  1. The definitions of "trail" and "mx" and "woods" and all of them really depend on the machinist. In some ways, they all tend to port a little differently. Best thing to do is to contact the person you want to have doing the porting, say..... Eric Gorr, and then discuss the different porting options with them. I'd say a trail port would almost be a clean up & polish, and then mx would be equal to a woods port, nothing major, but a nice open up and cleaning. I have Gorr's wood port and it's awesome. Unbelievably smooth, and so much low/midrange (in part to the pipes), and others have used that port with top end pipes, and they are said to just scream there also. I run a 16/41 regularly when I race...in the woods, and can easily pull a 17/41 if need be, so it's got some ass behind it. Here's Gorr's wood port: Before After
  2. Technically speaking yes, but I doubt that it would be anything noticeable, I mean, maybe 1/8th of a tad.
  3. You mean they don't on stock arms???
  4. Damn, never thought of that. Makes sense. Shit, just one more thing to do now...
  5. Damn, I don't which that one is. The 5+ gallon tanks are butt ugly, but have you seen the 4 gallon IMS tanks, they look pretty trick for replacing the tank plastic and it's way faster to have out. Just a thought. Compliments to chipdog for the nice bike...
  6. Krmit, it's easiest to remove the 4 bolts that hold the carb boot (on the motor side) onto the manifold. Then, just remove the whole airbox/carb/boot combination. Way easier to get the carb out and way easier to put back in. Just put the airbox in, and the carb boot should still be attached, then replace the 4 bolts, no biggie. Yea, exactly. I don't get what's so difficult, it's not like your taking apart a cv joint.
  7. Don't look too bad, but look down at the base of the porcelain inside the plug and see if that ring is a nice dark chocolate color. When in doubt, go richer....
  8. too ugly fellas, need some bling.
  9. Run it straight, think it says so on the bottle.
  10. that goes without saying....
  11. I don't get the game....
  12. Dunno, used to run MC1 and it was pretty good. I liked it. But, when I got this quad, the fella was using 927, so I just kept using it.
  13. My pegs will be here soon. I need some short levers. IMS is b/o on the shift levers. They have some brake levers in stock and hopenfully my order will be filled soon. Nonetheless, I'd like to find out what you guys have or where else I can get this stuff. Scott
  14. Eric Gorr forwardmotion.com i think
  15. Yea, WTF? Anyone know what's up with that? Diesel should be cheaper than the frigging regular POS unleaded gas. Oh, and I'm a Ford guy, always have and always will be when it comes to trucks. I think the Ford's are just tougher than the Chevy's in regards to farm work and off road. I think the Chevy's ride a lot better and are much better for the cruiser or on-highway truck. I think Dodge has a good truck and a good motor, but it's power is over-hyped. I also don't like the looks of the Dodge truck, although I'm proud of them for having the balls to offer the "Power Wagon" with a winch, 33's and lockers. Wish they'd all follow that suit. Only complaint I have with my F250 is the brakes. I wish they were a little stronger, partly due to me having 35's on them, but being a big truck, they should be able to handle it in stride. Oh yea, and it's a mid 03 with no problems, just a little cackley in the mornings, just like me.
  16. Alright, guess we all missed it. Happy birthday man. Glad you made it back home safe and hope you had a good one.
  17. What year is your quad? If it's anywhere close to needing a top end, I'd say do it or just a hone and new rings and get some porting. Portwork will bring in the real power, everything will be babyshit, maybe 1 or 2 hp here and there. Porting is equivalent to going from stock to pipes. Otherwise: Timing Ignition Single Carb setup (for low/mid & mx riding) Vforce Reeds NOS
  18. That's a controversial question. I typically go with good 'ol Wiseco ProLites, they're priced well, and probably the top seller by far. Vitos pistons are made by Wiseco but with different specs, and I haven't really heard anything bad about them. I wouldn't be afraid to use them. I personally would go forged as well, which the Pro Lites are and Vitos offers them. BTW, cylinders are often referred to as "jugs".
  19. So......? Are they sold? Are you selling them to someone else? Answers man... we need answers!! I've got some stuff on order, but it's backordered so I can still cancel it. However, it can come in any day. I need to know if they're sold or what's happening, then I'll know what to do about my order. Thanks man, Scott [email protected]
  20. Yes, I to, wonder what the overall savings is in this? Seems like a lot of work, tho A for effort and on the job of transferring them.
  21. Holy mother...... speechless...
  22. Here's a thread that might help. Also, for the record, I now prefer the Maxxis iRazr. They just came out over the summer, so they haven't been tried a lot, but they hook up like frigging mad and slide around corners at will. Perfect for me. Tires
  23. One jug is enough, and you'll have a little less than half left over. RMATV is a good place to get it, but usually your dealer can get it the next day, because they can get it through Tucker and Parts Unlimited. Well worth it yo!
  24. Well, we were talking about the rear engine mount. That one can be tricky because with pressure from the motor, the rubber mounts can hold onto the bolt pretty good. I also tapped out my rear swinger bolt with the same punch. If yours had to be sledged, then it lost the grease and seized, I didn't have that problem with mine. While it was a little rusty, I simply tapped it 3 or 4 times and there was enought to pull it on out. I'd recommend to anyone, getting a grease zerk into that pivot point. Anyway, that's for a different thread...
