  1. Mildly ported with stock pipes??? Kinda defeats the purpose......porting is to allow better air flow and the stock pipes restrict air flow. Get some pipes and you'll have a totally new machine.
  2. I just put on a set of Works triple rates and went out on the first ride with them...I was riding in some pretty bumpy sand and still managed to get it into 6th gear....big difference.
  3. I did not try a different slide yet and at this point i dont think i will need to...
  4. I made great progress in getting this motor jetted right this weekend. As you can see i've tried a ton of different jetting combinations...... but i still had a little bit of a dead zone in the midrange. It appears that this motor was a bit lean at 1/4 throttle and a bit rich at 1/2 throttle so i put in a leaner tapered needle and moved the clip down 1 spot and that seemed to be just what it needed, the dead zone is about all if not completely gone! It runs like a raped ape all the way through and pulls very hard. I think with a lean 1/4 position and a rich 1/2 position the midrange was just outta balance creating the "deadzone" and by getting these 2 throttle posions balanced out the "deadzone" is gone. Final jetting specs are = 178 mains, 48 pilots 1 1/4 turns out, BEG needles on the 4th clip position.
  5. I smoked for 20yrs and quit cold turkey, if you are really ready to quit then your mind can overpower the urge to smoke. I did feel sick for the first couple of days but that was about it....and that was just over 2 yrs ago. You will sure feel better after you have kicked the habit and prolly even gain some weight but its still better then that nasty habit, it will also save you some cash so you can dump more into the shee
  6. I wouldnt mind trying Dan at Patriot racing....Patriot as for hp, all depends how ratical you want to go
  7. Well if it wasn't lean before but is now then it must be an airleak somewhere. Torn manifold boot? Might have to do a leakdown test...
  8. Mine idle just fine, just turn them out counter clockwise 7 1/2 turns like Banchetta stated. I just turn mine out by clicks and i think im out about 30 clicks...
  9. I started with a 50 pilot and worked my way down to a 42 then worked back to a 48 wich it likes the best. Needle position seems to do absolutely nothing and it likes a 178 main. Gonna try a leaner tapered needle.....
  10. 14/41 is the stock set up.
  11. Can anybody tell me what is going on inside the cylinders when they make the transition from cold to hot? is the fuel in there thicker when its cold then becomes thinner when warm...meaning that it needs more fuel to run better when warmed up...i dunno
  12. Lately i've noticed that when the shee gets warmed up it starts running worse then when it's cold. At first i thought it was an outside temp. that was effecting it but its not, its the engine temp. that is making it run bad. I have that little flat spot in my Passion motor that almost everybody else has but its really not that bad at all but i notice it more when the motor gets warmed up....is this a jetting issue or what???
  13. or 34 pj's. Jim likes them and says they are easier to dial in...
  14. Why did you change from 34 pj's to 35 pwk's? What difference did you experience when changing carbs? Do the reed spacers enhance performance or are they just for bigger carb clearance of the clutch arm? Are you sure you are using DKG needles or did you mean DGK?....I believe DGK needles come stock with 35pwk's.
  15. Compress the spring then zip tie them so you dont have to hold on to them....it makes that job a whole lot easier.
  16. If it has always run great before then most likely jetting is not your problem. Could be broken reeds, dirty carbs/air filter or possibly an air leak.
  17. 175 mains and 45 pilots will get you real close.
  18. I know everybody says elka's are better but if the works are like a world of difference then stock ones then I think thats good enough for me, I dont really want to fork out the extra $ for elka's, they are pretty proud of their shocks.
  19. How do the Works dual rate shocks compare to stock? I heard that they are not much better then stock...can somebody who's running these shocks please comment on this?
  20. Go up a couple on the mains.
  21. I started with 50's and worked my way down to 42's, with the 42's i had to close the air screws down to .5 to get the best response. It ran best with 45's but still had the flat spot, now i have clamp on filters and bumped pilots back to 48's.
  22. First of all a 20 pilot seems way too small and a 290 main might be too big for the stock air box and lid on. Try bumping down to about a 260 and putting the needle clip in the center spot and see what it does. Keep an eye on the plug color for the main jet.
  23. This topic needs to be posted in the "Jetting and Exhaust" forum and nobody can help you if you dont post what kinda mods you have done on your bike...mainly what kind of pipes and air filter set up do you have?
  24. Mine peaked out at 79.5 with 45ft. lbs but i did not get a print out so i cant post it
  25. My sons bike has similar mods as you and we started with 330's and ended up with 310's.
