speed at the 1/8th the gearing you got would be good for 1/4 if you got enough power to pull it.

f*ck off you lot i am in pain i cant laugh because my ribs still hurt from riding last weekend i bought a supremo' megaband setup off ebay for just $80 (bargain) and whan i fitted it i wasnt ready for the power increase and fell off the back of the shee and hurt my ribs. i think the megaband works better with my mods than a evo powerband would because the evolution needs higher flow of air. i have stock carbs and RUDY at smiths performance bands told me the megaband produces nearly as much power with stock carbs. i didnt even have to mod my cams or crank angle sensor they just stretched straight over my boost bottle and gave me an instant 18 rear wheel hp. next mod on the list is a brass button reed cap, anyone selling one cheap? dont wanna spend any more than $30 cheers.

it seems to me that all you proud americans are forgetting one thing, there are over 3000 non american soldiers over there fighting alongside your guys so this is not just an american victory, it is a coalition victory. i was disgusted when i heard the press release by that slimy prick (whos name i have forgotten) saying that YES LADIES AND GENTLEMEN WE GOT HIM then he proceeded to say how it was america this and america that but not a mention of the australian and brittish troops who are over thwere dodging bullets and missing there spouses just as much. americans are stereotypically selfish people(not saying all of you are) and this was a real eye opener for me, bush can come here and visit and thank the australian people for their support and say how it couldnt have been done without us etc. but when they have a breakthrough such as this we dont get a mention. its all about you. so all i ask is that you give a little thought to the dead and injured aussies and poms also the americans but dont draw a line between them, we are all fighting the same battle.

a fellow aussie hq supporter told me it is possible to double up the gasket between the cylinders and the case and shave the head, which would effectively raise the ports and transfers, while maintaining similar compression (theoretically, may be lower static comp. but higher when the band comes in). has anyone done this and what sort of power gains would be possible/probable

hmmm tithead i am lost for words is your head actually a tit or is that a joke? that would make it hard to eat.

It is all about wind resistance. my uncle is a physics lecturer at the university or new south wales and i got him onto the problem. His reply The reason a streetbike will be capable of perhaps double the speed of a quad while acheiving the same power at the same revolutions per minute with the same gearing (not saying they have but as an example) is this: wind resistance is worked out using a complex mathemetical equation which i wont go into with great detail but it takes into account the angles, sizes, shapes material surface finish and the relativity of the above to each other. as an example, a go cart with 5 hp may do 30 km/h the same gocart may require 5 extra hp to achieve 40 km/h and the next 5 hp may only increase its speed by 6 or 7 km/h using rough measurements and approximate angles and shapes i have worked out that a banshee would be capable of doing 120MPH if all of the following were achieved. front fenders removed, no rider, 1 inch wide front tyres, frame 1/2 inch from the road at the front in the centre and rear tyres 1/2 inch from fenders, rear tyres 1 inch wide, 19:39 gearing, engine with 207 H.P. approx (185 H.P. at the tyres) and capable of reaching over 14000 rpm. There are other requirements but i will not go into them. Hope this helps geoffo John So as you can see it is achievable !!! sorry tithead but i didnt believe you before and i certainly dont believe you now (ps sorry about the km/h stuff, i converted all the important stuff to mph and hp from kw and inches from mm etc.) Geoff.
